I watch this let’s play in sub instead of dub, mainly because when I look up Stephenplays dubnautica it just brings up subnautica so I’m starting to doubt its existence
10:52 That is a easter egg, the alterra HQ captain quarters dialogue is from a roleplay channel called "neebs gaming" during early acess Which just shows how little Alterra cares about aurora survivors
Hey, it's the stream that convinced me to borrow (and hopefully own in the future) Subnautica! For real, the "great Lithium expedition" as I termed it in the VOD was surprisingly intense. I also have to give props to Stephen on his successful exploration of the second Degassi base. That's actually where I died the second time in the game. I wound up low on oxygen in the base and panicked. And in my haste to escape I wound up getting caught in those Drooping Stingers at the entrance to the base. Wound up dying just as I was going to make it back to my Seamoth. So I say this from experience: good job!
Well, the more he stacks and builds lockers and other features within his not-base, the less willing he probably would be to rearrange his belongings into something within an actual base. It's kind of like the whole room cleaning philosophy where it gradually takes longer and more effort the more things slowly pile up in the room. That said, paraphrased from Stephen, his self-proclaimed defiant "up yours" personality might just take this whole actual base construction into a running gag because he absolutely loves being told what to do and what not to do (with all loving sarcasm)... at least, until Mal, Hayley, or someone else forces him to.
@sfeng73 it'll be fun to see him build like 50 solat panels, never have any water purifiers and having to travel to the deep biomes to get the organic stuff in case he doesn't build any multi purpose rooms XD
I feel like a thumbnail that has more like.... Subnautica style? would do better for getting clicks. I love the actual video but not a fan of this thumbnail specifically.
I understand the new direction thing is changing how the videos are titled and thumbnailed and so on. I know I am just one of hopefully many many viewers, so my opinion may not even be a popular one. But the new thumbnails…the "surprised gamer" expression overlaying an attention-grabbing screenshot…It feels very cookie-cutter and insincere. Like how every gaming (and even non-gaming) channel is trying to be since mr beast made the look popular. The first two thumbnails were okay enough, but this one is edging into the kind of territory that makes me feel like I just stepped on dog doodoo. Like that might be a bit blunt but I can't figure out any other way to say it. I think literally any other formula would be fine. But fake expressions for the sake of a thumbnail just feels like a low-effort, low-care, low-quality move. It feels degrading, both for you and the viewers. I hope I'm too out-of-line for thinking it's okay to say this. I love yall's videos, so it's really scary to see yall going this direction. Edit: Chaz reached out and it turns out I totally overreacted. I'm leaving this comment for the sake of not making the replies confusing, but I'm not proud of it.
Literally any other formula would lead to RUclips never sending the videos to anyone. I don't like it either but there is no point in complaining. If Stephen had used the kind of thumbnail you prefer, you wouldn't even know this video had been posted to comment on it unless you checked the channel frontpage every day.
@ i didn't say what thumbnail I prefered other than "not this." Is this truly the ONLY way? The thumbnails for the other two videos were alright (or at least toeing the line to being alright). I just am not a fan of mr beast surprised gamer face.
It is what it is. They gotta make money and this the kind of thing the algorithm likes for better or worse. I'm mostly posting this to feed the algorithm btw.
I don't know what makes you say this is a fake expression? It's a genuine screengrab from Stephen's genuine reaction at a point in this video. We haven't done any photos of "gamer faces" specifically for thumbnails.
Stephen: "It's not a base!"
Video Title: "Are you sure about that?"
It's a tube storage shed 😂
The one Peeper clipping through the lifepod before being grabbed out of the air and cooked.
19:00 the No's are very reminiscent of Stephen's mother during the rock em sock em robots Little Big Planet episode.

it took me a bit too long to understand the joke
@@headphonics3052 lol I’m glad you got it, i was concerned how many people would think I was stupid lmao
Even after watching the streams, these edited down versions are still fun to watch. Hope these new kinds of videos pan out for yall!
Ahh, the slippery slope from "storage tube" to "main base," but at least he has a multipurpose room
Sometimes you just gotta be a sea hamster and turn your hoard into a home.

maybe the base is the friends we made along the way
must construct additional panels
Scanner room draws a LOT of power, you wanna tell it to stop scanning if you're not actively collecting things
Base is where your heart is.

Thank god we got that vending machine for the base I mean erm “shed”
He's never going to build a real base is he
(Awkward knowing laughs) You will be surprised how long it takes (if ever) 😂

Stephen definitely chose this video title just to provoke engagement through people posting comments correcting that it's not a base :p
This series is so funny and you should just build on the storage tube it's kind of a base 😎.
Awesome! Looking forward to next ep.
Yay more subnautica
Poseidon says hello
I thought it was a shed?
What base?
please do gbg videos again
Nuh uh, that’s just a shed! It’s going to be so much longer before Stephen builds a base. Nice clickbait 🙄 /j
(hee hee bait because fish game)
@@mcintoshpc I applaud you for your comedic word play (one clap)

Unless the next one also looks like this I assume hes just testing out how different styles of thumbnail effect things
