People in the world need to understand what is happening here in Israel: we were attacked, we were almost destroyed as a nation, and I don't understand why we don't have a million people here in the streets. It will come. It will come because we have to down the government, we have to change what's happening in Israel, we have to rebuild the country again. STORYLINE:
Hundreds marched in Tel Aviv to mark 200 days of the war, demanding a deal to release the hostages and the resignation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Shouting “Deal Now” to release the hostages, and carrying banners with pictures of some of the more than 100 still in captivity in Gaza, the demonstrators marched by government offices carrying a dry pitta, symbolizing the food the hostages are receiving while in Gaza.
The protesters demanded new elections and criticized the way Netanyahu’s government has handled the war against Hamas.
The Israel-Hamas war was sparked by the unprecedented Oct. 7 raid into southern Israel in which the militants killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted around 250 hostages.
Israel says the militants are still holding around 100 hostages and the remains of more than 30 others.
The war in Gaza has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians, according to local health officials, around two-thirds of them children and women.
