This singer named tenger. 58 yrs old. His only child, his daughter passed away due to server illness. After long time of depression, he is now dedicate to planting trees and saving the environment of his hometown.
C-Bear, if you ever watch historical Chinese Dramas, you will experience these kinds of traditional songs. They are powerful and passionate singing combine with outstanding story telling in the dramas. It is easy to get hooked on them, even if you don't understand the language (subtitles).
Charles Harmon you are right. Actually, i recommend you guys to watch one historical drama called "Kangxi Dynasty", one of the best dramas in my country with good story and good characters. It's ending song was also sang by Tengri.
王子雍, in my search, I found The Kangxi Empire Kangxi Dynasty with 46 episodes. Here is the link. If this is the correct one then I will check it out. I appreciate you sharing a great show. I will enjoy it... ruclips.net/video/0GRh2_z93tE/видео.html
Kangxi Dynasty is so good man, also u could check out the 2004 tv series Genghis Khan (dont know if it has english subtitles, probably not lol) personally i think its the best tv series about Mongolian culture and early history of our people, and Tengger is a major soundtrack composer for this drama, also he sings the ending song
魏子茗 I have found the Genghis Khan 2004 tv series with English sub titles. Thank you very much and I greatly appreciate you sharing your culture. I will enjoy watching the series and sharing it will my friends.
When I first listened to this song, I literally cried. I can feel his sadness while singing this song that's used to describe his homeland. Mongolian songs are pure.
He was born in China, and he’s holding China passport. He is a Mongolia man, but he’s in China, Inner Mongolia, not the country. From all the aspects, he’s an artist in China.
There's so much sadness in this song as he describes such a beautiful scenery and mentions a girl. The chorus simply says "I love you, my home. My home, my heaven". He used to be in heaven but all that is gone now. Pollution and development in his home town. His daughter died of a disease at a tender age of four. Those who know of the back story could feel his pain when he sings this song. The emotions are raw and very powerful.
Even from the start I watching epspde 7 I mean at tengoir performance.. His presence tells me a story, he didn't start to sing at beginning but as of me my eyes gonna teared up if that makes sense? That the emotion, the shaolin And Buddha like an enlightment of his both nor everything ah I can't explain that something you don't want to missed every part and I was wowed and at the same time tear a little bit, when the guy was feeling the song ah.. That guy feel the feels and chills thru tengoir it was really dimensional feels heaven it's connecting you to a story that even if you don't know the language you can feel everything every movement and force he delivers it's like haunting from a nature soul pierced and raw.

Yup . understand your reactions. Hes .... words are hard and just words.. hes extremely great singer... Absolute one of my favorites.... Happy to see you enjoyed this..
The heaven. He sang this song for her daughter in heaven. And the lyrics is an image of his heavenly hometown in Mongolia's prairie. He presented it differently nowadays because the place is not as beautiful as 20 years back
this is traditonal mongolian singing style,as someone who is half monoglian its so nostalgic to hear the music and lyrics in this song, reminds me of my grandma and my childhood, some of the lyrics are in mandarin and some are in mongolian. Thanks for revewing art like this, its too rarely known in north america!
The song "Heaven" was written by Tengri himself and had been sung in English, too. Here is the English lyrics (almost same as the Chinese version): "Heaven" by Tengri I see a blue sky,Over a green lake,Vast is the grasslandThis is my homeland.Horses running wild there,Sheep as white as snow, girl wait for me,Where my heart' s at home.I love you,my homeland,My homeland,my heaven.I miss you,my homeland,My homeland,my heaven. This song is about he miss his hometown. he sing “this is my home my heaven.” But in fact I think he was just singing for his daughter who passed away in 6. she is in heaven now. that is why the song touch you. so many feeling and deep miss for his little girl. At the beginning, two artists, playing Inner Mongolia horse-head fiddle, singing “Hu Mai”,a traditional way of singing in Inner Mongolia, one singer uses his own vocal organ to sing two vocal parts at the same time.
Спасибо за тёплую реакцию! Наш певец монгол ТЭНГЭР - НЕБО Прекрасен!! Играют наши монголы Китая на инструментах - морин-хур и поют горловым пением - хоомей, хумай.
He is a Chinese Inner Mongolia singer. There are grasslands everywhere there. And the people love singing and dancing. He got typical Mongolian minority style. You can imagine how the sound travels across the grassland with wind sounds like, crescendo or diminuendo, unpredictable.
Mongolian throat singing is the word you're looking for. BTW I'm glad you reviewed something different and appreciated the artistic value despite the different language. Good job.
The throat singing is INCREDIBLE. He is truly Mongolian thru and thru. and very proud of if Totally in love w/this guy. even you don't understand what he singing...but you still crying...he singing for his daughter...he love miss she so much...but she daughter in the heaven (dead)
I wish they could have English subtitle. The lyrics are even more touching. It's a man's love about his home, or the place that he was born and has grown up from. Very romantic.
The "term" that you talked about 2:10 is called "Khoomei" in Chinese. Its a traditional Mongolian ethnic singing method, widely used in Inner Mongolia (a state of China), also in Mongolia.
Teng Ger Er is his name, which should be three syllables as "təŋ“ ”gə“ ”ər“ when you say it. He is a singer from Inner Mongolia in China and he is a mongolian. HEAVEN is a song he wrote in 1997 when he was 37 years old, and HEAVEN refers to the grassland of his hometown in Inner Mongolia. But the show in this video happened in 2018, that was 8 years after his 6-year old daughter died of some kind of congenital disease. So i think his feelings in this singing must be different from the earlier's, which might mix the love for his hometown and his little daughter, and that's why many female listeners are deeper moved by this version than male listeners.
He is an inner mongonlian Chinese singer, the outer mongonlians arentcreative as inner ppl, inners good at combining traditional music with indie rock style,I have listened lots outer songs as Well,u guys cant compare inner mongonlia is getting greener and greener, but outer mongonlia is desertficating, and outer mongonlia is so poor that outer ppl come to inner to steal things, and u are notorious in Korea as Well. those are the inner mongols told me about, and outer Mongolians using Russian characters, they abandoned their own traditional writings, they cant learn in academic but inner Mongolians kept their writings and culture very well with Chinese governments help, as u can see so many ethic minorities singing in national tv. and they always get more welfare than Han lol Inner Mongolian has 20%of inner Mongolian Chinese, the rest of them are Han, but we found inner Mongolians work as hard as Han Chinese, and we appreciate them, the GDP of inner Mongolia is at least 5times bigger than outer, as ppl work hard in there I'm a Han Chinese form northern China as well and I always admire inner Mongolian culture.

Awww.... i’m eager to see your reaction on that video of KZ.... you’ll definitely LOVE HER MORE! Not to mention she’ll make you giggle and she’ll take you to another place and watch out on what other talent KZ has! 😉
The song in some part is about his hometown -----the huge and beautiful grassland because nature was injured and the scenery in his hometown gonna disappeared.
That’s throat singing what you want to figure out~ but there’s more thing that impressed me a lot which is the head voice hooooooooo he is not actually doing it releasing the air, but taking it in. It’s way more difficult to make it happen when you’re singing.
I felt like this song needs a bit explanation/ translation from Chinese in order for the English viewer to have a better understand. I hope my comment would help. First, a bit about the singer, Tengger, he is a Mongolian Chinese, and currently a rock/folk singer. He sung this song in his prime many years before, check that out if you are interested, and you can definitely tell that his voice was much more wild, full with nomadic-type characteristic. In this video, he is really like aged, and he is trying to express this song in a much more mild and loving way. Next, about the song and lyric. This song is about a nomadic person singing about missing and loving his hometown. The lyric is repeating the same block and very simple straightforward. I roughly translate the lyric below in Chinese and English. Please ignore my poor translation, and only focus on the sentiments it trying to convey. 蓝蓝的天空:Oh the blue sky, 清清的湖水:the crystal clear lake water, 绿绿的草原:the beautiful green and endless prairie, 这是我的家:this is my home 奔驰的骏马:the galloping stallion 洁白的羊群:the undefiled flock of sheep 还有你姑娘:and you, my girl 这是我的家: this is my home 我爱你,我的家:I love you, my home 我的家,我的天堂:my home, and my heaven 我爱你,我的家:I love you, my home 我的家,我的天堂:my home, and my paradise I'm a minority race in China, and my family is from a branch of the Mongolian Chinese. 可以这样翻译,home也可以表达出表示家乡的意思。歌词前面写了“绿绿的草原~ 这是我的家”也已经说明了

the most emotional thing which make audience moved is not his vocal but actually the lyrics .!
