Saturday night, home during a blizzard, in a dark room under a few blankets, watching these awesome vintage ghost documentaries.
Oh, that is absolute BLISS to me.🎉
Just stumbled onto these little gem's. What great documentaries. Never heard or seen any of them until today. They sure aint making doco's like this anymore. Robert Hardy sure brings a class act to narrating like David Attenborough was to wildlife. RIP Mr Hardy.
Lisa Rua His brother is the famous doctor in “Jurassic Park”. Both brothers have gone home to God now.
After 3 months of Robert Hardy's passing, did not know that he passed away in Aug. 3rd, 2017. He was a great actor. Our family enjoyed his work. Thank you for posting /sharing the segments with his narration.
The castle gosht attack me I'm just missed the ghost hand thank good 😢
I really liked this documentary. Perfect for a dark and stormy night with a candle and cup of hot tea!

@@bencooper6702yes you are.
Thank you for uploading these wonderful series narrated by Robert Hardy, who at 71 looked decades younger and is a total class act besides being a talented actor with a wonderful voice. Gave meaning to the terms aging well and gracefully. Wonderful!
1AstuteBella this programme is from 1995, so he would have been 20+ years younger then.
He passed away last year at 91, so he would have been about 71 when he did this.
I just saw these documentaries and I had to wiki the guy...!
Hardy is great in this program, but everything else in it looks like a comic parody...
@@JulieWallis1963he was born in the 1920s so he'd be in his 70s when this was filmed.
@@runenummedal6957no it does not.
Oh, those gorgeous trees and streams in the beginning. Absolutely gorgeous. 0:50
I visited Wales in the 1970's. It was pure magic. Sheep everywhere on the roads, walking through the towns. People sitting together speaking Welsh. Very friendly, very beautiful and very mysterious. I fell in love with it.
My paternal grandfather was born in Wales in 1884, emigrated to US at the turn of the last century. Graham Phillips researched 25 years through both documents and archeological discoveries, wrote a book about the true Arthur coming from Wales. Another on Merlin. Wonderful to read. Evidence of actual 'Camelot' and Arthur's burial locations surprising. Great research and presentations. Possible end and burial place of the true Merlin left me smiling. Phillips has many great videos on RUclips. Best to all.
Thank you for posting these four great documentaries. Good to see the extremely talented and youthful Robert Hardy who is 71 years old at the time, yet sounds, behaves, and looks 20 years younger. Star quality both the programmes and the man. Bless you all.
Thankyou dear Robbert Hardy, this brought me back to my childhood were the highlight of my days were spent watching with my Dad, “All Creatures Great and Small” and dreams of being a vet like you, and my Dad getting to relive his childhood on his family farm. What a legend you are and never forgotten. 💐🌷🌸🌼RIP.
I first came to love Robert Hardy in the stupendous "All Creatures Great and Small". Wonderful performer.
I enjoy watching this series every October as I work on Halloween arts & crafts. Robert Hardy is excellent host.
Sir Hardy has a very hypnotizing voice once you get used to it, and is a wonderful storyteller. The videos and special effects are decent. I think anyone who likes hearing about ghosts would like this series.
Plus, it's perfect for ESL students.....
Never knew this one existed. I've seen England, Ireland and Scotland. Thanks for putting these up, remember watching these growing up, always my favorite right next to Unsolved Mysteries.
I remember when these first aired in 95. Used to stay up late to watch them on sleep overs at a good friend’s house. Seemed like I was there every weekend, and every time, we wondered which one we’d get. My friend had seen Wales and really wanted me to see it. But more often than any other, we got Scotland. Never got to see this one until I bought a DVD collection years later. Good to see it here!
I remember watching this as a kid over 20 years ago. So happy someone took the time to upload it, I thought I'd never find it again
This is so fascinating. I love that it's not just a show about ghosts, but Robert actually dives really far into the actual history and back stories of the ghosts and their lives. It's really intriguing.
I once lived in a house that had the ghost of a cat, which you could see and it left paw impressions on the bedsheets. Also in the house was what appeared to be a man and a woman in clothing from around the 1920s to 1930s. I once saw the woman's face and head very clearly, she had a short bob cut and worn a tight fitting hat that looked almost like a bathing cap. The man had a suit and briefcase and would repeatedly walk from a hallway to the front door, unlock a chain lock and exit the room through the closed door. I examined the door frame since there was no chain lock on the door at that time, but there was an oval mark on the door frame where there may have been once a chain lock.
I would play old records in the house at night and very often in the room was dark, I could see the image of the man and woman dancing in a waltz around the room. I feel that this couple had probably live and perhaps died in the house sometime in the past and still their energy remained in the place.
The "Over Look".?
Fabulous. Thanks for the comment. Do these ghosts scare you?
Very cool
Cool story. I've had paranormal experiences with ghosts since I was a kid. I don't know what a ghost is, exactly. But I've seen some and heard things I couldn't explain. Fun stuff!
@@silverstuff182 at first it was more of a shock, because I had had a few encounters before but they were nothing like what U had experienced in that apartment. But also I had grown up with shows like In Search of and Mysterious World so I did have a believe in spirits or ghosts, just seeing them so clearly was a shock.
Thank you for uploading this series. I've enjoyed it since I first saw it in the 90s. I wish they'd made more for other countries.
Ditto the year after this ended I had assumed Castle Ghosts of France would air but never did
I've visited Gwidyr Castle, So much history and the ghost room is amazing. loved seeing this.
I've always wanted to see the Gwidyr Blimp.
Thank you posting these gems of ghosts stories presented with superb narration and with history and the beautiful old mansions and castles in which they occurred.
fantastic voice. love Robert Hardy.
Thanks for posting this,I`ve been to Carew Castle a few times, its an amazing place. Was really happy to see it on here.
Great series & wonderful to see Mr. Hardy as well! Love all his work, Seigfried Farnan et al!
My Uncle passed away on Thursday and his ghost has been seen in his home yesterday by a cleaner. They are real. He lived there for 50 years.
1997 back when TLC, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel and History Channel were all awesome and actually educated the public rather than entertain.
If I were in charge of Discovery communications, I would most certainly bring back the good old days of Animal Planet and Discovery Channel, as well as for the other channels and turn the Hub/Discovery Family back into Discovery Kids.
I agree 100%
Yes, but now all i know that changed is that channel 119 i think was where these once educated channels showed now is a channel where cartoon and family games are shown. Im not sure if that still goes on because i dont watch that channel, i watch others
But you have to admit that an enraged ghost monkey is pretty damned entertaining.
I would not call this bunch of ghost stories anything but entertainment.
4 years ago my beloved cat, Sparkplug, was killed by coyotes. The very next night as I was waking, my soul returning to my old body, I felt her fur as she , in astral body, was curled in the same spot on my bed that she used to favor.
This exact manifestation happened to me. One night in the San Fernando Valley the temperature reached 110 degrees. My beloved cat, whom I had for a long time and to whom I was very attached, wouldn't stop pacing and meowing. She wanted to go out. It was so hot I decided to let her out. That night she never came back. I found her with a crushed head just along the curb. I was heartbroken, But the second night I felt her body curled around my head at night. I put my hand up there and there was nothing there.
I sometimes feel a cat sliding across my legs and when I look down there's none there , I feel like it's one of my kitties that have passed letting me know they still want to try to trip me up... love and miss them all... still...
This is so nostalgic, reminds me of being a kid in the nineties watching this in my grandparents living room.
Castle Ghosts of Wales dated 1995, but an interview with a student who claims to have seen a ghost in 1996 is in it. Minor misdate issue. Still a great series!
Im pretty sure this came out in 1997.
It came out in 1997. The year was wrong.
I just love this whole miniseries so much, this was done with such style considering the topic matter! also
This is the one with the wacky baboon story, and that makes it the best entry in this truly excellent series.
Excellent. Thanks for uploading.
with this episode I've seen the whole series--just a bit sad as I wish there were more!! classiest, best researched ghost series ever--and Mr. Hardy is fantastic---
Great voice, you could listen to it all day and night 👍👍👍🐎🐎
Thank-you for posting! I feel drawn to Wales - my favortie poet of all time - Dylan Thomas _ was from Swansea (sp?), and a great actor, also, who I love among actors, Richard Burton, was also from Wales. I love the Red Dragon, though I should research his character! cheers
I feel the same way! Wales is such a beautiful place with beautiful countryside and I'm also half Welsh
Thank you for uploading !!
Very interesting stories...
and the scenery is beautiful...
Wonderfully researched historically& filmg+ narration well done! Definitely recommended as a most see for those who sew documenting their own work and experiences! WELL DONE!!!
I really miss these charming shows
Robert Hardy adds just the right touch
He's still going! 90 years young, cool! Just looked him up :) always loved him :)
Leikili H, He sadly died last week , 91. RIP Robert Hardy.
i break rules all the time, but touching someone still stands however
great show! Thank you! Wonderful stories. I love the one about Princess Nest
Freaking love these videos. Thanks for the upload!
Thoroughly loved the documentary.... So well made and narrated....
Robert Hardy was the perfect choice for this, such a great storyteller
He comes across as someone who genuinely believes in what he says. Which really adds to it.
Awesome thanks I loved this program as a kid
You know, its really sad that england, scotland, and ireland can preserve thier extremely haunted castles but america cant preserve thier mansions of old that are rich in history as well, what a shame it truely is. 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
That writing on the brick looks like it was written by two different people, at different times, firstly just the owners' initials were there, and then the heart was added much more recently.
Thank You for uploading all of these, it is one of the better Documentries of these types of apparitions.
Great videos in this series, and the narration is uncommonly good! Thanks for sharing!
P.S. That mean old fart should have left that monkey in its natural habitat. Can't blame the monkey in all that mess.
I love Gwydir castle it's just up the road from me, never seen any ghosts there but then I am spiritually barren
Alison Browning
Alison Browning lucky, I wish there were cool places where I live lol
Just ask for a sign. No one is spiritually barren. We are of spirit. You live in an incredibly spiritual place. They're everywhere and nothing to be afraid of. :)
What you watching this for then
@@lucylincoln3285 your deluded
I love this. Thank you for showing the full episode. Cheers!
I remember watching this series when it premiered. Well done. Hardy presents it top rate! Brits always do a first rate job!
It's still holds up and is actually creepy if you watch it late at night.
Ass, I'd say they do a FIRST RATE job almost always!!!! This is a lovely, horrifying, first-rate job! cheers
... or at the dark hours before the down at 5 a.m. with the white fog shrowding every part of view in your window :)
Shit on the brits
The story of the drunken and bitter old Sir Roland Rhys and his Barbary Ape "Satan" is probably my favorite. A bit of poetic justice , with Rhys getting killed by his own pet just after trying to have him kill that merchant.
More fitting, is how those two are condemned to wander the ruins of the castle where they once sat around wallowing in misery, bitterness and alcoholism...
I can't imagine a worse hell. I've been there......alcoholism, bitterness, pill addiction, etc.. I straightened out myself over 5 years ago, I wish Sir Roland and his mandrill had done the same!
Actually, I'm pretty sure that monkey was a Mandrill.
Interesting documentary! Nobody really knows the real truth concerning the life of Princess Nesta though.
Thank you for the lovely video!! :)
Oh, that beautiful scene where he is sitting on a rock by the gorgeous running creek (don't know what the Welsh call it). Awesome natural beauty in Wales. 0:51.
All Will Be Well it’s called Fairy Glen
Creek in Welsh is 'nant'
Love this series....thank you!
I truly enjoy the whole series of ghost documentaries done by Harding
E. C. Stout Robert hardy not harding
Ok
E. C. Stout nice patch
This series is wonderful to watch. I never get tired of watching them
the one about the princess was so sad.
I've seen the other three in the series (thanks History Channel!) but not this one. Thanks for posting it.
Thank goodness for Hearst buying that one castle wreck and restoring it. He also bought some of the panelling that was stripped out of Gwydir, so that couple living there now were able to find and replace it to where it belonged...I seem to recall it was the dining room but not sure. It's really disgusting when these houses and castles get stripped of their panelling!
Or painted over. I can't watch certain home renovation shows because some of those people and their awful habits of painting the beautiful stone or brick.
@@Cypresssina Ugh! I don't like that either. I was just looking at a cute little brick house here in town that had been painted over, just a little ranch style thing.
Thank you sooooooooo muccccccchhhhhhhh for uploading these :)
Awww, I wouldn't mind having a ghost dog (of the non-hellhound variety) happily living in my house. Just think, you'd have a canine companion who would never die because he's already dead... and dead dogs don't poop.
Maybe there’s a ghost pet shop?
I remember these "castle ghost" documentaries. I first saw them in the mid 90's on the A & E channel. They scared the he'll out of me. Great stories.
Seems Robert Hardy passed away today. R.I.P.
Very fun series, I saw it many many yrs ago.
I do enjoy that it says 1995 but at least one of the stories takes place in 96. It was made in 97 which makes me feel not so old.. at least a little.... a very little
I recorded these on vhs when they first aired. Great times! The quality here is surprisingly good. 👍
Robert Hardy, what a brilliant narrator is he.
Splendid documentary! I've always enjoyed these shows, and although I can't see, the paranormal is familiar to me. Sometimes, these experiences go beyond the 5 senses, or at least they involve more than the ones we have.
Sigh! The number of times archaeology loses out to over zealous authorities!Poor harmless dog.
Yes indeed a horrible tragedy and a miscarriage of justice.
I sometimes think about being an earthbound ghost after my own time comes. ^_^
Ghost kinda scare me, but I wouldn't mind a playful ghost-dog. It's kinda sad how his ghost disappeared after his bones were destroyed, it seemed like he had fun playing with the living dogs. ;-)
Yes ghost puppies are sooo cute!!!
is both Sir John Wynn and the servent girl he murdered haunts Gwydir Castle, didn't anyone think to ask what her name was? maybe then they would discover what the single letter (i) stood for.
The letter I is also Latin for Jane.
That welsh princess is my 29th aunt my line descends from her brother on one of my British lines. I’ve only just found this out so interesting. I’ll go visit that castle now lol.
absolute BS.
This is where one of my grand parents came from.. The other came from Canada great and grandparents.. I had lots of uncles and Aunts when I was very young.. My little sister had mild darker skin tone I was and still am so pale I hate it trying to find makeup to give me some color .. Wales is a spooky place to me..
You are so funny. 😂 I’m the same, “white as a sheet” my Mother would say while pinching my cheeks before she’d open the front door, incase I’d give the visitor a fright.
Great series. Mr. Harding is a wonderful host/actor.
Yes, he was.
Why did the police burn the dogs bones without asking? That's really sad he should have had a proper burial
aliceheatherlogan it's a dog
Mary Murray It wasn’t their place to make that decision. Besides some of us bury our dogs instead of treating them like trash.
Bunch a ideits
Yeah and we need more happy ghosts like the cute little puppy!!!🐶🐕
Check out, ''JOHNNY THE GHOST OF BARGOED'' A true welsh ghost experience that actually occurred in the 1970's.
Andrew Dexter hey again!
Thanku I shall check it out! Love this type of history.
New Zealander snuggled up in a blanket with hot cocoa and true ghost stories? Yohoooo!
Great true ghosts stories. Robert hardy is very good at telling ghosts stories 👌😀
I stayed one night, many years ago at a hotel called the white lion in cerrig y druidon.
I awoke at around 3am to find an old lady dressed in typical black dress with bonnet and black shoes sitting in a rocking chair in the corner of the room.
I awoke my partner who also could not comprehend the apparition that appeared before us.
The figure eventually dispersed and disappeared.
Next morning at breakfast.
I explained to the landlady of the hotel the apparition that we both had seen.
"Don't worry." she said "It's only old Meg. She visits many a guest staying in that room."
What made Old Meg die and visit?
thanks man! what number of room you are stayed in?
I'm proud English but also
very proud to be a part of the United Kingdom, and there is nothing more beautiful than our collective history and the countryside and buildings of our four glorious nations. Long may we be united to love and celebrate each other. Rule Britannia.
I loved his work very much!!😢 RIP Robert Hardy. ❤
It's wonderful to see the tale of Princess Nest (not much is on the 'net about her, sadly). My family and I named one of our new baby chicks after her!
Robert hardy was a nice man and I love his tales of ghosts and castles
Ohh thanx for uploading this video
The face in the begging scared me OMG
😂
I am very interested in this Castle, you see I am planning a vacation trip to England also Ireland probably3 week for 4 weeks vacation and I want to see it an experience all the treasures and history of England. As I watch different videos about haunted castles I'm noting down everything that's quite interesting. Now it being 2018, does Peter and Judy still own that property ? Well also thank you so much for this video the history, the Legacy, and the hauntings of this monumental Castle.
i really enjoyed playing sir john tirrit in this episode the shoes were uncomfortable to walk in and I had a bad back as usual I think the pipe tobacco was condor and I had the pleasure of briefly meeting mr hardy also had a ghost experience whilst waiting to get in too costume it was filmed at Gwydir Castle the dule that is
thats cool
Tom Dawson what for real?
Tom Dawson. Awesome
Wales.. how I love thee
@ *4:46* they speak of a sighting of an apparition, "in summer of 1996". The series may have started in '95, but I know this is later, as I recall watching it when it first aired in 1997.
I absolutely love this series!
You're brilliant in all creatures great and small and Harry Potter
The heart wants what the heart wants. ❤
They should make more of these with Charles Dance.
I'm from Ireland. Did you know that Ireland also has a White Lady Ghost? She is the spirit of a young bride who took her own life after her father unwittingly killed her fiancé. The story comes from Kinsale in County Cork.
Thanks for sharing. Interesting, story.
I think that this would make a lovely place to visit someday because I do belive in ghosts and the supernatural so this would be a cool trip to take someday if I ever get the money.
Stefan Gingrich You really should visit wales, it’s breathtakingly beautiful. Great food, welsh lamb is always a treat, seafoods are also great. Lovely, cosy pubs with roaring fires, local ales and even welsh whiskey, a gorgeous accent, castles, rugged hillsides and mountains, waterfalls, tales of dragons and boat rides through mountains. I highly recommend a visit there, it’s my favourite part of the uk.
Anybody know who played Sir Roland? Guy did a Shakespearean job!
Poor Thomas!! I wonder What happened to his family who lived in that castle. Poor them.
Anyone who has a Mamdrill as a pet is crazy! They have canine teeth the size of a tiger's
That's spelled Mandrill.
This way i have a kitty cat and a dog
According to the actual legend he acquired said ape from gibralter so that would mean that the ape was a Barbary Ape not a Mandrill, Still a big monkey but nowhere near as big or fierce as a Mandrill
That’s like saying that me owning and driving a 1965 pontiac GTO or a 1964 lincoln continental or a 1965 pontiac bonneville which I would if I had them is bad and you owning and driving a 2007 toyota prius or a 2015 chevrolet volt or a 2020 tesla model s or a 2016 nissan leaf is good.
this can't have been 1995 since one of the stories cites a ghost sighting in 1996.
Very interesting. thank you for sharing.
Okay. yeah. Hiding behind a wall, grabbing a girl, and forcing her back against the wall does not count as seducing. That's called attempted rape.
Stacy K / Not back then , that would be a form of speed dating . when the royalty had a whem or erge to do something he did it ie .... It's Good to-be the King or Duke , Barron even Prince .
Stacey, I agree - seduction, even by an evil man, requires charm and acceptance. cheers
