Loved this video! I’ve been keeping busy with gardening and spending time with family. I watch a lot of gardening and homesteading videos on food preservation. Brilliant idea about saving for a vacation instead of buying wax ❤

I don't get tempted by "this list is so good" comments because it seems like those comments appear on every list from every vendor, every time lol. But I definitely get tempted by people raving about a particular scent. I just can't pass those up! I love the specific recommendations.
As for other hobbies, I've been cross stitching since I was in high school. It's a great creative outlet to work on while also relaxing at night and watching a show. It keeps my hands free so I'm not on my phone, but I still get to watch TV and wind down for the night.
I am obsessed with the Caleb Hammer Financial Audit channel on youtube. Think Jerry Springer and Dave Ramsey had a baby. It's so entertaining if you're into personal finance.

Keeping busy with non wax stuff like reading, watching tv shows I’ve been meaning to watch and staying off Facebook has helped me so much.

I love makeup videos and have been watching more of those again lately
I love makeup as well but i'm afraid if I go down that rabbit hole again, that I will start purchasing makeup lol

Yup! Epic fail for me....L3. I only started buying from her last year and not very much of it. Been holding it, started melting it, loved it and then she announces she is closing! Soooo, I've been scurrying to get my hands on everything that sounds wonderful to me!

I've been listening to Audible books like I'm getting paid to do it! I should start doing videos on books too, 🤣
I have a ton of nail techs I watch on RUclips as well as beauty, politics, strange and unusual, true crime etc. This is why I'm a premium member, I watch RUclips 98% of the time.
Hate my phone! I try super hard to ignore it because it takes sooo much time away.

I'm 50/50 on them. I suck on some goals but others I can stick to well. My working out goal always sucks haha You should! I just do them once a month and I would love to see what you are reading. I watch RUclips most of the time too, very little TV. I AM super glad I asked Chris !
Self compassion is so important! Thank you for highlighting this. I did buy this week, but slashed my list quite a bit. Yes, I get triggered when someone is raving about a list or scent. I love how you and Kim put this---it's prompting ongoing efforts to be intentional. I have had moments where I filled a cart then I was like wait I don't usually like these types of scents or I already have so many of that type of sent, etc. My phone use increased after I received some rough news amidst ongoing life challenges. Trying to get back to setting it down more and walking away. I'm trying to identify other rewards and hobbies. I did get on my bike again the other day, which felt amazing.Thanks for all your inspiration, Alexis!

Thanks for doing this video. I've been new to the candle and wax world since last fall and I can't believe how much money I've spent over these months. I use to travel a lot but since covid i kind of lost the itch. Please keep doing these videos to help us all put things in perspective.
It adds up very quick! I've always loved to travel and it was hard for me when we weren't able but I try to get out a lot now. Life is short! Thank you for being here and watching!
I am easily persuaded to purchase during a sale and then again when everyone shares their hauls. FOMO is real!! Before I had kids, I LOVED to read but sadly, I haven't purchased a book or even gone to the library in a long time! I need to remedy that. I miss getting lost in a good book. My other hobby is playing modern boardgames so I watch a lot of RUclips videos of playthroughs and reviews of boardgames. I don't have a regular group to play with though so, unless I can get my teenage boys to play, I mostly play solo. If you don't know, many new games that have been published in the last few years have a solo mode option built right in. Also, there are several places you can find where people have shared their own solo rules for a game that might not have one. That is however another hobby that can be a drain on the wallet. I've been paring down on all my hobbies, both for space issues and lack of funds. Your weekly updates are awesome to keep me on track. Thank you! 🙂
ahh that is so fun! That's something that I love about reading. It's free (or can be). I buy books occasionally if it's something I want to keep, but for the most part I get books from my library and listen to audio books through the library. I've always loved to read but got really into it again last Summer and have really been enjoying it. Buying books hasn't been too much of a temptation for me because where will I put them? Plus I read them and most of them I never pick up again. I'm glad these are helpful Molly! Thank you so much

New to you. Really appreciate seeing/hearing the flip side of wax melt community, And, the vulnerability you are sharing. Sharing ways to re-think and address the FOMO trigger. Love that! FOMO is a key marketing tack that works. What I remind my triggered self, (all too often) there is always more, and there is too much. Life jacket/oxygen mask scenario is spot on.
Glad you are here! I am the most guilty with over purchasing and I know I still will at some points in the future, but I'm hopeful to have a bit more self control and really think about what i'm buying. It's like a muscle that I need to work out. I think a lot of us are feeling the same so i'm happy to share how I feel. Always more to buy!

I do get tempted when people recommend or post their love for a certain blend. Especially since I’ve only been buying from most of these vendors for a year or less. I try to remember that most of these blends will be offered again, especially if they are popular, and I can always buy them in the future when I am not on a no-spend

I started my no-buy June 1st after buying new things almost every week. It’s been SO HARD. I bought a hair mask when a bunch of my CVS coupons were expiring. I really tore myself down but I did need one.

Thanks for being so candid and relatable!!! FOMO is triggering. I ended up going in on the Melting Memories preorder but kept my order relatively small ( used Scentsy commish to pay for it so girl math FREE right?? 😄) and I signed up for L&S customs but I figured it will be months before Im called so I can save and be responsible ( although that customs will be seriously unhinged 😅😂😂😂)

I am relating to the Super tarts weekly RTS temptations!! I even put some in my cart , then took out . I told myself the scents will be back.

I love that idea of saving for a trip by reaching your goal! 🛫 Maybe you could spend some time making a dream board of that big trip !! Something you could hang in your wax room to give you goose bumps when you look at it ! As a reminder when your tempted!!🥰

Always a great idea to give grace, to yourself and others 💖 love the intentionality of setting a goal and reward for your wax collection. I definitely am easily tempted when it comes to wax, more than anything else. I want to smell all the good smells! So I can very much relate to the FOMO when people talk about the lists. Teddy Bee’s was a hard one to pass up after watching the live. I made myself wait before buying and the sale closed early. I’m still unsure of it that was a good or bad thing, because there were some amazing sounding blends in my cart 🙃
Always the RTS! Look at it this way, now you can watch all the haul videos and hear what people think about the scents and make your decisions from there!

Great idea about the reward. A trip is a great motivator! Super Tarts tempts me every week and if I give in, I try not to be too hard on myself. L3 too; I didn’t know it was her last preorder ever. 😭
I need to get back into reading myself. Hopefully I’ll finish Crown of Midnight this week. Sometimes Booktube and BookTok get me too; I’ll just move from buying wax to buying books. 🤣🤣🤣
Summer you have to finish crown of midnight because Heir of Fire is amazing and you'll meet Rowan and he's like Rhysand! You NEED to meet him lol Get them from your local library. I only buy books I think I would want to annotate or read more than once (usually at least)
100% get triggered. I held strong from L3 though, so I’ll take the win.

I don’t really get tempted by seeing posts about a certain blend or an ‘amazing’ list…but seeing lists for a preorder or RTS especially for my favorite vendors is hard. I always manage to find scents I like. I have been limiting my time on Facebook, so I don’t become too tempted…that helps a lot. I’m not sure what will happen with Teddy bee’s lol but we’ll see. I really need to shop my own stash and use what I have…hoarding my wax does nothing for me, so I need to melt and enjoy it because that’s why I bought it. There will always be new scents to love and I have to keep reminding myself of that.
Always new scents to love! I'll be the first to admit that I will for sure be purchasing from TB haha but hoping to do really well this summer so that i'm in a good place before then
Unfortunately L3 has never performed in my home. My low buy/no buy includes cutting out vendors whose wax or 😊 customer service isn't up to par for what I want.
That is a great plan! If it doesn't work it doesn't work!

I’ve read books 1-4. I would love to finish this series this summer…so Empire of Storms would be next for me. I read Queen of shadows several years ago though. I may need a refresher, but not sure I want to reread it lol
Currently reading Queen of Shadows. I just finished Heir of Fire and I LOVED it. Can't wait to see how this series is going
I am so tempted for the RG RTS tomorrow...I read as well. I love reading a variety of things I am also into doing these walking challenges ( Pacer and the conquer) trying to lose weight before my summer trip and I got me some bad knees...
I love to walk too but it's been soooo hot here that I haven't done it near as much. I haven't looked at the RG RTS list so that's an easy pass. Try to stay busy during the opening and distract yourself!

I did the L3 pre order last week (which I anticipated) and that was it. Nothing tempted me because I was so extremely busy.

@@AlexisSchlueter I didn't have a choice! My parents are visiting for 5 weeks. It's been hectic. And they aren't loving the wax smell as much lol so I'm not melting as much

I left a lot of vendor groups recently. I was finding myself getting tempted by vendors that I don't typically buy from, but I'd see a preorder, see the all the hype and feel like I have to buy SOMETHING. I'm now limiting myself to only three vendors. But I skipped the L3 pre-order. There were great scents on there, but nothing really called to me. I'm going to try and hold out until I'm called up for customs. My spot should be coming up in a month or two. I did sign up for L&S customs. That and whatever her July pre-order list is will be the thing I go for.
Yes if you're going to be up for L3 customs then it's easier to skip a preorder because you can get whatever you want! I also signed up for the LS customs and we will see if I buy when the time comes. I have so much LS I have to be semi careful about what i'm grabbing
I've never tried super tarts so I'm luckily immune to that 😅

Sorry for all of the comments lol. I have stopped watching so many wax/haul videos also. I still watch some Scentsy stuff, but it doesn’t tempt me like vendor. I love your idea of rewarding yourself. I currently have 3 books going. I'm reading manacled on my kindle, listening to ghost 19 by simone st james on audiobook, and physically reading queen of shadows. No apology necessary. I love all the comments!
