The Dukes of Hazzard: Bo destroys Daisy's car

- From the 2nd season Dukes of Hazzard episode, "The Runaway." This is the last ride for Daisy's car, shown here as a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner. (a 1974 Plymouth Roadrunner was used in Season 1.) Sharp-eyed fans have wondered what the heck pops up in the back seat of the car as it's heading over the cliff. Probably a camera. All that aside, it's a great scene, though a tragic loss of a fine muscle car. Like us on Facebook: / dukesofhazzardcounty
I'm so glad they never digitally "fixed" these episodes. I always get a kick out of seeing extra General Lees in the background, cameramen in reflections, studio light setups not so well hidden, and mysterious stuntmen popping their heads up just before a vehicle makes a supposidly empty crash.
"Wonder what that'll do to the wax job." LOL I loved Waylon's narration.
dbgvk68 i was just about to say the same thing
Waylon Jennings was perfectly suited to narrate the Dukes Of Hazard.
Me too Waylon was the perfect choice OUTLAW COUNTRY RULES BABY
His band also played all the background music as well.
Just the way he says it too.
I remember I was so destroyed when I saw the Plymouth get destroyed all those years back. I always liked it more than the Jeep.
The nice thing about switching to the Jeep is it saved a lot of Plymouth roadrunner and satellites Friday being destoyed
From
@@robrozek9265 Now that’s a good point.
You don't see a lot of 71s
Could not see Daisy’s legs in the roadrunner tho. 😂
R.I.P Rosco(James Best -april 6 2015 aged 88yrs)...you brought many a smile to peoples faces with your bumbling ways and expressions........:(:(
Amen.
I miss him too much he was a awesome cousin
@@bryanbest8605 Wow, you're his cousin? That's so cool! I bet you have some stories to tell!😊
Bryan Best csn we be freinds?
@@bryanbest8605 was he really your cousin! Wow, you must have had so many great times with him!
I remember watching this episode as a kid. Bo and Luke borrow her car and she tells them "Not one speck of dust!". They end up driving it over a cliff, and she gets the Dixie jeep after that.
patluvsvettes i still miss her road runner though😐
Of course she also got back at them for it first, chasing them around the farm with a frying pan.
I’m wondering how can she afford that Jeep ?
@@smoothbro9711 At the end of the Episode. The Girl they all helped out? her Father got Daisy the jeep, Cuz he was Thankful, & RICH!
Devin Drew Thanks for the info u know if u have firestick the Dukes of Hazzard are on IMDb tv and u can catch all seven seasons
You know, that Roadrunner looks almost as good as the General Lee...
Bite your tongue
That’s actually a 71 satellite Sebring plus with a 318. The paint was Curious yellow while the 73 road runner sported a 440 and was blaze yellow. They stopped using the 73’s in the show because there were fewer of them built as opposed to the 71-72 model years
@@a.b.317 thought it looked more like a Satellite by the front end.
A. Bordeleau the Roadrunner used in season one was a 318 version.
That's racist.
Orange car bad?
The first time I ever visited California, I chuckled to myself how much it looked like "Georgia" in The Dukes of Hazzard, and also "Korea" in M*A*S*H.
LOL!!!! This show is still so funny, but when when Roscoe can't even chase them and screams "Freeze!!", now that's HILARIOUS !!!! Thanks so much for these delightful clips Brian!! 😂
Enos should have blasted rosco!!!!
I remember watching this episode new on TV. Man, seems like yesterday. What a waste of a rare '71 Road Runner/Satellite though.
Final line: "Freeze!" Man, nobody could do that like the great James Best.
What an AWFUL downgrade from a sexy Roadrunner to a clumsy, awkward Jeep! I still remember when it happened and I couldn't believe it.
I know they needed to make the General Lee shine more, but they could have at least given her a new Dodge Monaco or Magnum or... ANYTHING but a Jeep! It always looked like a red headed stepchild to me.
Well, it was easier to see Daisy's legs and watch her bounce.
Agreed. I didn’t care too much about the Jeep. The Roadrunner (Satellite) was awesome and more fast than the Jeep. A Dodge Monaco or a Dodge Polara would of made a very cool and fast replacement car.
Glad the general didn't meet that fate
cjmcglaughlin _ i mean it was 1979 1980 so of course they were able to sacrifice on 71 roadrunner they were still common in those days but little did they know how fine of a muscle car that is worth today
The General Lee is protected by the plot so it would be fine in the next frame
Plenty of others met a "fate". Can't believe they destroyed so many of those beautiful beasts making the show 💔
Bah! I wish the General Lee did go over the cliff, because I like Daisy's Plymouth Roadrunner more than her Jeep!
@@thewachannel4537 Same here.
all the dislikes are from daisy duke she loved that car
2:56 “Well…nuthin a good ol’ carpet rub can’t fix.” 😂
I like how they are concerned about the wrath of Daisy.
Can’t say I’d blame ‘em. Daisy’s gonna be mad as hell.
Note that the Roadrunner actually appeared once more after this albeit in erroneous form, which was in Hughie Hogg's debut episode "Uncle Boss" due to having clearly been filmed and originally intended to air sometime early on during the second season though for some reason it was withheld from broadcast until season three. Thus, the car shows up after falling to it's destruction and Daisy having already received the "Dixie" jeep because of said episode being delayed. This also resulted in other continuity gaffes like Cooter having a mustache and beard again (which Ben had later shaved off for good in the same season after a dispute with the executives which resulted in him temporarily walking from the show) and Enos being back as deputy, due to the episode which premiered his subsequent spinoff series having already been aired.
Isn't it interesting the things that can happen due to an episode being shelved during the season if was intended for and then later aired out of sequence?
"FREEZE!" Too funny!
No one ever realized the cliff looks like it resembles the 1971 duel cliff?
Daisy's car was too much of a star itself. It was so cool it diluted the screen status of the General Lee, so they killed it off. I always hated her Jeep and thought it was beneath her.
They actually killed it off because it was unreliable and hard to find parts for.
John Kifflom oh wow I always wondered why they gave her a new Jeep.
@@keonjenkins1852 Now you know. Glad I could help.
@Shaymer I'll take your word for it as I'm not a Jeep guy.
John Kifflom ..
I loved when she found out what happened to her car and then proceeds to chase them with a frying pan! Lol 😂
I figured she was gonna be pissed when she found out what happened to her car.
Did she really chase Bo and Luke with a frying pan?
@@kassieblackmon4761 Did she actually hit them with the frying pan?
@@waynemacfarland1546 No, or at least not on camera lol 😂
WHAT A DAMN SHAME TO WRECK SUCH A NICE LOOKING CAR.
Remember they wrecked over 300 General Lees.
@@bwtv147 in 1979 they were dirt cheap but agree cool car to just destroy great Car chase action tho
I'm a huge fan of the dukes of Hazzard and general Lee
the ending is the best. 😂😂😂😂😂 "freeze!!!!!!"
That guitar wail as the Roadrunner goes over the side. Love it.
Duke boys: *a mile away*
Rosco: FREEEEZE!
Ahaha! & Yeah, the sorely missed James Best
When you are older and rewatching this and you realize no where in Georgia looks like that definitely out west in California
I was just wondering while watching this if they filmed a lot of these scenes out in Malibu Creek Park - a famous filming location where they filmed shows like "M*A*S*H" and others. I should ask next time I go onto John Schneider's RUclips channel.
@@denisemayosky1955 they only filmed 5 episodes in Georgia the rest was in California. Not sure if was same filming location as mash but it wouldn't surprise me if it was.
jason boyd that looks like a place called Indian Dunes which was outside of Fillmore off of highway 126 in California. It is the same location that many episodes of The A-Team were filmed.
@@deezer5150 Wow! Thanks for the info!
Denise Mayosky isn’t that the same place Warner used to film BTTF’s Hill Valley and Ghost Whisperer’s Grandview New York? I think so, not sure though.
Anyone else notice the camera man pop out of the backseat as bo and Luke were jumping
Though Dukes remains my favorite show after all these years, I'm gonna say it: Roadrunner-era Dukes was better than Dixie Jeep-era Dukes. Although, to be fair, I'm still a bigger fan of the first five episodes.
Agree 100%
The first five were the best!
Same here. The first five episodes were good and were filmed in Georgia. I didn’t care too much about the Jeep. The Roadrunner was awesome and faster than the Jeep. It would’ve been cool to see a Dodge Monaco or Dodge Polara as replacement car for Daisy.
I got too meet Catherine Bach in person about a week ago and I had my model of her car with me that she signed as well as the sunvisor for my 72 Roadrunner
LiT!!
I meet Catherine bach when I was 6 years old and the frank and sons me and my dad got to take a picture with her and got an autograph I remember that she was sweet and kind
I was a bit upset when Daisy's car was destroyed.
My first guess as to the reason why would be that certain powers felt her car was just too much like Bo and Luke's car. And they decided that she should have a car that was more distinctive.
she ended up getting the Dixie jeep at the end
Dylan Lawless Well, true. I just kind of liked her original car.
me too
Yes you could be right. What a horrible loss... R.I.P. Satellite.
71 Plymouth. yeah but it was 1979 1980 when they flimed this there were more road runners out there in those days no one knew what those muscle cars would be worth today
When it came to one liners from a comedy standpoint, ol Waylon was a GENIUS!!! lmfao
I love when Bo& Luke outsmart Roscoe and Enos.
Ya...because Georgia looks like California with the big cliffs and mountains...lol I never thought about such things as a kid.
I wish they kept filming in Georgia. The atmosphere really fit the show. When the walking dead came on I was scared that it would suffer the same fate and they’d move filming to California or something. It’s been talked about a few times due to political reasons in GA but they never did it. Thank god. Georgia is a gorgeous place and fits both shows really well
I watched The Dukes religiously as a kid and I always thought that Daisy did drive a Road Runner. But that was no Road Runner. Road Runners had a different hood and exhaust cut outs on the rear valance. That was a Satellite. Sure hate seeing any Mopar get destroyed but that wasn't a Road Runner folks.
That Poor Plymouth Roadrunner :(
StoneColdReznov yeah but it was 1979 1980 there were more 71 roadrunner s out there when they flimed this no one knew how much. those muscle cars would be worth today they played with these cars like they were made for
It wasn't a road runner
It was the first five episodes of season one when Daisy used the '74 when made in Georgia. From ep6 to it's demise it was the '71 when filming returned to California. Does the original "Georgia" one still exist?
Whos head was that in the back set bet it was not Daisy's just watch real close yall see the guy that was really driving
seat*
I definitely remember Daisy chasing after Bo and Luke at the end of the episode like how Rosco was chasing Enos. Boy, was she mad!😆 Then later on, she got more than recompensed with her REAL "Daisy-mobile": the "Dixie" jeep!
Was she chasing them with a gun or with a frying pan?
@@waynemacfarland1546 Frying pan.

Come into my parlor said the spider to the bee... Uh I believe that's fly🤣🤣
I cried when they destroyed Daisy's first car.
Same here. Roadrunner > Jeep.
Man, Daisy's gonna be pissed!
What about the red solo cup on the hood at the lower right corner of the video at 1:54 and 2:09?
Three hundred Chargers, one Road Runner. Shame the boys didn’t favour Datsuns.
rip roadrunner
i thought that was a gtx
It also looks like there's something sitting on the hood of the car during the in-studio front end shots. Looks like an old Coke cup or KFC bucket.
Yessir. What a hell of a file-up. R.I.P. Satellite.
It was a soda cup.
2:07 Bottom right hand of screen (it'd be the driver's side front of the hood) for anybody who's wondering.
"Sharp-eyed fans have wondered what the heck pops up in the back seat of the car as it's heading over the cliff"
someone to control the car after they jump out???
I kinda figured that
I noticed that when the episode aired originally.
Watch closely when Bo and Luke bail out. Someone sticks their head up from the back seat.
+Joe Snow That's the stunt driver. The car didn't really go over the cliff. Someone had to hit the brakes. They didn't have brake servo motors and computer controlled killswitches back then. Notice the shot where the car is tipped off the cliff before it cuts to the interior. The wide angle shot, the car has no striping and is a duller matte yellow, like a cheap quick respray.
+MrWolfSnack stripes are there
+MrWolfSnack At 2:16 the car does have the striping over the back of the roof.
Lol
Joe Snow hahha I just noticed that
These Shows do bring back our fondess Memories
2:11
Look closely inside the car 😂
2:10 Tragic that they killed the guy who was hiding in the back seat (who pokes his head up after they bail out of the car) :( Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
ACKSHULLY.....
How about the drink cup on the hood at 2:06
Poor guy, the last thing he saw was them jumping out
Her: You ain't gonna squeeze through that. Me: Watch me
You know what’s weird? A few episodes before, Daisy has the Jeep.
There were still a few episodes with the Roadrunner in it even though it was destroyed.
It's a satellite Sebring not a roadrunner
I got a 71 satellite Sebring too but mines got Bahama yellow paint which is darker than the paint on this satellite
kevin121649
Wrong. Daisy's car was originally a 73-74 roadrunner but they started using
71-72 cars during the later part of the first season or early in the
second season. The car that went off the cliff was a 71-72 model.
+MrWolfSnack Learn the difference between a 73 and 74 and a 71 and a 72. It was a 71 that went off the cliff but they used both the 71 and the 74 that Daisy drove interchangeably hoping nobody would notice. There are episodes where both cars are used.
exactly right.
I've always wondered why everyone always refers to it as a Roadrunner.
who was in the back seat at 2:10 when they jumped out of the car ?.
Bo and Luke owe Daisy a brand new car.
one of my favorite episodes.
R.I.P. GOOD PLYMOUTH SATELITE OR ROAD RUNNER OR GTX ????
Either or loved that style.
1971 was the last year for the GTX. Hope it wasn't that.
what kind of car is the yellow one and what kind are the patrol cars?
'71 Plymouth Satellite or Road Runner and '77 Dodge Monaco police cars.
OK thanks
eldo59 it's a roadrunner
+Aziz Lamar technically a Satellite Sebring, the Sebring was a 2 door and the regular Satellite was a 4 door. Wrong hood to be a Roadrunner.
I know I've got a Satellite Sebring. Because I saw the rallye dash. I must have just didn't type Sebring because I'd been typing it on other videos and this one and was tired of eying the word Sebring. Yep its is a satellite sebring alright. I've done much research on the 71 73-74 since I got my 71 satellite sebring. From the dukes.
What happened to the person in the back seat?
what series is these
They were short on General Lee's that week so they decided to wreck Daisy's car for an episode till they could find more chargers
The Plymouth forever- "Dixie" NEVER!
💗
Poor Roadrunner
Noooooooooooo not the car!!!!! Not the car!
Loved her car
Gotta love ol Rosco. lol
@ 2:19, Daisy's gonna be pissed!
T.J. Worthington ha
The guy who did all the two wheel ski modes for dukes of hazzard and knight rider was stunt guy Buzz bundy. There is a video here on youtube, almost 6 months ago. He said the general lee was okay to drive on 2 wheels, even though it was a big car. He said he jumped KITT on knight rider. Had the belt too tight and broke his back. Also, he said his favorite two wheel stunt was doing James bond movie Diamonds forever. Drivers side up and then passenger side up
My favorite DOH episode of all.
Daisy's car probably had no brakes when the gas pedal was stuck.
LOL and they couldn't turn the key off either.
Between Bo and the Hazzard county cops it's a wonder how Chrysler went bankrupt. BTW I wonder what became of the Chevelle Luke drove in the pilot.
Let's be honest: On a scale of 1-10, how would you rank Daisy being angry?
For anyone wondering what that was that popped up in the back seat as Bo and Luke jumped out of the car, it was likely the head of the 'Blind Drive' stunt driver who was operating the car from the back seat. A similar technique was used in the series 'Knight Rider' when K.I.T.T. was required to 'self drive' without Michael at the wheel.
This is filmed in lyon oaks ranch couple miles away from magic mountain.
Did Daisys car have a name as well as her jeep did?
Why aren't they in the general
bo: no, i am in trouble, as tootie quote.
Why didn't they take a car each?
2:10 head pops up in the Roadrunner.
The RR was sweet but the CJ7 better suited Daisy. Plus, we could see more of her when she drove it.
Is that a 71 roadrunner?
Daisy Duke was pissed
See this person at the back seat on 2:11. How there was flames if the person was in the backseat after it explode?
How was* there* flames
after it exploded*.
Well, you see how the camera angles cut during the scene? This is a rare phenomenon known and described by my dad as "tv magic". However, later in life, utilizing context clues and deductive reasoning, we are able to discern that the scene where they jump out, a stunt man then jumps forward and brings the good camera car to safe stop. Later the camera magically jumps to the bottom of a cliff where they toss a junker, of a different model and year actually, with motor and other parts stripped and loaded with explosive charges and fluids of a special recipe to film the final shot. Ok? Or it may be that Bo&Luke were real people and agreed to just let cameras follow them around and document their life, I don't know for sure?
My first car was a 71 roadrunner. Same color. I loved that car
"And when the boys told daisy about what happened to her car....."
Firecriss she was pretty mad..
Remember that episode like it was yesterday
Rosco would probably faint in disbelief if the Dukes drove sensibly for once.
Then get them for going to slow gugugu
Can’t u hot wire it roscoe?
Yes Sir me an my dad we sit around the Zenith TV big square box wood grain nice
we both love th highway man
Why did the hood come up
Funny. At 2:11 you can see someone's head pop up in the back seat or center as Bo and Luke jump out.
0:43 image is reversed
Currently rebuilding a 71 roadrunner and this really makes me not want to sell it.
That particular car is a ‘72 Plymouth Sebring Plus. Not a Road Runner
Is there even one paved road in Hazzard County? Maybe they need to raise taxes.
I never liked that car anyway. Besides, you can see more of Daisy when she drives the Jeep.
That roadrunner 😔
Rosco & Enos were so fooled when they thought that Bo & Luke were killed when they went over the cliff in Daisy's car. Enos was clumsy to leave his keys in his car that Rosco had to chase him for that. Then later Bo & Luke had to face an angry Daisy after they told her that her car was totaled during their being chased by Rosco & Enos.
azure rainbow why did no one just restrain daisy to calm her?
Wasn't Daisy's car called a B body for some reason?
Yes it is. It is also the same car underneath for the Sheriff's car's whenever they used the Dodge Monaco.
