Finally Government should’ve intervened weeks ago. Too many people have been impacted by this strike including rural areas, small businesses and elderly.
Executives have always been waiting for forced arbitration and not caring about public. Why didn’t government do something before contract ended instead of 1 year after contract ended?
4 weeks is tooo long. The strike is affecting economy snd peoples lives. They need mediation to fix it. Why do canadians have to suffer ? This strike affects millions of people. I wish there were better ways to do this without people losing money and now christmas is ruined for many....
being a visible minority in my own country born here Canadian and can read and write English I could not get on Canada post but someone from God knows where can get on with a x I will never support their cause
Now they know what its like to work in long term care where we cant strike usually going years without a contract to only get 1.5% to keep people comfortable and alive.....so get over yourselfs and get back to work
Get back to work greedy on both side they could care less of us the people who they serve always hiking up prices money greedy and why do they always do it Christmas time horrible get back to work
Finally the government is willing to interviene !!!!!! A bit late for all the small businesses that lost most of the best sales of the year and people in rural areas have been left without their important mail. Canada Post MUST be restructured drastically or privatized!
I love reading all these comments and yes I work for the post office I'm a letter carrier for 34 years. People always say we don't matter who needs the post office. I guess people do need the post office or such an uproar and people are so angry. So I guess we don't have the right to fight for our own job people call us lazy people that have never done the job walk to 18 km a day in our shoes. Get over it people
Mess, so now strategize take examples from the USPS and diversify, partner and engage in a more customer-centric approach, a $748 million loss?? that's unacceptable!
Remember the NDP kept this government in power instead of calling for and election which would have gave you more bargaining time. NDP have sold you out again for Singh's pension
“Stay out of it. Don’t interfere. Don’t legislate these workers back to work. Don’t put in place 107 (binding arbitration). Let the workers negotiate a fair contract,” Singh told a scrum with media at the Delta Hotel, before heading to a rally at the nearby Canada Post building on Water Street. “I want to also put this on record for Justin Trudeau: If you bring back-to-work legislation, even if it’s a confidence vote, I will be voting against it, my team will be voting against it, because we oppose back-to-work legislation, we’re always going to defend workers.”
The govt stepping in is a blessing for the 55000 postal workers. Sure the Union will not admit this but this saves those 55000 workers from losing their homes and not being able to put food on the table should this strike go on. It has already been a month and strike pay is not nearly enough to live on, so each worker is about $5000 behind right now! Canada Post is not going to give in to the Unions unreasonable demands. Yes thats right, UNREASONABLE demands! And I do not blame them! How dare this %$#@ Union hold our postal system HOSTAGE like this at the busiest time of the year! Had this strike gone on longer there is no question of the catastrofic results it would have had on the 55000 workers and the Union would have been fully responsible for it!!! ''flips bird at Union''

About selling goods tax free: I have a question: we in Canada we have not use pennies for number of years, however, let alone corner stores to adjust to zero and five cents , even big brand name retailers did not. The stores do rounds to their liking to charge customers. I am not very good, in math or economics, yet what I know, those pennies do make a difference on business concerns. What I am trying to say tax free for 2 months, who actually going to benefit the most? How fast they going to adjust to it? I have a feeling, some people will make lots of money, yet near future revenue will be impacted.
...It's obvious you aren't good at either. Only transactions paid in cash are rounded. Ending in 1,2 = round down Ending in 3,4 = round up. This is the standard that was enacted when they eliminated the penny. Pay via electronic means (credit / debit) = no rounding. ~20% of all purchases were made in Cash in 2023 ~ this accounted for only 11% of the total value of all purchases. 80% of all purchases and 89% of the value of total purchases involve no rounding at all.

Gov't should never get involved with any strikes. It just handcuffs the workers as the you can now just out wait the process until the Gov't jumps in which such BS.
Now all you have to do is out wait the Gov't until they call you back, so no need to work with the union. You have no idea, fuck your feelings, they don't pay the bills
Labor minister says he is going to take all necessary actions to protect Canadians. What he thinks of 55,000 working class people and their families. Are they Canadians? This is slap in the face of all working class people. These workers bargaining with Canada Post over a year. What he was doing all these time.

Unions should NOT be able to go on strike for MONEY.
Agreed!😡
It’s so disgusting I’m fed up in Canada!😡
Intervention should be long ago
Finally
Government should’ve intervened weeks ago. Too many people have been impacted by this strike including rural areas, small businesses and elderly.

CP proved we can live with less. Lay off half home delivery. I can do fine with once a week to my mailbox.
Fine by me too besides packages. I already pick up my mail once a week.

No mediation with extortionists! Get back to work! Everyone knows postal work is the best job with the best benefits!
being a visible minority in my own country born here Canadian and can read and write English I could not get on Canada post but someone from God knows where can get on with a x I will never support their cause
They want to hire workers with no spine. Ones who can be treated poorly and won't stand up for themselves.
They are always hiring, keep trying.
@@Dr.xyzSaCho That is a bunch of B.S myself and couple of my friends tried for years no luck

Long term workers deserve much more than postal workers. I am sure there is another way for delivery
Defund them
How? It's not tax dollars
@@Dr.xyzSaChoCanada Post is a crown corporation. Canada Post doesn’t turn a profit. It’s definitely tax dollars that pay that.

Air Canada lol service sucks
Canada Post* not air Canada you idiot. Air Canada is still fully functional, unlike these babies working at Canada Post.
A warming blanket would be good, no?
Go back to work! Both of you are greedy! We are your hostages!
Leave them on strike - we are getting along perfectly well without those unionized idiots!

What Negotiations means for workers is to stretch that bag of flour further, and get back to work.
At least the lcbo gave us a warning. Post just stop shit
Be happy you have a job. I will never use Canada Post again. As far as I am concerned you earn too much for what you do
