Before Snowdin, it's all solo Papyrus before you meet Undyne commentary. Past Core, you can't call them, and when you get the True End, you can't call them anywhere, cause they ran out of batteries for their phone.
Welcome to UNDERTALE. In this RPG, you control a human who falls underground into the world of monsters. Now you must find your way out... or stay trapped forever.

Undertale draws heavily from Earthbound and Mother 3, but the core gameplay is very different from typical RPGs. Instead of selecting commands and having the computer calculate hits, each enemy attack brings up a smaller arena where the heart-shaped avatar of your soul must dodge projectiles like in Bullet Hell. Instead of winning battles only by attacking, you can choose to FIGHT an enemy or SPARE them.
Features:
-Killing is unnecessary: negotiate out of danger using the unique battle system.
-Time your attacks for extra damage, then dodge enemy attacks in a style reminiscent of top-down shooters.
-Original art and soundtrack brimming with personality.
-Soulful, character-rich story with an emphasis on humor.
-Created mostly by one person.
-Become friends with all of the bosses!
-At least 5 dogs.
-You can date a skeleton.
-Hmmm... now there are 6 dogs...?
-Maybe you won't want to date the skeleton.
-I thought I found a 7th dog, but it was actually just the 3rd dog.

Papyrus is pretty different compared to how most fans portray him.
ExAcTlY.
That's why he's my favourite character.
Everyone portrays him as either constantly angry and yelling and swearing at Sans because he made one pun, or an innocent child, when really he's neither of those things. Neither of those versions of Papyrus would do what Papyrus did at 21:16.

7:37, real talk, was Alphys about to commit suicide? "Staring into the abyss", and standing on the edge, where all the garbage was...thinking herself as garbage. Did Undyne unwittingly save Alphys?? It's implied that Alphys commits suicide when she ''disappears' in a lot of the Neutral runs and she has a very, very low sense of self worth. I think Alphys is suicidal, a least when she's at her lowest (if you think about it, if we're following my theory that means that Undyne is the reason Alphys didn't commit suicide and in the Neutral runs Undyne dying is the reason Alphys dies as well). My poor, poor suicidal dinosaur.

7:31 Now here’s something really depressing about this phone call.
In the Neutral Ending where Mettaton dies and Toriel, Papyrus, and Undyne are spared, it suggests that Alphys falls into a depression after the loss of one of her best friends, combined with the amount of her anxiety and low self esteem and the guilt of what she did to the patients for the Determination project, Alphys goes to the Garbage Waterfall, and lets herself fall into it.
Papyrus- “Undyne’s the one who has it bad she kept mumbling “I couldn’t protect her”.
Undyne first met Alphys there not knowing she had thoughts of killing herself. So at that she saved her. But she was too late now. Papyrus (not knowing you were partially responsible for this) suggested if it would make her feel better to get revenge on you. But she said “Revenge won’t bring anyone back”.
Alphys’ thoughts for her suicide was hinted in a few other instances like the King Mettaton Endings and the end of the True Lab arc where she said if it weren’t for you she would’ve done something cowardly. Other neutral endings also say she goes missing when Undyne is killed too.
Let’s just be glad she ends up happy thanks to us in the True Pacifist Ending.

As far as I know, Napstablook's cousin was Mettaton, and just sort of possessed a robot body.
Shyren's sister nearly died, and was experimented on in the true lab to see if she could be saved, and ended up melting, along with a few other monsters, into "lemon bread." After the pacifist route, she went back to waterfall and can be found next to Shyren

+Sydney DeMarco I thought about those dates the same way first, too, but if you think about it: Chara was the one who fell down into the hole in 201x, not Frisk- that we are looking at CoolSkeleton95 etc. that way is only due to us playing the game in 2015, so we just assume, not knowing the details and facts yet, as we should at the time.
And, considering that based on the intro weapons (medieval times?), it took at least 500 years for them to fall down there in 201x.... the date Undyne, Papyrus and Napstablook use in their handles could very well mean anything ranging from decades to a couple hundred years later or before on the timeline as we don't know how long the average monster lifespan is, but very young Chara's presence suggests that humans are moving closer and closer due to suburbs and such so "fallen-down-incidents" may have gotten more frequent. Hell, maybe that big-ass city in the pacifist ending background was the village Asriel and Chara visited once upon a time.
If anything, though, Napstablook could definitely be someone who was born before 2k, as they are a ghost and immortal in at least one way.

A lot of people miss these conversations and honestly it makes me appreciate them all the more for all the extra detail and personality they added to the game. It felt like having actual friends just a phone call away.
There's so much characterization tucked into them too and as much as I usually don't care for the term brotp (at least the way it's used for No Homo purposes) I think it encapsulates Papyrus and Undyne perfectly. In their case it'd be No Hetero anyway, which is 100% fine by me, given that they're both gay as hell.
