- Let’s go sightseeing in Yellowstone, Wyoming! This family trip will include highlights around Lake Yellowstone and Grant Village. After getting my van stuck in the desert and not knowing how long it would take me to walk to get help (full video here: • Hiking For My Life. ) I was so happy and content with seeing natural wonders in an easy, convenient, and safe way. But this way of experiencing nature has its pros and cons!

i would think there could be bad things that could happen on any trail .myself the worst things i ever encountered was copper head snakes ..to many of them where i hike...yeah Yellowstone is a beautiful place. glad you and your parents could check it out together

That was a fun trip and seeing family like that was a neat surprise as a viewer.
I was a kid in the early 70's when I was lucky enough to visit Yellowstone. We were one of those Boomer families who piled into a station wagon pulling a pop-up camper and visited the national parks.

Navigation with Google maps...hmmmm. i live in the North Eastern US. People, roads, cities everywhere as far as the eye can see. Google maps is often a fail for me. I don't know what else might be useful for back road navigation, probably costs money. Perhaps mapping program would sponsor you for the costs.
I have read stories of people going out in remote areas and perishing using the Google app. ATB

I hope you and your parents were not around Biscuit Basin. They had a major geyser go off there yesterday.
I love Yellowstone in the winter. We have done the snowmobile tour there several times.
No, I'm already back home and they were on their day off in another part of the park. Luckily!
I live in a very rural area, Google shows many roads that are not there anymore or are on private land, etc. they devote very little effort on roads that almost nobody uses,, I trust Google on main roads and towns not in rural areas.
A man died in the mountains when he and his family took a Google shortcut the led to nowhere. He went out in the storm to seek help and died of hypothermia. Don’t trust Google maps.

I’m one of those folks that if I unfold a paper map in the navigator seat … I go off on my own explore just looking at the map .. I seem to fall into the map …
I have been meaning to and should start exploring topographical maps too ..

Nice to see you with your mom & dad. Try not to recoil too far from your adventurous spirit - think of it this way, perhaps: "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone."(Neale Donald Walsch). There is also the notion of the risk-reward factor - a greater risk does not always result in a greater reward. Breaking into someone's car trunk involves great risk, and sometimes the reward is nothing more than a flat spare tire. These things must be carefully weighed, always with an eye toward discretion and safety. Be well, stay safe. 🥾

"I was going on a day hike, I didn't think I was doing anything dangerous" there's your mistake girlie! Always prepare for the worst and hope for the best!! A satellite messenger and extra water every time you step out for an adventure can be the difference between an inconvenient day or a really bad one. I love your videos, please don't doubt yourself! Just don't get to comfortable on those adventures!
To be fair, I didn’t just blindly do whatever I felt like on this trip, either! While I definitely could have been better prepared, I could’ve been worse off, too

Hoping to hike it someday! I would love to do it next year or 2026, but the physical pain, exhaustion, and discomfort of the AT makes me really reluctant to jump into another hike, even though there were good times as well!

Yellowstone is so surreal and awesome. My adult son and I visited a few years ago. We saw a mink! We also saw geysers, black bear, bison and wolves, though wolves through a borrowed high powered telescope lens. He was disappointed that we did not see a grizzly. I was not. Reminded him, we saw a MINK which is apparently very rare.

You have awesome parents!! I think you should have a hiking group or meetup group in the future. I’ve been watching older, retired women doing that and I want to do that when I’m retired or older. It seems fun and safer. I’m becoming afraid to do things on my own the older I’m getting! But with your knowledge and sense of adventure, you’d be a great person to do that and so many women can learn from you!! And I almost forgot, you have good taste in beer ❤
