Billy, haven't you realized yet that you have already found the treasure of the Covent? You have discovered Faithful Friends, the joy of bringing life back to abandoned hope, the beauty and satisfaction of a job well done, and the thrill of discovery. I know you might not be able to put a price tag on them, but they are worth more than jewels or money.
. Well, he knows. He knows. But that does not address curiosity, possibilities, adventure, dreaming and that thrill like when we were four years old and found that first Easter egg.
I suspect the treasure was not of monetary value but was of spiritual value to the nuns. Something they could not take into their personal lives but had meaning associated with the convent!
Now this is a plausible theory. Imagine having to give up a home you loved, and not just a home, but a great and grand place with deep meaning to you and your sisters, with great historical significance and long years of tradition and generations of love and work and toil. What a wrench it must have been, at least for a few of those remaining 8. What might they have done before leaving? Little acts of love and remembrance, rituals meant to help them let go of something that had been very much a part of their identities and their lives? Many things of value were indeed left at the convent, art and architectural elements and furnishings and the occasional piece of ironwork. It's seems very likely that at least one of those nuns left a token somewhere, even if it only had meaning for her. Anyone who has had to leave a beloved home forever will understand.
My bet is that the treasure is a relic or a blessed medal. There is a rumor that Mother Teresa hid blessed medals of Our Lady of Grace inside the Kremlin when she went there because it helps protect and consecrate the place to Mary and her immaculate heart. I think the nuns would do something similar
Also, I was thinking about the new plants along the wall, and water seeping into the basement walls? Great shots of the water flooding in. Quite the storm. Would have been a great time to go mucking about the top floor and watching Billys hair stand straight out! CHEERS
Remember that what is 'valuable' to a nun might be a favourite rosary or crucifix. I find it highly unlikely a nun would hide something and then plasterboard it up, so I was surprised you knocked a hole in a wall! 😂
Billy, find the stairs in the chapel that lead downstairs to the crypt and you will probably find the “treasure. “ hopefully it’s the artwork and statuary from the chapel!! 🤞🏼😁👍🏼
The crypt is generally in the same room as the altar right? Another spot would be the possibility of a compartment below the altar (if the convent dates to before the breakaway) where religious artifacts of Saints would have been kept.
They would place any important thing in or near the altar. I also noticed that the cross at the top of the chapel wall above the altar is a little crooked. Maybe it was bumped by someone putting something behind the faux wall?
So you’re a really old Nun, it won’t be up high. Or behind a plaster wall. It will be low and probably something easy to remove, why not search with the metal detector? Would be a great video.
@@roseericson3828 old doesn’t mean poor mobility. My uncle was 75 and had to have major heart surgery - with in six months the damn fool was climbing through the garage rafters and swinging himself up like he was a teen…./ crap, I’m just over 60 and I can’t do that - but I try at least lol
Billy when your friend Phil was at the convent about 3 days ago he thought he saw someone pass by a window on one of the top floors. He went up and walked around and he also though he heard a noise but did not find anything. He showed it on his vlog. You should ask him. There must be something if y'all keep hearing noises from the upper floors.
They took the treasures. Hiding valuables in place that you can never return to makes 0% sense. I suspect that any remaining valuables or sacred items were given the local diocese; that makes sense.
@@mrsducky3428 Also take into account that when they sold the convent, it was deconsecrated. I can imagine the nuns wanted to secretly keep something holy (which is of the highest value to them) in the building so it didn't feel to them as if they "abandoned their faith" - in the convent at least - in a way. I think the holy family and holy heart pictures in the hidden room were the hidden treasure. The convent was deconsecrated, but secretly it wasn't entirely. I think it would have made more sense to Billie if he had heard the treasure story first and found the hidden room later. Also, the way I know nuns, this might have been part "rebellion" (secretly leaving a token of their faith in a deconsecrated place), and part "humour" because anyone looking for monetary treasure would end up finding a picture of the holy family and might reconsider their motivations in life. Now I'm not religious myself, and besides that this theory is as good as any other. I just wouldn't count on finding piles of gold there.
I reckon getting the bell tower working again is the treasure. Or restoring the garden. Or the beautiful kitchen. Or the lovely flagstone flooring. There’s treasure everywhere at the convent Billy!
Billy I believe that the nuns that would quote haunt the place would be happy you're there to love it as much as they did and make it a home. And if they had something they would have put it someplace that meant something to them. Either their room or the chapel or even out in the gardens. Good luck I'm sure if they want you to find it you'll find it
Jane Post, What makes you think that the nuns loved that convent ? You obviously haven't heard the horrors that convents former inhabitants endure, because I have. Not a happy place for some, no ... for most. They were for the most part enslaved to other nuns and priests but, always with a smile, forced of course. Sœur Sourire known as The Singing Nun / Sister Luc Gabriel. And quite a few of my family members. At 82 years of age I still speak up for them because they were not allowed. I was born in one I will never forget what I saw. Of course the slave drivers were very happy.
@@billgreen1861 I will tell you I had several great aunts as nuns. One lived till 96, one lived till 102, one lived to 104. They lived a very good life. They lived happy lives. yes- when you get further in renovation who knows what you could find or come across. and the convent has a lot of potential too. See you Monday Billy. :D
If it isn’t being done already, maybe someone would write down all the information you are getting about the convent and the nuns. Maybe make a booklet or something similar.
Oh my goodness, as you were walking up the stairs I was getting a "vibe" of whoever is living in the Convent! And I am thousands of kilometers away over the internet😳You are very brave, Billy.
Billy you are a such cinematographic talent. Music, camera angles, the flow of the story, the effort to do all of that in a single day - every day...Well done! Much appreciated an opportunity to embark on your journey with you guys. Treasure hunting is always exciting, isn't it? Ghost stories as well. I can't think of something material they could have left behind that was of any value. In general, who and why would be leaving behind anything of value? OK, you are a nun, you are not into material world, but church could use it, many poor people as well, other monasteries and orders withing church could have use it also. Just leaving it behind...Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? I wouldn't think so. Let's say they did. It have to be the place and the manner they could do it themselves, without help from outside. So, nothing to demanding or heavy to execute.
Fun watching you hunt for the treasures. I am glad you go by your feelings and did not go further. Are your tools being moved around like they were when you first started fixing things? Take care and thanks again for your vloging!
I'm holding my breath when you are asking if there's anyone there! Hope no-one replies. But I can't see why they would want you to go- you are restoring their convent back to it's former glory. In fact, it will be better. You'd think they would be grateful.
That was fun. Thanks for searching. If there’s something hidden, that’s great, and if you find nothing then what harm came from looking? Plus…. it sure made for a fun video. Thanks Billy.
I have to admit, after watching Ryan surprise Billy the other day on @lifeofryan, I was thinking something very similar.. wait until april 1 though, lol. 🧡
Under a stair tread. If they had hidden something, it would have been easy access to them, hidden in plain sight or hidden in a place considered holy and sacred, and not to be disturbed by anyone with common decency.
Another cinematic beauty about well, not much. 😅 I think the treasure is the building and Chapel and mostly the care the nuns gave to so many and the example they gave in living simply so others may simply live ❤
ATTENTION BILLY! I have noticed that the counters and cabinets from the Bank which you bought for a Bar has numbers appearing to be taped to them so they can be reconstructed. If it is tape I worry about the tape possibly causing damage to the finish if left on there for to long. Perhaps the numbers could be taped inside the cabinets so as not to mire the finish. Billy your doing a wonderful job and I enjoy your videos immensely. Love you and your family and God bless you all!
I would choose to believe that the spirit is of an old nun with a bit of a mischievous streak, who gets a smile and a good chuckle out of moving small items and causing you goosebumps. You should give her a name.
The Nuns Have given you the beat treasure Billy, to allow you to renovate the Convenent without any interference by them. They love that you simply love the Convent enough to fix it with your own passion, hard work & money. Anyone else may have let it fall apart. Oh and Billy what about the stairs??
The raised portion of the altar in the chapel might be a hiding place. Bring a metal detector out and search the floors and walls. Would be a lot faster and a lot less destructive than a hammer...
Wish we would get a good rain as we have a lot of forest fires burning here. Very interesting info from your convent neighbours. It remains to be seen if there is buried treasure, good luck Billy🙏❤️
I think if the nuns hid valuables they would be places in a inconspicuous location. A nook or private cabinet, under rocks, behind boards? They knew the convent quite well. I don’t think they would get materials and plaster or construct over it. Just my guess. Intriguing!
I had a good giggle at the knocking a hole in the wall! Rooms and rooms in this building and you walk in one and randomly start whacking a hole in the middle of a wall!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
That’s why I was telling you: Get a metal detector! 😁 You did get one, I remember - and even though it appears to be a comparatively simple one, maybe you can put it to some use. You can also use your metal detector to detect metal behind walls. Penetration may vary - but you can test it my deliberately placing a coin or a gold chain behind a wall, and see if and how your detector picks up on it. Places where I would be searching: • The artwork panels in the chapel - maybe higher up where you would need a ladder to get there. • The empty spaces underneath the stairs • The wooden wall panels in various rooms • The dirt (?) floor of the basement • The inside of any columns and podiums, which may be hollow Good luck! 🍀
Speaking of spirits. Many years ago I lived in the Virginia countryside. The little cottage we had rented had a very sad episode years before: a farmhand had hung himself in the barn behind our house. Our landlords asked us not to repeat the story as "he gets upset" and demonstrates it with water. We forgot all about it until one summer night, friends came for dinner and we told them the story. Next morning, the kitchen faucet was gushing, not merely dripping, there was water on TOP of the dining room table, didn't run over the sides. Water on TOP of the sideboard, didn't run over the sides. My cat was sitting as high up as she could get, my dog was running around, very flustered. Needless to say, the story was not repeated after that. we did go to the barn and expressed our respect for him and how sorry we were. Am sure all is clear now as that night was 40 years ago. Boo!
The first time you get an answer when you ask -any body there? You'll be out so fast without closing the door!!! Well now you'll have something knocking on your brain every time your in there working. You'll question everything, every room where you work. Thanks for sharing. Wish we would get some good rain, need it badly. God bless and protect.
The convent treasure is you and everyone who is bringing it back to life! I think you may need to consider a new permeable courtyard driveway to help with some of the drainage issues. It's spring and there are probably birds and squirrels nesting up there😊
Well, if there is anything to be found, it's unlikely that you'll find it by actively looking. It will most likely make its appearance when you decide to knock through a wall or tear down a relatively new looking partition. Very cool story though 🙂
Why does the past of abandoned convents and monasteries intrigue me so much? So many nuns and monks sought to sanctify themselves by withdrawing from the world to concentrate on serving the Lord Jesus. and maybe getting some of them. However there they are, in those rooms and corridors the testimony of their lives is still alive. Thanks Billy, a young man, thanks for bringing it up.
I would be knocking on every bit of wall, cornice, whatever to see if it was hollow. It sounds like a good job for little ones that are old enough, yet still short enough to get the lower bits.
Billy! Go to primary sources! There may be one of the nuns still living, or one to whom the “secret” was passed. A visit to the motherhouse of the order may be a good idea.
Yup, I definitely heard footsteps at the end when you signed off and again when you asked if anyone was there. Made me laugh when you spoke French and asked if they heard of your RUclips channel 🤣 😂 Crak On!!

yes- when you get further in renovation who knows what you could find or come across. and the convent has a lot of potential too. See you Monday Billy. :D
I'd suggest checking the crypt for the buried valuables.
Bon jour, Billy. If there are valuables hidden I'm sure you will find them when you least expect them 😉. Good luck 🍀.
If it isn’t being done already, maybe someone would write down all the information you are getting about the convent and the nuns. Maybe make a booklet or something similar.
That would be a wonderful thing to put in a time capsule. 🧡
"I'm not afraid of no ghost" - There is no Billy, only Zuul........
Oh my goodness, as you were walking up the stairs I was getting a "vibe" of whoever is living in the Convent! And I am thousands of kilometers away over the internet😳You are very brave, Billy.
If there is one thing I'd be sure of, if I were moving out, I'd take my treasure with me. I certainly wouldn't leave it behind!
Billy I love the opening scene… your getting so good at this…
That was fun. Thanks for searching. If there’s something hidden, that’s great, and if you find nothing then what harm came from looking? Plus…. it sure made for a fun video. Thanks Billy.
Maybe the valued things are hidden on the haunted floor ?
Maybe that’s why they frighten the living lights of everyone ?
If I would want to hide something I would do it within/behind/near the altar. IF there is something hidden, I'm pretty sure you could find it there.
If someone doesn't hide in the upstairs and wait for Billy to come investigate, they are missing a HUGE opportunity!
🤣🤣🤣
I have to admit, after watching Ryan surprise Billy the other day on @lifeofryan, I was thinking something very similar.. wait until april 1 though, lol. 🧡
You might try using a plumbers snake with a camera on the end to peer into crevices of drywall etc.
Under a stair tread. If they had hidden something, it would have been easy access to them, hidden in plain sight or hidden in a place considered holy and sacred, and not to be disturbed by anyone with common decency.
Another cinematic beauty about well, not much. 😅
I think the treasure is the building and Chapel and mostly the care the nuns gave to so many and the example they gave in living simply so others may simply live ❤
You are such an artist with your videos. Thank you.
Beautiful driving rain...miss those storms in Saskatchewan Canada.
Happy Saturday from North Carolina 😊👍!
Intriguing!
It’s so fun treasure hunting with you. Watching you pan around the chapel I could see that the building is the real treasure, the convent itself.
I had a good giggle at the knocking a hole in the wall! Rooms and rooms in this building and you walk in one and randomly start whacking a hole in the middle of a wall!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
That’s why I was telling you: Get a metal detector! 😁
You did get one, I remember - and even though it appears to be a comparatively simple one, maybe you can put it to some use. You can also use your metal detector to detect metal behind walls. Penetration may vary - but you can test it my deliberately placing a coin or a gold chain behind a wall, and see if and how your detector picks up on it.
Places where I would be searching:
• The artwork panels in the chapel - maybe higher up where you would need a ladder to get there.
• The empty spaces underneath the stairs
• The wooden wall panels in various rooms
• The dirt (?) floor of the basement
• The inside of any columns and podiums, which may be hollow
Good luck! 🍀
For search purposes you could use thermal imaging to find voids in the walls!
Interesting idea. Have you checked out the 3D tour of the convent? There is a link, I think. 🧡
vous êtes un magnifique scénariste et réalisateur, j'y ai cru !
Boo!
That little tap at the end was spooky! It is midnight and I am alone!😮
The nuns lived there for years and knew every nook and cranny, inside and out. If they hid something, you will never find it.
I disagree. What can be hidden, can also be found.
Pro tip: Intuition goes a long way. 😏
I weep for the convent. I weep for the nuns. I weep for the souls. I weep for the future.
May God guide us to happiness.
Was it your tears that caused the flooding? Do not weep for the taken they are lost forever on this World, bring joy and fulfilment into your life!?!
The convent treasure is you and everyone who is bringing it back to life! I think you may need to consider a new permeable courtyard driveway to help with some of the drainage issues. It's spring and there are probably birds and squirrels nesting up there😊
Great story, what about the cemetary you mentioned last time? Did you learn where it is?
As nuns take a vow of poverty the idea of valuables seems a bit stretched…but the water intrusion was a tad concerning.
Hello Billy! Love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing.
My 9 year old granddaughter loves to watch the vlogs. Now I have to fear the ads!
At 4:17 when you said "I tell you what this confessional would make a fantastic" I thought you were going to say a ground level toilet 🙂
Great suggestion
What a great story! I hope you find something one day! I wish you would get a paranormal team in there to see who is still there! Very exciting!
It is a great story, but the convent is a treasure of its own.
Watching this a year latter I am amazed at how much you have accomplished in a year.
Yup, I definitely heard footsteps at the end when you signed off and again when you asked if anyone was there. Made me laugh when you spoke French and asked if they heard of your RUclips channel 🤣 😂 Crak On!!
