- Bay Ridge, Brooklyn is a neighborhood once known to be a mafia area. Not as much as other N.Y. places but nonetheless known. Peacock's was a favorite hang out of one time acting Colombo underboss/capo Jerry "Lang" Langella.
LCN-Mafia Spots
I grew up in ozonepark queens and moved to bay ridge about 14 yrs ago because my wife was from there, happy wife happy life ,it’s a great neighborhood still today
Did you ever see the Gottis around Ozone Park?
Thank you for the flash back. I lived in Fort Hamilton (In the Army Base) from 1970-79. The good old days. Thank you!
Bay Ridge is the best neighborhood in Brooklyn. I lived around the corner from Espresso Pizza for about two years on Gelston Avenue.
@Keith Courage RX-78-2 Red Hook is more desirable, so is the Downtown Area. The only reason that has stayed a nice area is due the Active Army installation. If it goes, that place will look like Camden.
Definitely is!
Many memories from that neighborhood
My old neighborhood… lots of memories
Great area! Especially Shore Road+96 st.. Where I live. Love my walks along the water.
Remember Goodfellas Pizza and Mambo's back in the 90s? Still have some great restaurants and amazing people.👍
Yes & I liked Circles grill. Filet for 19.99 id pair it w calamari! ☮
The original name of Pastels was Penthouse. Pastels opened in July of 1983.
Eddie Pace who was the manager of World Gym on Bay Ridge Ave worked there
Worked at Pastels
I remember that coffee shop. Right across from Grand Union. I had a studio apartment in Bay Ridge from 1974 till moving upstate (not Sing Sing) in 1989. Rent in 1974 was $90/month with gas/electric included. Used to be a Steak-N-Brew there around 94th street back in the day. A swell video, brung back memories. Thanks.
Miss the old days.. used to get my hair cut next to harbor view for years till he closed up
pastels was run by ALI SHADES ,,they had a spot upstairs ,the VIP section for wise guys, and people who knew ALI ,,ALI is from BKLYN and is still alive today !!
I worked there. And yes the VIP was the spot, although it was not “upstairs” it was just in the back, and raised about 5 ft higher than the rest of the club! And I remember your tags “Krook” and “SC” all over Brooklyn! True graffiti legend!
Grew up in Park Slope and moved to 96th/3rd before leaving NYC in 2010. The neighborhood still had a good amount of Italians in it unlike Bensonhurst which is predominantly, Asian/Russian now. The Arabs are taking over the Ridge now tho.
Bay Ridge was never “Italian,“ it was heavily Irish, then Dyker Heights was Irish/Italian, and then Bensonhurst was mostly Italian. Then when you got out by the benches it was heavily Jewish.
Bay Ridge also had a lot of Greeks. In Brooklyn almost everyone has a friend/acquaintance with a nickname “The Greek, as in “John the Greek,” or “Steve the Greek”
@@jackiemurphy1524 you're right about the demographics in Bay Ridge.. definitely more Irish then Italian... and don't forget about the Norwegians... but I think many Italians hung out in Bay Ridge.. which would give the illusion that they lived there to outsiders... I myself am Italian and Irish... lived in Brooklyn for the majority of my life and specifically in Bayridge for about 7 years (but hung out in bayridge my whole life - until this day)
The Palestinian Arabs are SAD AND DEPRESSING. I DON’T TRUST THEM THEY REMIND ME OF TERRORIST
I always like that pizzeria off the corner they made the best Sicilians around better than l&b's
Yep Espresso Pizza is my favorite
I was born & raised in Brooklyn. Moved out to Vegas when I was 22. Did you know the owners of Pizza Wagon opened one in the San Fernando Valley in California? I went to a Bar Mitzvah in Pastels. My friend's father was some big shot there.
have you had pizza wagon in sherman oaks? wondering if its good?
@@ninjadarookie I've only had the pizza wagon in Brooklyn. I live in Vegas but a friend from high school lives in California. I saw it on RUclips & posted about it & since he lives there he went & said it was good.
I’ve had the one in LA it’s meh
I used to work in hunters steak house . Wow
I never knew the subway was built in there.
I lived in Brooklyn by the waterfront in 2010. Everybody I met was polite. No smartasses. Musta been my kind face that won them ovah.
also the reasturant john travolta was in,,,having dinner was called fishermans conner
LORDZ OF Bklyn in da bldg.
I miss Brooklyn, i wish i never left.
I went to Pastels a few time's really didn't like it so I mostly hung out in the city. The happiest day of my life was when I left Bklyn. I would NEVER go back.
@Keith Courage RX-78-2 yeah you’re right, so much has changed, it’s ugly now smh
Definitely come visit!
That was then and this is now you did the right thing you can always go back it's called vacation but I like your comment
Thanks for the tour.
No mention of that poor kid who worked in the bagel shop who was killed in 1991?
while you were there you should have went by and pointed out the Cannon in the park on 100 street where Casso met Vic every other day to give him his orders
279th 79th St corner of 79th Street and 3rd Ave was were ai lived 1990s before leaving NYC for good. Great memories.
you really said "he used to wear wrap around sunglasses" 😂
Great tour
I have a feeling the mafia owns the dealerships in bayridge cause theirs so much of them next to each other it doesn’t even make sense.
R there even mobs anymore in Brooklyn the 90s they seemed more open now is hard to tell
@@Funkylover-sl7ew that's for them to know. And the police to find out. Lol.
Was thinking the same thing..
Probably Russians. I hear the language when I walk by. Who knows?
@Keith Courage RX-78-2 i know that i dont meant that tho i mean are there still gangs like italian or russian mobs anymore or na
Like shoe stores if you pay attention there are shoe stores been around for decades never closed still around how much money and who still gets shoes soled or fixed
I ate at that restaurant many times back in 1970. I sometimes worked at the Harbor View car service. I lived on 72nd. And Colonial. Pastels…an acquaintance of mine was part owner.
My old neighborhood. Had many a might in Pastel's. Worked in TJ Bentley's. They owned Hunter's Steakhouse too
TJ Bentleys was a hidden gem. Real speak easy from the mid 80s to early 2000's. Last time I was there was 2009. Since then its closed and became another business. I knew alotta people in there. Dealers, neighborhood people. Always met a fine lady anytime at TJ. And saw a bunch of famous singers you wouldn't expect to be in that small place. Great memories. ✌🏼
@@Real_Mob_LCN_On_Location I believe it became The Remy lounge
@@Coodeville yes it did for a few years.
I grew up on 4th and Douglass st. Park Slope . Does anyone remember Montes restaurant? It’s still there in 2015. Or the Diplomat Lounge on 3rd and Carroll ?
Lived in Carroll Gardens for a long time I remember Monte's
Brooklyn!!!
100 street 3 Ave
Used to live there
From 2007 to 2012
Miss it every day
Anybody know where the old LCN connected Brown Derby lounge was located in Bay Ridge? Thanks for responding.
Yes the Brown Derby was literally 1 block over from “Peacock’s.” It was on 4th avenue, between 93rd and 94th. It closed in ‘90 and became “Turquoise,” which was owned by the Pastel’s people. I worked in Pastels, and when they opened Turquoise… I worked a couple of nights there as well….
@@jackiemurphy1524 Thank you for the reply!
Nice tour. I didn't spend any time there though I did occasionally hand out by 86th Street where Spumoni Gardens is situated. Good area, lots of good people.
That’s not Bay Ridge, that’s way down 86th in Gravesend
In the 60s and 70s are used to hang out in a place called the gallery I am wondering if it’s still there anybody know
Actually it was “ night gallery”…often called “shooting gallery”, for obvious reasons. That of course if we are speaking of the same place.
No… your Gallery was down on 86th in Bensonhurst. The Gallery he’s talking about was on the corner of 91st and 4th. In the 80s it was called Le Balloon.
@@nickdeliso7026 i remember the shooting gallery. it was on the second floor
Hey good video, I'm from Tennessee but I've been to Brooklyn and a mob fan...
I remember Elvis had the Memphis Mafia lol
Nothing better then oldschool brooklyn brooklyn rules great movie freddie prince jr awesime flick about 3 friends growingup in bayridge
Was Hobnails bar on 88th & 3rd (or thereabouts) connected with Cosa Nostra? I recall that being a rumor in the late 70s / early 80s, but I have no
idea if it’s true.
I’m not even from the area, but it’s still sad to me how it’s changed.
Oh by the way I think it was on 92nd and third too long ago to remember exactly then of course there was a crazy country club which Was a fun place
Crazy Country club was on 64st. & 8 ave
We went to the Crazy Country Club , they had microphones in the ladies room and put toilet paper on your table instead of napkins . We had a blast
@@g86jn1 Same when I was there
I met my wife at sweets lol this dudes great
Many good memories Pastels
Bay Ridge looks like a nice place. Except for all the snow. The vid was great. I like too see REAL videos. Not the Hollywood type of stuff packed full of lies. Thanks for making the video and thanks for sharing. ☮️
Bay Ridge is awesome still
@@Real_Mob_LCN_On_Location I would love to visit some day. It looks like a nice place. 👍♥️
@@anthonydittajr505 my city
nice
Is it zoomed in? the screen is shaky and hard to see😖
I also bet? Former Capo regime ? Michael Franzese hung out in that area too back in his day on top of having his few car dealerships on Long Island . Im a native born guy ? From the Bronx. Ohhh ! Can you go into the Bronx? And show some of those old hangouts too?. Thanks
My buddy's sister lived in the shadow of the bridge. There was a social club by the house and just like in the movies the Lincoln's and caddy's were parked wherever they wanted to be parked by their owners this was in early 2000s.
Edit. She also married a guy from Italy that she met and moved over there
Or otherwise known as spumoni gardens
I remember all those places , I grew up in Bay Ridge during the 60s 70s and 80s ,,,,, use to hangout on 94 th and 4th at the carvels where that BMW dealership is now , in the early to mid 70s and even remember when they filmed Saturday Night Fever scenes at Fisherman's Corner and by 92nd street and 4th where there was a White Castle ,,,,,,,, interesting story about that White Castle , this was before they filmed the movie but around 75 I bought a dinner from the KFC on 5th and 92 nd and met my crew in the White Castle, the manager said I couldn't eat my outside food in there and I promptly told him to go fu## himself , but after some argument I went outside and found a chunk of broken sidewalk and threw it right into the big White Castle sign and blew that whole side out , well I couldn't stay around for obvious reasons and it was some time before I could go back there , but everytime I watch Saturday Night Fever and see that scene by White Castle I tell whoever I'm with about that story ,,,,,, ahhhhhh the good old days! Nice video and thanks for sharing it.
Good story be well
You sound like a nice person
👍 😀
"woof, woof, woof, woof"... Great scene.
You must have seen sammy the bull around in those days?
One night I was piss drunk and I ate at that White Castle. Afterwards I was lazy, didn’t wanna walk. Saw a bus at the red light on 5th. Jumped on the back bumper. Was only going to 86st. Turned out the bus was out of service!!! We made every light for a mile… the bus was doing like 35 miles an hour… my hands and forearms were about to give out… thought I was dead…but thank god it finally hit a red light at 65 th street! Walked back and wound up in a sick fist fight outside Skinflint’s on 79th and 5th! Busted some guys head open… Ran from the cops and made it home!!! 1980s Brooklyn baby!
I remember 🎉...miss my spot
Bay ridge is so different from when I was growing up. Where did all the Italians go ?
Loved Bay Ridge
You missed Foul Play Bar Restaurant
What about buddys 2 and jasmines
My sister's boyfriend's bro was a bouncer in Buddies II
I never knew bay ridge was a naffia ground
It’s not. It was more of a Copland. But there was def some people and places. No one cared we all just coexisted….
The bar was realy owned by matty the horses nephew
Wow! Marty's son Jr lived in Carol gardens I believe. Had a blue caddy.
😳😂🤔🤗🤣😆☝️
Grew up in the area. Had family that lived on 93 rd street. I went to Fort Hamilton High school. Great area plus they boys were always good to us kids. Can't say anything bad about the Mob .
That you Jimmy?
Looks like the area changed. See a Turkish Flag in the window at 1:49
Originally the Penthouse
Seriously I can't tell what he's saying... The 1980s what? Or does anybody know? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
cugino means cousin in Italian. In Brooklyn it was CUSHEENS
@@Real_Mob_LCN_On_Location Thanks for clearing that up 🤣 I'll have to throw that out to my "Cusheens" down around New Orleans...I've never heard that before Cusheens- Capisco👍😜 Thank you
@@anthonydittajr505 New Orleans was the first Little Italy in America 1840s before the great migration. People don't know that the Sicilian Mafioso arrived at NORLEANS first.
Dyker Heights is where it all began. Nice video but not factually correct.
Is Mitchell’s drive-in still there I bet you’re in it isn’t it’s probably a KFC you something
@@bobwilliams3502 Mitchells turned into a Nathan's many years ago. Now it has been demolished to make way for a School, in the process of being constructed. Old Sunoco gas station across street has also been torn down.
No, it became a Nathan’s for 40 years and now it’s gonna be a public school for all the illegals streaming over the border
MADIA IS STILL THERE,AND STRONG,JUSTMNOT FLAUNTING IT,😂😂😂😂
Hey Bay Ridge! My home town. Looks more like Palestine everyday. I miss the Italians the Irish and the Norwegians. It used to be a great neighborhood.
Let me come to America and stay at ur house u can show me around ☺️
Lmao 🤣 what the hell is he saying? All you 1980's (what is the word?) Learn something new everyday! 👍😜
No really... I can't make out the word. Does anybody know?
I'm glad I moved out when I did.
