I will definitely be looking for contact info for Professors Michael Frank, Elise Sugarman and Eric Perkins and research student Allison Dods. I like the way they articulate the ideas. Good job.
As Muslims we believe everyone is Muslim as a child so It's like you guys are reading my mind with the interesting stuff you are exploring... just keep in mind that the reason children learn quicker at that age is that in many ways children are smarter than their parents... instead of treating them like idiots and trying to make them think like adults, we need to learn how to properly nourish their open mindedness and intelligence while letting them be themselves. Yeah... Let's teach all our kids about the wonders of narrowminded dogmatic religions. How wonderful if all the worlds children were divided into warring factions of fanatical ignorance adhering to some little desert deity or the other. Wait, even better, let's teach them that they are only really here because some evil sky-god wants a little intertainment, and they are unimportant creatures who should just worship that sky-god... There is a contradiction in your logic. How can a child be Muslim without knowing what a Muslim is? Also, open-mindedness generally allows the scientific method to work. Decapitation generally allows Islam to work in northern Iraq.
***** No contradiction, Muslim simply means one who is in submission to the (one infinite) Creator, this is why the Quran refers to all prophets prior to the prophet Muhammad (starting with the first man Adam) as Muslim. Human beings have something called FITRA which is a natural disposition towards a higher power, truth and justice. Once they hit puberty and are responsible for their free will, then it's up to them to turn to (the one infinite) Creator via the teachings sent down through his prophets (peace be upon all of them). This is all proven by scientific and practical evidence. Look all throughout history and you will never find a civilized atheist civilization anywhere. When human beings become atheists, they will simply fill the gap with something else. Ie. "I claim to know there is no God and Dawkins is his messenger". This is something that should be looked at as unnatural and strange... This also explains why the religion of Abraham dominates the planet and why the Jews, Christians and Muslims are all moving towards a state of Islam (submission to the creator). Whether they choose to do this through prophet Moses, Jesus, Muhammad or all of them is their business but this is something that you can no longer deny. Secondly, the scientific method has nothing to do with spirituality, love, compassion, mercy or the human soul. So don't stick your scientific nose where it doesn't belong and try not to ask incorrect quesitons. And Allah (swt) knows best.
