    I can see dozens of use's for these units, from anything from research stations out in the bush to building sites,,, If the panels are filled with expanding foam that would really boost sales in colder climates, Great product and thanks for posting it.

    I don't know why it took so long to come up with this idea. This is perfect. It's the ideal combination of ease of assembly, portability, price (I'm assuming) and durability.

    It sounds like a great idea for homeless people. Especially families with kids. Find some type of way to insulate it for winter Eventing it for Summers would make it great for them an inexpensive. Get a piece of land and just put some of these on there and when shelters filled up you have place for families to still have something to call home. This is awesome idea if there are any people out there that could help financially to make this come to life again you guys please help because we all have to give a little to help this world be great.

    Lawrence, despite all of the sceptics here, this IS an interesting concept, and one I haven't seen before. I'm reading comments that you have stopped production, and that the company is for sale? This fills the spot in the market between tents and factory-manufactured mobile homes, and CAN be a major presence in storage shed market. I can also see where the Genesis of it came from; you have designed a modular shelter for a trailer, hence the shape of your panels. To produce this, you have designed, or contracted someone to design and manufacture several injection molds? Then later it dawned on you that you can just market it as a stand-alone shelter, not just a modular shelter that fits into a trailer. Lots of people can and are attracted to your shelters, but what happened to your business?
    It appears that you have not consulted with good marketing/business people, and perhaps your manufacturing costs are too high, which drives your retail costs up as well?

    Very interesting, but if there were locking latches like on a hard carry case that lock all the sides parts, I think that would have be better than all those screws that are going to get lost. Very cool concept though.

That's all they're selling is gutted walls. But for that price you can buy a single wide and it would be fully furnished with water and electric. Just not cost effective at all.....

    @ti0039a340 6 лет назад +1

    there are quite a few issues i see on the video. i will not comment all of them but i have 3 that i must point out
    "1 you need wood framing and screws to complete the assembly
    "2 time of assembly
    "3 too light... it will fly away in light winds
    this consept would be better suited as a light size addition to caravan trailers (or temporary winter storage of cars and trailers from the elements or even a temporary painting booth)

    • @tealcorpintl
      @tealcorpintl  6 лет назад +1

      You have made some erroneous conclusions.
      1. No wood framing is required. All screws are supplied and matched to molded-in, threaded inserts.
      2. One person can assemble a 10' x 10' shelter in about an hour.
      3. Yes, it is light. That is why it is called a Quite Lite Shelter. It has tie-down rings to anchor it to the ground, although I have had one for two years that has seen 60+ mph winds without moving, and it was not tied down.
      4. The shelters are designed as stand-alone habitats. If you want a storage shed, there are much more suitable options.

    If you could get Home Depot or Loews in on this people would love these for backyard sheds that are not as ugly as metal ones. Trying to open sheet metal sliding doors on the one my parent's had was a pain in the butt. Would make it much easier to access things as well as keep your yard tools outdoors without rusting.

  • @SunnyIlha

    I'd like this to be my home. I'd have a "honey hut" Porta potty built into it (same plastic construction) good for 80 uses by 40 people, and have the sanitruck come by once a month to vaccum suction it out, and replace the "blue water". An enclosure connected to the potty section would be the shower stall. Cooking and heating would be a standard 300 gallon LPGA natural gas tank. Light would be natural light during daylight hours and fuel oil lanterns at night.
    Electricity would be a service drop to an outdoor rated service box, power supplied by municipal electrical company, with a 50-amp shore power cord to the home's electrical panel. A solar panel arrangement could be alternative.

    • @SunnyIlha
      @SunnyIlha 7 лет назад

      And when you get tired of living in your porta potty dominated home , you could blow out the pilot light on the water heater ,crank it up on high , shut all the doors and windows , wait about 10 minutes and flick your bic and perhaps you wont need a tornado to deliver you to the Land of OZ !!! LOL !!!

    A great idea but hardly cheap or easy to transport. I guess good and cheap don't often mean the same thing? I'd be curious how these shelters would stand up to be left out in the wilderness for years at a time as a lodge to stay in while in the middle of no where, how would they stand up to the weather and animals? It would also help if they came in other colours, green for low impact,Orange for rescue work?

  • @ricklude
    @ricklude 7 лет назад +7

    The two problems I can see right away are: 1. How many times can you screw and unscrew the side assemblies, as this and the smaller shelter are supposed to be reusable, temporary structures? After a few builds and knock downs, the screw holes are going to be stripped out, out of round, off center. -- 2. How long before a tear or hole in the roof happen, as it's only some sort of coated fabric? -- A question I have is will the roofing degrade in long exposure to sunlight? -- With some more brain power expelled and thought given, the roof can be made of the same, screwed together, plastic as are the walls. -- I for one would not purchase these two products.

      If a side panel screw threads get stripped, buy just one new panel to replace it.

      Each panel has an external D-ring for anchoring the panel to a ground stake or platform. There are also optional interior wall to floor brackets for anchoring to a deck or concrete slab. Our shelter has regularly seen 50 to 60 mph winds and is only anchored to a plywood floor sitting free on concrete blocks.

    I bought one of those plastic shed kits from Home Depot. It was 8x8. Similar in assembly . Great for storage but not air tight no insulation was cold as hell in winter. Mine did have a floor as part of kit but I always was afraid one good hurricane was gonna pick it up and send it flying. This shelter makes me feel those old feelings again. I can't see this as more than a quick shed. You couldn't stay warm in this even with a heater. No insulation . And was there a way to get power out to it? Don't think so.

  • @SE09uk
    @SE09uk 7 лет назад +8

    Any shelter from the sun or the cold is lost because of the thin roof
    it needs pockets for foam panels in the roof or a more solid one
    I like things like this and could think of a few places to put one

    • @tealcorpintl
      @tealcorpintl  7 лет назад +6

      Foam panel inserts are an option, although the soft top has a 1 inch thick Dacron liner, much like a sleeping bag. The advantage is that it is also translucent, letting in a lot of soft natural light.

      Oh that's really good
      it's a good time for shelters like this because of low power things like LED lights, phones, tablets and other small devices, solar, wind and hydro power gens
      and the better batteries
      The shelter is very Space 1999 (if your old enough)

    For the price they charge you, you can get a single wide mobile home cheaper. And atleast the mobile home would be fully furnished. :P

      If there is a cyclone and you are in "this thing" you may become an unwilling participant in a modern day scenario not unlike the Wizard of Oz .....I just hope you have your dog with you and that you land on the wicked witch so that the munchkins love you !
