Video brings back awesome memories! Watched the original before going and it was a huge help to know what to expect, and the info about the area (in other videos) made Waitomo was one of my favourite stops! Anyone going to the North island should stop here for a night at least

Glad you enjoyed it! Will you get back there during your next NZ trip?

Glad I watched this video! My soon to be husband and I will be honeymooning in NZ and had plans on doing this tour. Its not what I thought it would be, and I'm not entirely sure its for me.
I have a few questions. I'm not the best swimmer. How deep is the deepest part of the water? Did you HAVE to leave your tube in order to finish the tour? How much time did you actually spend floating in the tube compared to the rock crawling and climbing? Is April a bad time for the water level to be high? And lastly, I'm only 5 feet tall. How difficult will the climb be for us vertically challenged folk? Thanks!

Super happy to help Alicia ;) This is what all our videos are about, showing what the tours are really like ;) Ok to go through your questions: 1 - Just above neck-deep at most I think (ours was at really high water level, so you will probably not see as much water as we did) / 2- Yes the guide told us to and we've got to follow his orders 3- Mostly crawling (probably less than 10min of floating) / 4- Probably moderate level, not as high as our level but not at the lowest either, it is autumn in NZ. / 5- haha I think that the climb is ok for most sizes. Hope this helps. Subscribe to our channel to get notified when we do our weekly live Q&A (it is in 2h) so you can join and ask us all your questions live. It's a lot of fun!

Hi, It is a really nice video to let people know more about Black Abyss! It is really cooooool! May I as what do you think is the difference in the blue light seen in Black Water Drift and Black Abyss?

Thanks for the kind words! The Black Abyss and Black Water Rafting experiences at Waitomo are both amazing adventures.
The main difference in the blue light seen in these two tours lies in the experience itself:
Black Water Rafting (Black Labyrinth): This tour involves floating through the caves on an inner tube. The blue light you see here comes from the glowworms on the cave ceiling. As you drift through the underground river, the glowworms create a starry effect above you, which is a magical and serene experience.
Black Abyss: This is a more adventurous tour that includes abseiling, climbing, and zip-lining through the caves. The blue light in this tour also comes from the glowworms, but because you're moving through the caves in different ways (not just drifting), you get various perspectives and close-up views of the glowworms. The combination of physical activity and glowworm illumination makes for a thrilling and dynamic experience.
