My dad and I played Bobby Bare's "Detroit City" and "500 Miles Away From Home" in one of the several bands we played together in. Neil's song is about the plight of Native Americans in general and specifically about Marlon Brando rejecting his Oscar for "The Godfather". I remember watching it on TV when I was pretty young. Neil Young is my favorite music hero. I play many covers of his. He has been a friend to Native Americans for decades. I lost my wife a couple years ago.
