    Make sure to select your accommodation properly at Athens. Closer to the Acropolis, the better, and I was lucky to be able to experience a weekly local farmers market there back in Oct 2022. It was quite an experience besides the Acropolis. 😅

    Thank you for these videos, you’re very straightforward and helpful. I will travel to Greece in July, and since I’m younger than 25 I can’t buy tickets in advance in order to be granted free admission. I will definitely go to the ticket office of the Acropolis at around 8am, but I won’t be able to reach other places that early, so I was wondering if you know how long the lines can get in ticket offices in other sites such as the Acropolis Museum, the National Archeological Museum or Mychenae in other times of the day. I wouldn’t want to waste too much time just waiting in line 😅 thank you in advance!

But, I would kind of like to use the main entrance and enter through the Propylaia - sort of like I was walking in Athens 2500 years ago. What do you think? Is one entrance better than the other? We will be visiting in July - so I know crowds and heat will be an issue. I was thinking of trying to be there right at opening. Thanks for all your great advice!

After the museum we took subway to acropolis for the 4pm appointment. It was still hot (even for us from Arizona), but less crowded. After that we explored the neighborhood and took the subway back to the port, took a bus close to the cruise terminal and walked the remaining distance. We had a great day in Athens. THANKS to YOU! Other cruise guests visited the acropolis in the morning and the crowd was unbelievable. @@GreeceExplained Thanks for your reply. I’ll go early to line up. My accommodation is near the south entrance. Is that the entrance to take the free ticket?
      Also, are the free tickets only available at the booth, none online?

      I decided to just buy the combo ticket and do the Acropolis the day before the holiday. I will choose late entry to Acropolis as there will be 4 cruise ships that day. Incase I cannot visit the 7 archaeological sites included in the combo ticket on day 1, I can skip the line the next day (free sites day), right? I don’t need to line up for free tickets.

    I got the combo ticket from the official website and chose to go tomorrow at 4 pm. I assume that would be the day and time for the Acropolis. Would I be able to go to another archeological site before the Acropolis? Today or tomorrow morning? Or for the combo ticket I would have to go to the Acropolis first and then the rest of the archeological sites?

      The date you chose is indeed the date & time for your visit of the Acropolis.
      Which means you can validate your ticket for the first time up to 5 days before that date.

    If you enter through the side south slope, do you still ascend up the hill the same way as the main entrance? Like up through the propylea or is there another path/trail up?

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  10 месяцев назад

      Both trails lead to the Propylea, but by entering (or exiting) through the side entrance, you also pass in front of the amphitheater of Dionysus and a few other monuments, which you dont see if you enter & exit through the main entrance.

    hi sebestian, very informative video, coincidently we are reaching Athens on 17th and planned to visit acropolis on 18th may, as u written 18th may is free for all than do we directly enter there or we need any more registration for this and also if we need guided tour than how much do we need to pay.

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  Год назад

      No need for any registration. Just go get your free ticket at the ticket booth, and then enter the site.
      If you want a guided tour, book one which does NOT include the ticket, otherwise you're paying extra for no reason. This is the one I would recommend in this case : bit.ly/3M5G3Gj ("Athens: Acropolis and Parthenon Guided Walking Tour")

    Hi Seb. Last month a visitor cap was instituted at the Acropolis (and not the other sites AFAIK) and when you buy either a single ticket or combo ticket, it will ask you to select a time period for that day. Does that mean that we are now forced to use the combo ticket first for the Acropolis? Our plan is to visit the Kerameikos the before, then the agoras the following day before we go to the Acropolis in the late afternoon to cap our day. We are now confused as to what day and time to chose? If we chose the day and time we want to visit the Acropolis does it mean that we can no longer visit the other sites the day or the times prior? If we chose the day and time for the Kerameikos, will we be able to enter the Acropolis the following day at any time? PLease advise. Thanks.

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  Год назад

      Hi ! Yes I'm going to release a video on this :-)
      The date you chose for the combo ticket is the date (and time) at which you HAVE TO visit the Acropolis. Since the Combo ticket is valid for 5 days, you can start using it as early as 5 days BEFORE the date of the Acropolis. So no worries, no need to change your plans :-)

    • @ronaldsanjose2474
      @ronaldsanjose2474 Год назад

      @@GreeceExplained Thank you Seb. I was worried as when I received the PDF tickets via e-mail, the VALID until date was 5 days from the date that we chose to go to the Acropolis. We chose next Monday, Oct 30 and the "valid until" date was Friday Nov 3rd.
