That's not a great thing to raise children to believe because it's never even remotely true nowadays and they find that out very fast...I sure did, thinking respect was everything and parents deserved it just for being parents...That's just not the truth....The police, the government, school officials, etc, all have far more physical power and social influence over her...If she ever feels too controlled, and realized that truth, you're in for a harsh awakening...I found I could say "no" at 9 years old, didn't give a fuck about being hit, having anything taken away, etc...In fact it made me take out that anger on other people, it took me years longer than it should have to learn that respect is only ever mutual and once you feel you can demand it from anyyyyyyone, I'm not interested...I'm 28 and much better off now in a happy relationship, but my mother trying raise my sister and I "the right way and with respect and class" - Fucked both of us up even in simple ways like creativity...Can't teach kids to search for all of their validation based on their parents beliefs...Maybe if your daughter tells you to shut the fuck up one day, you really are just talking to someone too much when they need a few minutes but they can't express that....Don't be that "MY CHILD WOULD NEVER, I DIDN'T RAISE THEM THAT WAY" parent....
