  • The opening of the river Tay 2024 Salmon fishing season at Meikleour Fishings Boathouse by Kinclaven bridge in Perthshire, Scotland on Monday 15th January 2024. This Opening Ceremony is a traditional event much enjoyed by anglers and non anglers alike and the guest of honour, helping to bless the river and performing the first symbolic cast of the year, was actor and comedian Paul Whitehouse.
The event is organised and hosted by Meikleour Estate on behalf of the Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board and The Perthshire Chamber of Commerce. Joining Paul Whitehouse for the ceremony and blessing of the river was the Provost of Perth & District, Xander McDade. Also taking part were Perth & District Pipe Band, led by Drum Major Kenny Forbes and Pipe major Pipe Major Alistair Duthie, seen here playing at the beginning. The weather was freezing and made it hard for the band to play.

Lovely-we need someone like Paul Whitehouse to head up a campaign to kick the bejaysus out of the EA/Natural Resources Wales etc, and get the government to see sense re seals and 'fish ducks'-and stocking.
