- A Full motion Flight Sim + TrackIR4 Pro head tracking on a F16 Virtual cockpit. It really rocks you. Feels like topgun!!
Some info on game: Its FS2004 !!!! F16 plane was made by Kirk Olsson. His releases are available from www.Avsim.com or www.Simviation.com . A nice F-16 Viper, made even better by the HUD upgrade (search for USVIPER.zip and VIPERDEN.zip on these sites)

thats honestly one of the most incredibly awesome things i have ever seen
My wife is happy that I stay home and have this great hobby, instead of lurking around the bars for beer all day! :-)
Why? I heard this music more than 1000 times so far, while replying messages, and still love it!!! ♫♪♫♫♪♫ ♥♥♥
thx for the update, your work is inspiring
I just wanted to come here and say Thank you a lot.
Looking back 5 years when I first watched this video , you inspired me and I started studying mechatronics though I had just finished another engineering Bachelor degree.
I'm starting to build one, and it feels great. Thank you mate :)
Happy to be inspiration for you! Thank you for you kind words. I moved to greater things since then. Now with my 6DOF platforms I'm using 1.5HP AC motors and Servomotors, even Moog linear actuators in some cases.
2015 will be the year of interfacing to the real world (real time telemetry to drones with motion/video/audio feedback...!!!)

+Thanos. Thank you very much for your kind words. I have joined the forum as you suggested.
I have started a thread about my project here is the link

I would really appreciate your feedback.
Best regards
Simply brilliant! You my friend have engineering skills!
i didn't even notice it looked where you look until you mentioned the hat. wow man that's an amazing setup
all you need now is a Jet-Chair (like the ones in military jets etc), a G-suit and one of those awesome helmets!. I bet that has to feel really realistic, nicely done!
nice job i got my whole family over to look at this awesomeness
holy sweet jesus, you sir are my new hero... i want one
I'm feeling motion sick just watching this:). Cool stuff.
That looks like cool stuff! :)
Absolutley superrrrrr! What an amazing piece of work! I am very impressed. Now i want one! XD
QUALITY!
Wow! VERY COOL! Awesome!
Great video.
excellent job...
Greetings from Turkiye!
great job very well done,it's amazing!
Great stuffff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow really nice job man
dudeeeeeee that is awesome man! i'd love to do that
This is the most epic of all
Thanks for your comment. Its entirely made by myself at home with almost no special tools (except a electric jigsaw and an electric drill). All its parts are from local hardware stores and they are readily available...
EPIC!!!!!!
YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!
5 star ...very nice and useful invention..
Dude, that is awesome. How did you build it and how much did it cost? Also it sounds kind of noisy and out of sync with the game, but still very awesome!
Best song ever! :D I love Top Gun!
Nice dude, thanks for the links.
Hahaha! Nice one!!! Made my day!!! Thanks bro!!
holy shit man ! This is some awesome stuff, thank you so much for letting us download your website. I'm probally going to build one with my granddad. Anyway I got 1 question. Does the joystick has to mounted in the middle of the frame ? Or can I place the Stick and Throttle control on the side of the frames like in a F16 ? Thanks in advance
very nice!!!!
thats awesome, i need 1
Sweet. Thanks a lot!
Simply awesome, Now I want to build one, I just need the money and some space in my room XD
Wow, that's rock ^^!
very cool!!
Oh... What fun!
Awesome! I want one =P
what program are u using to conrtol the motors?????????
and what interface are u using to conet the morots to your computer????
Thats AWESOME!! =D
Well, prior of installing the bucket seat, was really like you were "sitting" in the danger zone! LOL! And it was cool tune after all!
That's Open Falcon modern air sim..., with it's impressive realism for both the reflection of the real F-16 avionics and flight model, as well for the cockpit view using TrackIR!
you should make those seat belts, that would look great! :D nice cockpit and nice vid!!! :P
I fixed sqeeking sounds in the latest videos... They came from the pulley mounting on the motors and some from the PVC pipes.
that is sooooooo cool i wish i have one like that
Part of me wishes I had not seen this. I"m already trying to figure out if it's even possible to fit that in my apartment... this is bad. And yet, it's so SO good!
Does it move with the joystick or does it move by you rocking and swayin it? plz w/b
Its 19'' and thank you!!! Two years ago it was still expensive ti get 22'' or 24'' inch monitors!!!!
Yes, I haven't mounted the joystick on this early video.
Look for my new video called "Full Motion Sim on F16, Buzzing the Acropolis"
I like that buddy...
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
to build something like this but be able to roll 360 degree and full loops....how much more would that cost? and is it possible with a similar setup as this one?
πολυ ωραιο φιλε μου!!!!!!!!!
I never hit my head while riding it so far, but to be sure and to make it more safe, I moved the side motor mount to the front as you can see on my other new videos... And yes a good HOTAS is required on this cockpit.
No, I did not!! And if you see the latest videos I have moved the side motor mount (that is near to my head in this video) to the front side that is safe and clears the space around the seat.
Thanos
THAT FUCKIN ROCKS!!! I joke about having a flight sim motion seat like that in my basebent ( my manhole ) but you did it. Kudos to you.
What's your problem?
I just found this soundtrack appropriate for this video since I fly an F16 in it... In the latest videos I driving racing cars, didin't put on them the Days of Thunder soundtrack... LOL
amazing
TrackIR FTW!
I have this MS sidewinder ff2 since 2001!! And still works like a charm! Didn't found anything as accurate in the force feedback as this joystick so far! You can still find it on Ebay!
what if you want to do a loop? or go inverted?
wich addon is this f16? it looks good!
Its because its my first video with it... After a lots of calibration I took a new video called "Full Motion Sim on F16, Buzzing the Acropolis"
Hey, thanks for the tip! ;-)
I would prefer electric linear actuators too but their cost was equal to the overall cost to built it as it is now. Its the cheapest way I could find without sacrifice its motion capabilities. The motors I use to move it in the video are simple 12v car wiper motors!!!
Ha HA your machine looks ace dude!!!
Doubt eyefinity was around in 2007 but this rig would love a couple extra screens to widen your field of view. Amazing work by the way. You could charge people to use it.
you got skillz
holy crap man!
Yes, I know. I mount it on the left side on my last video (its now added as video response to this video...!)
What did you use to power it?
that is great for landings
Yes it is!!
No, its just FS2004, but the new motion interface software I'm using now allows also the use of FSX!! :-)
The game data are captured from the game using special software that also does some math with them and then send this data on the serial port (its called x-sim2 motion control).
The hardware interface consists of a "basic stamp2" microcontroller board, two HB-25 DC motor bidirectional speed controllers, and two potentiometer fitted on the frames for position feedback and finally two motors, one for each axis.
Hey! Follow the link to my page for more details and free plans!!!! :-)
Thanos
Really really nice man. I wish I had something like this :)
You should get a set of cheapish video goggles and keep your TrackIR setup. Would be even more immersive!
very very good but that screens a bit small. look a bit stiff when your inside it
and how do you get in it
AHhhhhhh i get crazy!!!!! soo coool
Yes, take a look on my latest videos! :-)
This video here, is one of the earlier ones.
Δες εδω: motionsim.blogspot.com/
Do you offer plans or advice on this bad boy?
AND, approximately, how much invested (only in the device)?
Around 800euro (without monitor, PC and joystick controls).
But this is the old model, I have posted new videos with fixed respoce time and battery upgrade for powering it.
Cheers, Thanos
its a sidestick controller on an f-16, frackin great stuff
Nice job man, you make that ya self? never seen anything like it, i know a guy who has a headset and when he turns his head, the pilots in game head turns, i was amazed lol
i like the fact that ir rolls and stuff
but i sat that when u mone ur head around the cam in the game moves with ur head... but whats the point if that when theres only one screen so if u look left the game cam looks to the left but in real life u to the wall...how das that work out for u?
o thx- i looked, and its soooo awesome... some day my friend, some day..
None. Besides, I moved the side pulley mount to the front. (if you ever get in the trouble to check my newest videos!)
HEHE, big LOL:)), couldn't realise from that distance,^^, great move for you mate... It looks exactly like the real Falcon simulator!:D
Great video as well as flying in that newview sim of yours:D
Keep it up!;)
No its FS2004 !!!! Made by Kirk Olsson His releases are available from Avsim com or Simviation com . A nice F-16 Viper, made even better by the HUD upgrade (search for USVIPER.zip and VIPERDEN.zip on these sites)
I'm not sure, but I think the roll is backwards... The lean should feel like rotation in a given direction, so it would have to lean opposite the roll to give the sensation of spinning on your axis...?
Not much hard to build. Look on the description of this video for a link to my site! ;-)
Thanos
Very nice!
All you needed was some voice comms going for "total immersion!"
Cool set up!
You should invest in a good HOTAS setup next see you're using a Sidewinder 2 still!
Also I'm worried about your head near that wall and jagged metal corner!
I want it! Would something like this work with an older flight sim, like mcfs2?
How much did this thing cost to build?
If your cockpit panel is light enough, why not?
where did you get that??
how much did it all cost to build?
If you read the rest of the comments, I mention that the movement is based on acceleration effects and its does not strictly follows the horizon!!
CLEVER!
What other flight simulator games do you play with that thing? Have you ever played Hornet 3.0 and Hornet Korea?
