    Sorry if this isn’t the proper channel to ask you this, I don’t know if there is a way to PM people on RUclips lol
    But I was wondering if you would ever consider doing any tutorials on small scale stuff like epic or preferably 10mm? There are seemingly zero resources on modeling/sculpting in those scales. Just like do’s and don’ts, good practice’s, and workflow stuff. I don’t know why it’s so intimidating to me but it is lol 😅
    Thanks! 🙏 love your videos! You and have single-handedly taught me everything I know and I truly appreciate you for that!! Best resources on the internet in my opinion. ❤

      No problem with contacting me like this or finding me somewhere like Instagram.
      That's a good idea for a video 👍🏻 I think it would be pretty interesting. The only issue with it is that most of my experience with 6-10mm modelling is based around things like Titanicus which is pretty much huge robots on a small scale so most of the concepts are the dame as for 28mm. The other reason I imagine many shy away from this topic is that it will hugely depend on the printer and resin in today's 3D printing world. I will happily print something under 0.5mm with my printer (Saturn 3 Ultra) but with other printers they may not be able to cope with it... and that makes generic advice tricky. So it is understandable that people avoid it. But I can think of sw generic advice so perhaps that could be worth a video.... I'll have a think of what could be worth including 👍🏻

      @@ArtisansofVaul oooh yea good point 🤔 I guess I’ve been spoiled with printers that can print at .3 without issues so that never really occurred to me.
      And yea the lil infantry boots on the ground dudes for scifi and fantasy are the part that I’m hesitant about. Vehicles and mechs are more in my wheelhouse so moving over to infantry, especially at small scale is very intimidating.
      And yea that would be awesome! Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏
      Like even just a workflow of making a lil dude would be life changing lol

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  5 месяцев назад +1

      @emmamarx9284 I don't think I've ever made that many infantry. Last time I did was years ago for epic. My main advice would just be to exaggerate things more than you think you need to.

      @@ArtisansofVaul ok, yea! Now that I’m looking at some of the forest dragon models the weapons are about the same size as the entire person and everything is thiccc. I have some lazy forger files I bought a while back that I’ll have to look at too. I think my main problem is that fear of trying something new tbh, it’s absolutely paralyzing lol
      Thank you so much for your help!

    Awesome review! Thanks! Regarding the battery... is it possible to stop the screen while scanning (to save battery?) and, in case of willing to have a backup battery, what's the cost? Thanks! :D

    • @Headaron
      @Headaron 3 месяца назад

      Nope, the screen is basically the only way you can see to scan. As for a backup battery, if you're near a wall outlet I was use that for power and a wall adapter. If you're not and needing more of "free-range" type setup. I would suggest a good power bank that can quick charge, and Revopoint has a kit on their site as well (www.revopoint3d.com/products/power-bank-kit).

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  3 месяца назад

      The battery is integrated so you can't swap it. But recently I was at an event scanning people and I was using this off and on for a pretty long time. Also you need the screen to see as you're scanning. But honestly the battery was really impressive. And you can always have it plugged in while you scan for a bit. But I was scanning off and ok with a short charge over lunch for maybe 6 hours.

    Would detail of scans be improved if you illuminated the object being scanned with a separate infra-red light source?

    • @ArtisansofVaul

      Hmm... That's an interesting question. I assume not as it probably calculates off knowing what is being output but I really don't know. Great question 👍🏻👌🏼

    Can you scan a room with it? Or is it still just a toy for scanning small things?

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  28 дней назад

      @SKYLIMI I think "toy" is an odd sentiment. Just because something has a different function than what you're looking for doesn't make it a toy. Likewise if a scanner for a room couldn't scan a 30mm tall model perfectly I don't think that would make that a toy 🤷
      To answer your question you could probably scan a room with it but I wouldn't recommend it. As it needs features (or markers) to keep track of its movements flat walls would be an issue unless you want to stick lots of markers on them. Scanning something like an ornate fireplace it would be great at but a while room would likely be more trouble than it's worth. For that you'd need something at a might higher price point to be effective.

    • @SKYLIMI
      @SKYLIMI 28 дней назад

      @@ArtisansofVaul Maybe I crossed the line of joking, but I'm a little irritated that no one is trying to make a device more adapted to scanning a room at a price accessible to everyone and not at the price of a car.

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  28 дней назад +1

      @SKYLIMI Haha. All good, it's always hard to tell tone over message. I can understand the frustration, for scanning rooms it must take a HUGE amount of memory for all the data and quite a hefty amount of processing power. You could if you really needed to with this (I've scanned my sofa and that isn't a small sofa). If you really want to try it you'd be better off with the RANGE2 (link to the scanner and video below) as it has a wider frame for each shot but you would still need a lot of markers for the flat sections. And I think you'd be best doing a wall at a time. It wouldn't be the fastest process but I think it would be possible if you needed to on a budget below the crazy priced machines. I've seen people having scanned a single person plane with one so I think it would be the best scanner under £1k to try it with.

      @@ArtisansofVaul Einstar had a software update, haven't tried that yet, but the issue was insane hardware requirements with the old version, I have a 13gen i7, 32gb ram and rtx3080 and that older version software was still losing reference a lot, can't pick it back up correctly after a loss, if the lighting changes you have recalibrate, else it will struggle scanning at all, just overall poor user experience
      my impression was that it was rushed to the market, hardware seems ok, but software is just really poorly optimized hence it struggles even on a near high end pc
      not to mention that Miraco is a full solution, you don't have to lug around high end laptop or a pc to scan something with Einstar having that cable that goes back to pc...

      @ArtisansofVaul  4 месяца назад +1

      @@kevinknox378 So you will never get a scan straight off that captures everything, they are designed for parts larger than 10mm so things like arms and heads are under that so those tiny details are hard to pick up. So you might be expecting too much if thats what you want. But they make a good base for then adding details to. My main tip is to put the model on top of something with clear features to help the scanner track the rotation of the model if its on a turntable.

      There's no option on the Miraco to merge scans as one object unfortunately. Only in revoscan desktop software. Also I keep getting "lost tracking" when I pause and flip an object.
