      I think Lamelo still has time to succeed and make it to the level Lonzo was during his UCLA debut. It's not looking too good as far as Gelo's debut and getting drafted since he only has about a year left to improve and achieve the standard Lonzo has set for them.

    Here's the thing, it's not he can't play d, it's just that chino hills does not need to play d most of the time.(chino hills with gelo) And it don't matter if he only a 3 star player, another famous three star player who went to UCLA and eventually the NBA was Russell Westbrook. Also many bandwagoner favorite steph curry was also a 3 star player.

      defense is a combination of physical tools, basketball IQ and motor. he clearly lacks the size to guard wings and bigs and the athleticism to guard guards. he hasn't shown any defensive iq or motor in chino hills. so i honestly don't know how you're trying to defend him.
      also sure there are overlooked 3 star recruits. but there is also spud webb who made it to the nba at 5'7", does that mean every 5'7" basketball player has a decent chance of making it to the nba, NO. it's called the law of large numbers. can it happen? sure. is it likely to happen? fuck no.

  • @smilyle
    @smilyle 7 лет назад +66

    He had a knee injury his senior year which was part of why he looked slow and out of shape. He can really play. He averaged over 30 ppg his senior year. And they only had 3 losses That is very impressive. How many other guys in the nation have those type of numbers on a Nationally ranked team. He is the best pure scorer going into the college ranks out of high school.

    • @vince3139
      @vince3139 7 лет назад +1

      define "pure scorer" because he clearly ain't one. the majority of his points come from cherry picking and ill advised threes and some post ups here and there. he can't size up anybody because he's not fast enough, his handles are suspect. his post ups only work in high school because he's gonna run into bigger guys and he has short arms which makes his shots highly blockable.
      i'd be surprised if he averages more than 5 points in UCLA considering the fact that he might not even get any playing time.

    • @smilyle
      @smilyle 7 лет назад +6

      The kid was a starter on a team that lost 3 games out of about 65 in 2 years. They won the national championship his Junior year and they beat top ranked teams. You might not like the style of play, but it was effective...it worked. Period. If he didn't get hurt last year, they would have probably gone undefeated again. If he looked slow last year it was because he was injured. He doesn't have elite quickness, but he isn't slow, and whatever he lacks in quickness he makes up for in strength and body control. He has great size and strength, and for someone his size, he can get up off the ground very well, and he's still growing as he is only 18 years old. He's athletic enough. And he shoots lights out. Period. He makes open shots. Taking quick shots was part of their system...but the kids makes open shots and he can finish around the rim really well. I bet you his defense is better than people think as well. He's a prototypical 3 and D small forward in the NBA. There aren't any guys coming out of high school this year that had a better high school career or that really scored more than he did or won more games. He will make the NBA .

    Couldn't agree more with this video. With hard work LiAngelo could easily be the best ball brother, especially because he is going to get drafted late by a good team and probably will effect that good team and win a few championships. I think you have great potential here as a basketball channel. You need to sound more confident when you make your points. Use the advantage of editing. Listen to yourself before you upload. If there are any points where you sound unconfident, have to correct yourself, or are hesitant, you should edit the clip or redo that portion again. I think as you do more of these videos, you will become more polished and have a successful channel.

    • @erikwood9710
      @erikwood9710 7 лет назад +1

      That's a horrible comparison. First off, he is not a forward or center. 2nd, we will never be able to rebound like Love or drive like Davis. He is more like a Klay Thompson, spot up shooter type of player.

  • @krysala
    @krysala 7 лет назад

    It's amazing how Lavar Ball has crafted this stupendous myth that all his boys have he same play style and play the same way and thus can play at the same position.
    Lonzo is a natural point guard, this is true. He shoots when he's open, but passes first as he should. A point guard's job is to run the offense. LaMelo though is a bonafide shooting guard. If he learned how to isolate off the dribble, he'd be outright deadly.
    LiAngelo has the build, the size, and the natural play style to be a forward, a Power Forward specifically. He's already creeping on 6'6 and might even reach 6'8 before he's done growing. Solid rebounding, crazy fluid in the paint, and half-decent post defense with potential to get better.
    I say LiAngelo comes off the bench his Freshman year at UCLA as they transition him to his new position. His Sophomore year , LiAngelo comes out swinging as the hype comes from comparing him to Gordan Hayward and T. J. Leaf (the Pacers latest draft steal). Then time tells whether he'll stick around to form the core of a new UCLA dynasty or break for the pro's as the media creates a firestorm on who will be drafted higher LiAngelo or LaMelo. Again, only time will tell.

  • @ballinboxer3676
    @ballinboxer3676 7 лет назад +5

    He'll go to the NBA but won't be as successful as his brothers. Probably going to be a spot up specialist for a few years with a few different teams then go to a foreign league or work for the family business.
