Allocution de Son Excellence Keir Starmer, Premier Ministre et Premier Lord du Trésor du Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d’Irlande du Nord, à l'occasion du débat général de la 79e session de l'Assemblée générale (New York, 24-28 et 30 septembre 2024).
Thème proposé pour le débat général de la 79e session : « Ne laisser personne de côté : agir ensemble pour la paix, le développement durable et la dignité humaine des générations présentes et futures ».
Le débat général annuel est l'occasion pour les chefs d'État et de gouvernement de se réunir au Siège de l'Organisation afin de débattre de questions d'ordre mondial.

India, Iran, Turkey, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, should be members of the so-called « security council » but also Germany and Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and Indonesia and North Korea (one of the world’s biggest armies) …
Should such a undemocratic « security » council even exist in light of how it has been used by the neo imperialist US neocon regime abusively for 75 years with manifest cases of pressuring through bullying, bribery and blackmail (sometimes known as « lobbying »)?
The « security council » set up in the post WWII period was based on former imperial powers and nations newly endowed with atomic capabilities such as France.
75 disastrous years later, this structure is a dysfunctional, discredited and ineffectual anachronism in desperate need of reform and reconfiguration so that the UN Charter may be rendered more meaningfully decisive, powerful and effective.
The rapid consolidation of a BRICS+100 block of nations reflects the need to reflect a multipolar new world order and a more consensual, cooperative and constructive approach to conflict resolution and commercial relations and international development.
