don't be an idiot, never set off an alarm, excepting four scenarios: 1. You're a tech and you're tasked with testing the system 2. You're a building administrator doing a fire drill 3. You're a hobbyist with a setup at home (in this case, don't do it outside of your own home then unless the other scenarios apply!) 4. There's a fire
Also if anyone is a fire alarm inspector and your just testing the fire alarm system bio means you can do it then. or if your a fire alarm enthusiast that collects fire alarms and you have you own notification devices, pull stations, smoke detectors etcetera bio you can do it all you want but bottom line just dont pull fire alarms in public buildings. Overall awesome video.
The fact that it scares ppl isn’t really the reason it is illegal. It wastes the time of the emergency responders, as they could get a call for something else that is actually serious. That is why it is illegal for the most part. It really pisses me off when people think it is funny. Especially when people peer pressure someone to do it and also do it to impress girls. I have been peer pressured countless times to pull the fire alarm myself. The best thing I can say is to just not engage with those ppl at all, and if you like setting off fire alarms, make a demonstration system at home and have fun setting it off without anyone saying anything to you, because it is YOUR system. If you really wanna do it in an actual building, do well in school and become a fire alarm technician
I sometimes help with fire alarm inspections and my favorite time is when it’s time to pull the alarm. We test our devices first then do the alarms and it’s so fun to pull it in an occupied building especially when we don’t tell people and not get in trouble it’s like a rebel
I bet. Hope to become an inspector myself, maybe even right after high school. Although I would like not just to test the systems, but also install and maintain them
I once pulled the fire alarm when I was 9 years old. 3 fire trucks came, and i pulled it right as school got out so kids had to stay after school. Many kids and parents were pissed about it. Fire department threatened my parents with a near $5,000 fine stating how serious and expensive it is. I used to enjoy pranks and causing trouble but the fire alarm was when i realized i went way too far. I never ever touched another alarm again.
One time I heard the fire alarm sound from a distance because a kid pulled the fire alarm at a nearby elementary school from my house. Multiple Fire Trucks, An Ambulance, and the Cops showed up to the school. This happened the first 15 minutes when classes are in session at the elementary school nearby. Kids had to wait on the really cold morning outside until they can go back in.
There was one time when I was in second grade and two eighth graders were arguing about how you pull the fire alarm, if it straight down or down and out, and one of them actually accidentally pulled it when he meant to just show how it goes. But it was after school, so I did not have to go to the playground evacuation spot. Also, several times when my sister was in elementary school at the same school. One kid a younger sibling, around 1-2 years old, and he, as a curious toddler, pulled the fire alarm, and this happened multiple times, so much to the point that he was denied admission to the preschool of this school. So, also don’t pull the fire alarm because you might get denied admission to a school or college you really want to go to
Never do it unless for the following reasons. 1. You are a Fire Alarm Inspector testing the system. 2. You have your own Fire Alarm System. 3. There is a real fire. If none of those are the case, then just don't pull the Fire Alarm.
I agree on this fire alarms are there for a reason there their to let you know that the building is on fire and you need to get out now. Fire alarms are not toys and are not for making jokes or pranks. When the fire alarm goes off we have to take it very seriously. Don’t pull the fire alarm unless there is a real fire or if you have permission to do it during a fire drill or if it’s your own fire alarm or if you are testing the fire alarm otherwise don’t pull the fire alarm. STI stopper covers are installed on fire alarm pull stations to prevent someone from pulling the fire alarm when their is no fire because those covers have a very loud siren to know that a fire alarm is about be pulled. You can also go to jail for doing stuff like this.
In 2013, there was an incident at Miller Jordan Middle School where three students pulled a false fire alarm during lunch period and faced a state jail felony.
No good the same thing happened to me when I was in elementary school a couple of times a dumb kid has pulled the fire alarm and they got into a lot of trouble
That A Very Bad Thing To Don’t Pull It Unless There A Real Fire No Matter What. If Your Angry Mad Upset Sad. You Can Get Into A Lot Of Hot Water For That. Also It’s Scares People Causes Them To Panic. And It Makes The Fire Department Show Up And Make Them Waste Time If There Was Another Emergency. Don’t Pull Them Don’t Tamper With Them Don’t Take A Key And Open Up The Pull Station To Set It Off. Don’t Press The Buttons. And Don’t Spray The Smoke Detectors. So Don’t Pull It Unless There’s A Real Fire. Or Unless You Have Permission. It’s Not A Joke Or A Prank. It’s Dumb And Dangers. Also Pulling A Fire Alarm At Schools Is Much Worse Then Pulling Them At Stores Restaurant Church’s Hotels And Other Places.
Also never tamper with Fire Alarm equipment, so NEVER even let your body or any part of the alarm body make any contact with each other, do not even touch the notification appliance either on the wall or ceiling, don’t bang on it, don’t push or pull on it because it could fall off. Don’t pull the plate off, don’t unscrew the grill, don’t strip, cut, or pull out any of the running wires of the system, don’t lower, raise or even extend the tone of the candela, don’t cut power to the the alarm meaning the Strobe or the Horn, don’t, especially don’t even touch the Strobe lens, or beat on them because it could crack or leave damage marks on them, don’t remove any screws, from the alarm. Bottom line is LEAVE THE ALARM ALONE, and don’t change anything about it, LEAVE IT THE WAY IT IS!
@@exoticcar5482 touching a notification appliance isn’t really tampering. It is tampering only if you remove it from the wall without permission, try to take it apart, and basically, if you try to do anything that would affect how it works. However, if you touch it people may think you are trying to do something sketchy so that is why I wouldn’t do it

I was also surprised at the time too just because I was in the fourth grade when that happened and I had been at that school since kindergarten and so I had been there for 5 years and that never happened once and I just didn’t even know what was going on either
It happened to me in the past 3 different times at 2 of my different schools when someone had pulled the fire alarm, first time it happened in my Lutheran elementary school a preschooler pulled the fire alarm and Idk why even though I still understand that they were still a little kid and sometimes you can’t really blame a preschooler for a prank you know, but yes that was still very wrong indeed but they might have just not understood being as how old they were at the time, but the fire dpt still came and they still got a big fine anyway
Stopper covers should be mandatory on all fire alarm pull stations so we don’t have this bad thing happening a false fire alarm due to somebody pulling the fire alarm without a fire.
If you have your own fire alarm system at home like I have in your control environment then you can pull the fire alarm down whenever you want but only for your alarms at home and you’re controlled environment, but in a public building like at a school or other public buildings fire alarms are not something to be messed with so only pull them down if there’s a real fire emergency or if you’re lucky somehow you get permission from the authorities to do a test of the fire alarm system or for fire drill that’s fine if you pull down for a fire drill or a fire alarm test. But pulling down a fire alarm for fun as a prank or a joke that’s not funny and you will get into trouble so don’t do it!
I may feel how the fire alarm works but never pull it. I would only pull the alarm when I smell fire. Fire alarms need signs saying pull for fires, not pranks.
Well it's not a crime if you see a fire and if you pull the fire alarm if there's a fire then it's not a crime but if you pull it for a prank and that's a crime
