Great job but you really should be punished for stacking a lineup like that. Guy wins the NCAA, is an AO quarter finalist, US Open Semi Finalist. Plays #5 on his team. Do they have have a Novak, Rafa, Fed, Murray playing 1-4?
It’s not stacking at all. They were the national champions and his game was obviously not anywhere close to where it is now. I believe that he has worked extremely hard and improved a ton.
not my fav, but I do like it's over first, then the singles decide the outcome...though they shoukd let all the singles matches finish no matter the team score
It used to be that every match counted for 1 point, and they used to let all matches finish, but NCAA people changed it ...maybe they are trying to speed up the matches but it doesn't make a lot of sense. Now you also have to play let points of the serve.....
You see I don't see how? Has he competed in the US Open? The French Open? Wimbledon? I mean I guess that is my big issue there. I mean if he is really that good then go into one of the big tournaments.
If anyone’s wondering about the format and rules. It’s just to speed up the matches and make it easier to watch for spectators and non tennis players. Not sure why juco and D3 don’t play the same rules. Like student athletes got school too. Don’t got time to play 5 hour matches when you got hw 😂
You can think of D1 tennis as like a triple A in Baseball ....D1 tennis has the best former junior players from all over the world and more. There are 3 players from UCLA that played in the same team and are all top 100 McDonald, Giron, Cressy. Joe Salisbury #1 doubles at one point played at Memphis. If you look at the challenger tour also, it is loaded with former college players.
I really want to play d1 tennis at the highest level, I'm an upcoming junior and far from the level required. I'll come back to this 2 years from now and see how far I made it
Depends on the conference. Ivy league didn't compete in any sports this year (2020 -2021) so they would get an extra year. My senior year was cut short in 2020 unfortunately but I was given 1 more year of eligibility to play for spring 2021.
@@LucasHornung yeah and they just won SEC. I wasn't sure how they would do without Bicknell but man they actually look stronger than last year. I mean they got Duarte at #3 (who was #1 last year in the lineup). The depth is insane.
@@pants1359 American tennis is just not popular....we don't have many kids that will start from a very young age, which is kind of what you need for this game. That or parents/family that own a club lol.
Well, in D1 the player with the highest UTR is a 14.56. Novak Djokovic, who has the highest UTR in the world rn is a 16.23. So there is a significant difference in the level between college and pro. IMO, the biggest thing that separates college from pro is bigger serves, way more consistent, give less short balls and take advantage of the ones they get given, and mental and physical endurance.
a good handful of the best d1 college players are winning rounds in 15k or 25k futures. Some even play challengers level. Only a few players make it out to become successful professionals (say top 100) in the long run (like isner, steve johnson, koepfer, norrie)
It is so weird how American college tennis has its own micro culture dependent from the rest of the sport. Never seen anything like it. Do the women scream like this too?
it’s not weird at all. college sports in general in the US always have that school spirit culture which makes the games exciting and engaging for everyone. e.g. March Madness, football
Totally wrong method though. There should be 3 to 4 singles and 2 doubles matches. All matches should have the same number of points. Laver cup or prince of tennis did this right
@@michaelhawk3155 ridiculous - there are many great sports to get into, not least tennis. Limiting yourself to that one, which, although the most popular, isn't even the best by a long stretch, is silly.

Ben Shelton was playing #5 singles ....LOL ....this guy is heading for the top 10 in the world.
I never liked how the doubles count for one point.
In D3 and JUCO each doubles match counts towards the final score. Not sure why it's different for D1 and D2
Well I do not mind the point system, but I do agree, it is much more valuable and rigorous.
not my fav, but I do like it's over first, then the singles decide the outcome...though they shoukd let all the singles matches finish no matter the team score
Blame the coaches. Most of these college rules are put, because of the coaches.

Yes. Once a team match is decided it’s not unusual for the rest of the matches not to finish.
