Wow! I identified myself with Raul Julia... Well, he's so talented... But some people said that I'm not good enough for what I want because of the way my 'English' sounds... Now I see him and he inspire me... God bless his soul...
My knowledge of raul julia for a long time was simply him as weird characters like Gomez from the Adams Family movies. I actually saw him in "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" a la MST3K and just got into learning more about this actor trapped in a hellish movie. From everything that I have found I am so impressed, what a great talent and what a tragic loss at such a young age. Raul Julia rocks, what a brilliant actor and performer!
I saw him on stage several times, on Broadway & at the Delacorte, and he was always terrific. My favorite was when he replaced Frank Langella in the title role in Dracula. Wow!
I understand the race was considered close, but I honestly don't know HOW Raul Julia could have lost this Tony to Ben Harney....the role of Curtis Taylor isn't exactly an exciting role and seeing him on the bootleg and also hearing him on the recording, he may do A LOT with the role but Guido Contini is such an emotional and more intense role....it is one of the great injustices in Tony history for me.
I forgot Ben Harney the second the curtain came down. Raul Julia was blatantly robbed but the Tonys, like most show business awards, screw Latinos. Constantly.
Further evidence, were it needed, that awards are totally subjective, often political, usually wrong and have very little to do with recognising TALENT!
I have the movie soundtrack with Daniel Day Lewis. "Nine" so found out it was an musical from 1982 like the same year as Cats. I knew cats was a musical but Nine was another story.🎭
Rude that the interviewer asked Raul about the incident with Paramount turning down film rights because they didn’t think he was strong enough. 5 minutes isn’t long for interview so other subjects could have been brought up.
I agree it was rude. So some chump at a film company didn't know talent - so what, happens all the time! Raul Julia's immense talent lives on through his amazing work on film.
what's the name of that song??!?!?! They've gotten the album on spotify now, and I CAN'T FIND IT!! :( And do anyone know if it is possible to get the whole musical with Raul anywhere on the internet??? I love you Rrauuul
Don't you just love Mr. Julia's accent? ^_^
I wish he were still with us. Would love to see the work he would be doing now if he hadn't died so young. RIP Raul
I miss raul julia big actor.. R.I.P

RithmArts English doesn’t matter, it’s all about heart, ambition and talent
Don’t care about what other people say. People want to see other people in good condition but not better than they’re. Keep moving forward 👍✌️👏🙌👊💪🤗🎉

Was it the same when Antonio Banderas lost to Harvey for hairspray?
He reminds me a lot of Javier Bardem, facially...another amazing actor taken away from us far too early.
Rampage Clover Um... Javier Bardem is still with us.
The second sentence refers to Raúl Juliá.
Humorous interview.
sexy raul!!
lol. I was born in 1981...one year before this was recorded....how eerry...but I love his accent. Best movie was Kiss of the Spider woman.
Hermoso !!!!!
@uncompromising34
Because they do pale in comparison... and I agree that he was very handsome. :D
Raul ♡
*-* RAUL AND I WERE VERY INTIMATE FRIENDS. HE KNEW HOW TO TREAT A GIRL LIKE A LADY. AND FOR THAT , HE WON AN OSCAR IN MY HEART !!
I have the movie soundtrack with Daniel Day Lewis. "Nine" so found out it was an musical from 1982 like the same year as Cats. I knew cats was a musical but Nine was another story.🎭

he should of been nominated because of street fighter "To me it was a tuesday"
I think that's The Grand Canal? There's a recording of it somewhere here.
The perfect man. The best Guido Contini and the ONLY Gomez Addams

There are some wild haircuts taking place here.

Because it was the 80's
Was lucky enough to see him in it. The movie is awful by comparison.

why the hell is he wearing sunglasses..
They're not sunglasses, they are prescribed glasses with tint.
He's fucking Raul Julia... he can do whatever he want
I remember those tinted glasses.
Hermoso !!!!!
