Murthal - a big village located near Sonepat, is at a distance of 48 kms from Delhi. It is highly famous for its dhabas & parathas. The dhabas appear on the left as you travel from Delhi towards Punjab, and a lot of these are more than 60 years old! There are clusters of them, around 50, but a few stand out amongst the rest: Amrik Sukhdev, Gulshan Dhaba, Haveli, Pahalwan Dhaba, Jhilmil Dhaba and the newest addition - Garam Dharam Dhaba! But these are not your usual dhabas, a lot of these are AC restaurants with a full fledged menu, but are mostly famous for their Tandoori Parathas served with white butter. People from Delhi and surrounding areas throng these dhabas during weekends or whenever they are in the mood for a long drive!
Besides its parathas, these Murthal dhabas are also famous for their chole bhature, poori aloo, dal tadka, lassi, chai, jalebi & more!
So, if you love parathas & are in for a long drive with your buddies, you know where to head!

I live in Delhi NCR and we usually go to murthal for outings . I have been almost to all the dhabas and undoubtedly Pahalwan dhaba is one of the best in terms of food , ambience, service and overall everything.

I would suggest BADA RAO DHABA on Jaipur road. It comes on right side when going to Jaipur, near Manesar. Great food, cheap prices, clean and quick service. It is famous for good food.

Great info about murthal.. never knew about that.. bht baar ruke hai raste me.. paranthe bhi khaye hai or dal makhni bhi .. murthal has been a favorite stop to get some great tasting food jhilmil has been one of the top spots always..
also try mix prantha.. mixture of aloo, gobi, pyaz and paneer...
and you are invited anytime you come to Canada for food..
and when i come next time to India would see if i can take you guys to food tour Ludhiana

I wonder why people even go to places like Murtal. Even Gurgaon has better food than that. If you want to go to some fresh place, try Patiala aur Ludhiana. The Delhi food is too less and too experimental to be called proper North Indian or Punjabi food. It's a misnomer that Punjab only has good Punjabi cuisine. The best South Indian food along with Mughlai and normal North Indian food is also the best there. Try famous highway dhabas that cook with desi ghee. The dhabas/hotel of Kurukshetra, Pipili and Murthal were horrible. Rewari and Bilaspur ones are still OK.
They just go when they are in the mood for a long drive or are on a night out mostly :D
We agree with your points except for this one - Delhi food is too less to be called proper North Indian food! We have everything here!! Maybe you haven't explored enough

you should have genuinely tried parathas at mannat on the way from chandigarh to delhi before entering murthal/crossing the toll. The parathas are pretty much the same as everywhere but what makes them different from the other places is the garlic chutney they serve along with it. if you ever plan to do one of these more parathas videos that should be on 1 in the list.
