I just wish there was a POV of the judges when Mitch suddenly gets the solo part. That moment alone is just fucking incredible. To this day, I still think that Pentatonix are masters of silence, and the more they put out the more obvious it gets. Filling the entirety of your a-capella song with background on just 5 people requires MASSIVE talent, but being able to turn that entire wall of sound to complete, unwavering silence is just fucking witchcraft.
I remember watching this and knew when Mitch came out and hit that note that they were going to win. It was so good. Still going strong and it's 10 years later. I hope I can say the same in the future
Yes, agree. It's boggling to me that the judges never mentioned it, not here, and not in the ET performance where he also did it. They just... ignored it? Don't get it. Unless they did mention it on the day(s) but it didn't make the broadcast edit? Dunno, but it's weird.
Its 2023 And I've been a fan for about 5 years. I finally went back to see The sing off... All their performances. No words. this song is electric. They were so fully formed even then. Wow!
It was so fun to watch as it happened. Pentatonix was a complete game changer in this season of the Sing Off and I knew from the first moment they were going to win.
I saw somewhere a few years back where Shawn and PTX were reunited onstage (maybe it was onstage, it was on tv for sure) somewhere (not singing together) and he still acts like a proud Papa whenever he is near them.
I love how Ben used to say part of what makes PTX great is how they include surprise in their performance, and you could tell how he loved the surprise when they did I Need Your Love and it ended with showcasing Avi's voice.
I vividly remember watching all of their performances live when this show was on. It is crazy how much Scott in particular has improved over the years. They were incredible back then, but Scott in particular has gained so much vocal control and range over the years.
I just looked at the songs the judges gave to the other groups - the definitely gave the heavy hitter and the hardest and most complicated one to sing to PTX and I think PTX killed it more than the other groups did. The next hardest was to Urban Method (who came in 3rd) and the bass and percussion on that one were no where near as hard as Dog Days Are Over's.
Every member of this group is pure class and I can rave about them forever. But Mitch? Mitch is just so precioud and you get this feeling he's so fragile one moment and so strong the next. His voice cuts deep and he can evoke any and every emotion by song alone. We all know where these guys are now, but what about another 10, 20 or 30 years. What musical gifts will they keep on giving us?
He a wasn't ready for the type of schedule they had to do in their first 5 years. He is close with his family and needs to be with them more often than not. Missing a few years holidays for work is one thing, but he didn't want to do that for the rest of his young years. So yeah, it is what is.
PENYATONIX WAS ONLY THE GREATEST WHEN ARI WAS ON THERE THERE JUST GOOD NOW. IF THEY HAD GIVEN HIM MORE MIC TIME WITH HID AWSOME BEAUTIFUL VOICE HES STILL BE THERE

The Mitch slap never gets old. Babytonix was my favorite during the Sing-off and they still deliver 11 years later.
Watching this again in 2022 and still gives me the chills. Damn.
you are not alone
I can't believe we got to watch greatness before the rest of the world did
same bro
Same - this is my favourite ever Pentatonix song

Avi pulling out that digeradoo sound is epic
Those sounds he was making are called Overtones, and yeah. It sounds Epic.

Still can't believe no one mentioned Avi's overtones in the beginning of the set!!! Of course Mitch put all.else.out of our.minds., Sooooo brilliant!
Same, I've never understood why they almost never mentioned his overtones all throughout the competition...
@@SolennBreizh Lack of knowledge on extended vocal techniques, I'm guessing.
And did you see how happy Avi looked while the jury praised Mitch? Almost like a proud dad, hahaha ❤
And then he left 😢

I'm really curious to know what these judges think about the work PTX has put out since they won The Sing Off.
Oh their goddess...
I was just thinking that

@@lunabelletheinsane I LOVE this! Thank you!
@@danmccarthy4700 watch the I Need Your Love and Christmas Medley Pentatonix did in The Sing Off. They looked so proud
Mitch looks like a little boy he is soo adorable and his voice is life

Absolutely agreed.
Had to come hunt this performance down again after seeing Guardians 3 the other day
Same here
“I think Pentatonix could be competitive in the music world.” Ya think? 🤭
3 Grammys and multiple nominations later, I think she was right lol. I’m watching again in 2024
DAYUM! PTX pretty much slammed the door shut on everyone else with this single performance.
Yup. It was game over after that.
I think that even today Scott should get great praise.
Agree 100%, his voice is the most versatile and the things he can do with that range are nutsy-cuckoo
THE CHORD THEY HIT ON RUN AFTER THE MITCH MOMENT™️
YES
So overlooked!
Sounds almost like a train whistle / horn... Maybe that was the idea?
Full body Mitch bumps every single time 🥰🥰🥰
I still get chills everytime I come back and rewatch this, it's just so good and packs a punch every time 😍
I’m watching for the first time in 2023 because of “mitchslapped”
My original mitchslap was Hallelujah
Mitch really shines in this song
can't stop watching this
3:15 beautiful!!
See where they're at now? Several years later and just a fantastic group.
This was their best performance in my opinion. Amazing.
definitely this and Marvin Gayes rendition are my top 2

Thank you so much for this full video. I am new to PTX so this is new to me. This made me cry, so proud of them

Such a thoroughly epic performance.
If I’m in any of the other groups I’m thinking “we’re all just competing for 2nd place” from the very first week.
Loved this show. I was so upset when it got canceled
I love them all but Mitch's voice is just stunning.
Awww! Avi!!!
Hot damn Mitch!!
I keep coming back to his so I can feel
First Mitch slap.
Loved this performance
This is why they are the best!
Was it just me or did everybody else know after this song who won this competition? I was sold. Who’s fighting for second?
Avi cried after this as he FINALLY got recognised here for his talent
The original Mitch slap!❤️❤️❤️
October 2024 and it still has the same effect ❤❤❤Mitch OMG !!!
mitch u r beauty
We've all seen videos with the "Mitch Slap". This was the first one.
3:56 JESUS SCOTT IS GOING IN god damn
Avi does his overtones.
For fun, google Dartmouth Aires 9th performance. Those guys were pretty good, and not in the same league. It’s just wild
son unos genios, soy su fan
This was when I fell in love with ptx 😊
“I want to do this for the rest of my life, and I want to do it with them.”
O RLLY
He didn't know how crazy it would get...
this just hurts :(
If his mom's cancer hadn't returned he would still be with them
@@camillep3631I don’t think so. I don’t really think he was happy with the music they were choosing to do since his music is 180 degrees the opposite.
2024. This is still with me.
I’m waiting for the moment avi wants to come back
He will never... And I don't want him to!
@@SolennBreizh I have to agree I love Avi but I also don't think he'll come maybe on as a special idk I also want to keep Matt

2024 ❤
Superfruit!
2024 anyone?
Me! 😂 This never gets old.
I’m. 2024Nov. Japan!!
Better than original .
Avi so reminds me of Denny from the Mamas and Papas.
AVIIIIIII !!!!!!!
#swag
7:32 that didn't age well at all lmao [Avi left the group 6 years later to do a solo career]
He got to live out his dream and make new dreams to chase. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm not sure why you find that so funny. What never ages well is snark and mean-spiritedness.
I think PTX was just a step stone for him.
His mom's cancer had returned and he couldn't be away so long as they usually were, put family first
avi kaplan is so sad do not be a sad am love you be ok for now
Mavi❤
Here are after guardians of the galaxy 3
PENYATONIX WAS ONLY THE GREATEST WHEN ARI WAS ON THERE THERE JUST GOOD NOW. IF THEY HAD GIVEN HIM MORE MIC TIME WITH HID AWSOME BEAUTIFUL VOICE HES STILL BE THERE
