I'm going to check that out. The Garmin auto pilot integrates very well with the G-5's. I've flown behind them quite a bit. I put the GI-275 in my last airplane, but it wasn't worth the cost of keeping the databases up to date.
I've owned 7 airplanes. The RV is my favorite (by far). Nothing beats the view and economy. The downside is the lack of room (and only 2 seats). I don't think you'd be disappointed, but get a GOOD pre buy no matter what. I looked at 7 of these and only found 2 I would own.
Not bad choices for avionics. I have an o-320 RV-6 with AF3500 and a Garmin 430w that I love. They are fantastic planes as you mentioned, efficient for cross country and if you get bored you can do some gentleman's aerobatics on the way! Have fun!
That is a lot of aircraft for the buck, no doubt about it! Would love to own one. Now it’s going to be that much better with the modern glass & autopilot in there. Beautiful shots! Looks pretty sporty, too. 😎 Thanks for sharing, John. 👍👍
Great question. I did those on my 182. They are nice units, but they are a lot more expensive. Not just the initial purchase price, but they have navigation databases that need to be updated constantly. It is not cheap. The G-5's work great and don't cost thousands of dollars more to update navigation data that you will never use (with the iPad and the GPS unit already giving you that information).
I love my G5's and Garmin stack. I kind of demo some of it in my latest video.

More and more I keep hearing positive things about RV's and the ownership. Thanks for sharing.
They are wonderful airplanes as long as they were assembled properly.
I just started looking at these for my first plane purchase. Very intriguing.

How much is this running you to get done? Also who? I’m trying to get a 355 in mine now. Been a headache.
About 28K. Plans are already changing…looking at a G3X now.
Ummm.... Where's your tachometer?
It’s there. Upper left corner. It’s small.

I ended up with a G3X setup. Got kind of crazy. I should have an update in a couple weeks.
Very cool, I look forward to the update

180kts at 2200 rpm? Wow!
I think I was at 2,400RPM and I had a 30 knot tailwind.😄
FP or CS? That thing rips!
I usually get on my FP 160-180 MPH TAS
Indicated usually 150-160mph

That's fun. I have an RV-8A and love it.
Wish I could afford both! RV-8's are amazing.
What about 275’s

Where were you flying?
Oops no patience 😀
@@inquisitive980 Ha! Southern Wisconsin.
I have an RV 14 different varient and an RV 10 though be it in the sim and great to see an update Thanks hope all is well. PS Loran was amazing lol
I thought you won the lottery! I'm thinking about building a RV-14. I would keep the RV-6A until it was done. Not sure if the wife will go for it!
@@quinnjim hmmmm happy Wife Happy Life so think about your plans.
GNC355 is in my rv-6 too good choice I think!
I had one in my 182. A really amazing piece of technology. Very slick how I can alter the route on my iPad, then bluetooth it to the panel.
I was told by my avionics guy today not to do the 355.
@@RaceMentallyNot sure why he’d say that. It’s an incredible unit.
@@quinnjim so you think get it? I am needing to add another comm to my RV6A and after some research I saw that and figured do the 355
