After crushing him in about thirty seconds, he realized that playing against a 7 year old is not even the same league as playing against the super-hard AI mode.
Miss this game! I remember the first time my combo got so high there were question marks instead of numbers. The pokemon version on Gameboy was also awesome!

I was real happy to hear the Puzzle League history lesson because, to be honest, I was just hoping you'd throw Pokemon Puzzle League a reference. =P And honestly, I think it'd be neat if they had a new Puzzle League game, and I think it'd be hilarious if they made one based on the anime of Pokemon again using stuff from all 5 regions. Example: They have all Ash's traveling companions, Ash has 5 different outfits, each with it's own team of 3, all the rivals, new, smart Team Rocket, etc. etc.
Every single game with a 2 Player VS mode needs to have a Handicap mode. Either Smash or this game, you could play against your brother and still have a blast. Got too much garbage? The opponent has too easy. You can't keep up? Lower the difficulty.
Do you know puyo puyo(aka puyo pop in america)? If you like tetris attack, I'm pretty sure you will like puyo puyo. It is also a puzzle game and is quite cute and addictive
what I find sorta ironic about the name of this game, is that the word "Tetris" comes from "Tetra" meaning "four", and yet it's a match-3 game.... (and if you didn't notice, all tetris pieces consist of 4 blocks) but yeah I get the squeezing money out of people by branding it that way
I'd be interested to hear your opinion on "Valkyria Chronicles" for the PS3. Look it up if you've never heard of it, it's one of the greatest games of all time. I remember renting pokemon puzzle league from blockbuster back in the day and playing the hell out of it.
If you like puzzle games similar to Tetris you should check out Doctor Robotnik's Mean Bean machine for the Sega Genesis. You think combos in this game are insane? You could pull off combos that cleared your entire screen in that, and oh my gosh the fight against robotnik on hard.

My sister and I had this game growing up, but it wasn't until recently when she (and her small family) was staying at our house for a short while that we really grew to love this game. Heck, if she comes over anytime soon, I'll gladly pull this game out again. We're not exactly "pros", the longest combo either of us have produced is I think a 5x, and that was sort of a 1-time deal on my end. Still, even if you don't have a lot of nostalgia for this game, *get it* because I can't recall having another local multi-player experience quite like it. Now I just gotta sort through my hard drive to find any and all video I recorded of us playing, so if you'll excuse me...

I never really played Tetris Attack but i did own Pokemon Puzzle League. Playing with friends who are as good as oneself really makes for some intense battles. I loved that game soo much... untill i played S-HARD MODE!!! DAMN YOU MEWTWO *Shakes fist violently* Still love it tho...
I LOVED this game so damn much in fact even as a kid i was a professional at it- but nowadays i lack the controller and console copy that i used to have v.v... but my god it was amazing :D

I hate what the localization team did to this game. Not only did prevent awesome original IP from coming to the west in favor of characters we've already seen before, but giving the Tetris name to a non-Tetris game has created severe legal issues that prevent this game from ever being rereleased
