My Saturday just got that much better!!! Clear prop!
I'm so glad this 401 is seeing life once more... next the people at the airport will see it fly and most likely cry because they literally watched that poor bird rotting away and here comes this guy looks at it and goes.... I wanna fix it ... I hope to see this thing fly.... keep it up y'all ❤❤
We wouldn't be able to do it without you guys. Thank you for keeping the faith
@@rebuildrescue I would love to come out and photograph it on the day it’s revealed! Been a long time viewer of the show and even bought a tag! I’ve also been a plane spotter for 13 years and take great pride in my photography! Cheers from Colorado!
One day it will fly like a bird🎉 greetings from Norway .
We appreciate all the support Roberto
I’ve been following the 401 project since day one, as somebody who went to school to learn to be an a and P and got certified in it, this project, the engine, especially which I’ve personally overhauled, only advice I wanna give you is righty tighty lefty loose and 6 to 8 twist per inch on your wire!
Don’t also forget…. Torque, measure, check and paint mark as a visual reference. Back in my race car days after my crew forgot to torque a wheel we adopted a number of checks and balances.
Peace and Love to the Rebuild Team 🔧
Peace and Love to Everyone here!
Happy Saturday Folks ! 🙂
If you remember as kids we all had Saturday morning cartoons? We got so excited for animaniacs and power rangers. Well now as an adult I get excited for my rebuild rescue episode! Keep doing awesome things!
Thank you for being apart of the Rescue Crew and making us apart of your weekend!!
The cartoons were better 🤪
I feel the same! I look forward to sitting down with my morning coffee and watch what the Rescue Crew is up to this week 😊
@@coldsamon erano migliori i cartoni da piccoli ma da grandi questo è un bel programma
Glad to see this 401 work again, definitely your most important project…..
Yea!!!! A new video and progress on the C401.
Thank you for watching!!
Jayson YOU ROCK 🎉 Coffee ☕ and Rebuild Rescue on Saturday what more can you ask for....Side note the new APIA Pete is a keeper he's one hell of a mechanic.
Love the fact that you are working on the 401 again.
Well OK if you’re gonna tape a picture of the directions on the side of the plane, it might just turn out! Good thinking. A man who is willing to read the directions! 😂❤️😎🏴
It’s like the biggest puzzle EVER
The exhaust AD is important because behind that firewall is a fuel line that goes over to the other wing crossfeed/shutoff valve and if compromised (burnt thru) there’s no way to shut off the fuel feed from the main tip fuel tank during a leak (fire).
Inspect every 50 hrs.
100%👍🏼
Any update on the Greg situation? Really happy to see the progress on the 401 and the other rescue's
He’s been working on a few things with some help from a number of folks here. Hoping to see a resolution and maybe even some positive change. Stay tuned.
You know, when you put things on loosely to be tightened at a later time, sometimes not all points are addressed and tightened. Be very careful.
Good point. We actually use torque seal paint markings on every connection and nut/bolt after it’s properly torqued. It makes for an accurate inspection assuring us everything is properly tightened now and moving forward.
Coffee, a cigar, and watching the 401 come together...... bliss
YES! a 401 video! And it's looking awesome!
Finally some positive results ,too much time wasted to get to this point
Great job guys. It’s coming along.
After having watched every episode on the channel, a thought occurred to me. I really wonder, once the 401 makes its first flight, how much of the refurb bill from start to finish will have been spent solely on rivets, screws, bolts, washers and nuts? Anyone keeping track of that?
We’re keeping track of it all. I kind of added it up the other day and felt a little dizzy afterwards…. lol.
But once this engine compartment and is buttoned up with all brand new houses and fittings…. Screws… nuts…. Bolts….
It’ll be something to admire and we’ll know it’s as good as any 401 will EVER be.
@@rebuildrescue In any case this 401 will be the one which has gotten the most love of them all! 😀
The turbo installation looks fantastic! Looking forward to hearing them come to life!
It's going to be awesome 😎
Always entertaining watching you guys work. It’s moving along nicely now! Thanks!
It was pure hurt doing my turbo on my bmw. This looks worse. My sympathies.
There buried it the engine compartment on those bmws. !
thank you soo much for your amazing videos they always cheer up my saturdays!!
a few steps closer to see the 401 fly🛫
Thank you for joining us !
Wow!! lots of mock-ups and testing. But you all did it! Do not be like me and forget to tighten up all the bolts you said will tighten up later. Mike
We use torque seal paint markings on all connections and tightened fasteners so a final inspection making sure everything is properly tightened. Otherwise I’d keep looking at everything asking myself if everything was tight.
That airplane is going to be almost a brand new airplane it is going to be awesome now I can't wait to see it Fly again
Let’s go!! Can’t wait to watch this episode!!💪
Thank you for stopping by Aaron👍🏻
@@rebuildrescue always! I’m from the UK and every Saturday I can’t wait for the new vids! I watch them with my 8 month old daughter
Nice work plowing through the learning curve! Looks amazing.
Hi guys . Well just remember that any kind of mechanical work on a plane has to be 100 % . There is zero room for any error's. But you seem to have it all looking good . Congrats guys .
Great to see the engines getting closer to firing. Every step puts it closer to flying again! Keep plugging Jason and crew.
The complexity of these machines and their documentation never ceases to amaze me. Keep it up!
I don’t know for sure but I think he removed my comment when I put a bunch of links to cheap planes. 😅
RUclips and links in comments don’t go well together.

@@rebuildrescue oh ok
She's going to be a beautiful bird when she's done.
Couldn't agree more 👍🏻
“Schmock” and “schmoochz” must be aircraft technical language. lol
🤣😂👍🏼
So are lots of other less polite words. At least there are when I'm working on stuff.
@@Harlanb2002 oh the hangar vocabulary can be very colorful at times for sure. 👍🏼
Fantastic work - great progress! 🙂
Pete was a delight, hope he can come back!
He’s an awesome A&P. So professional and a wealth of information !
The fun part God bless
Thank you for posting My favorite show on RUclips sense the first days of the 401
Thank you for being a day one!!
The jealously is setting in 😅 I need some turbos! Co grass guys love seeing your process
You do need some turbos !
We gotta build an LS7 turbod 414
It's finally time for Saturday Awesomeness ✨️ Can't wait to watch! Have a wonderful weekend everyone 🙌🏼
Awesome to hear from you Brother! Thank you for spending your weekends with us 👍🏻
That made my weekend. Love the 401 content. Looking forward to hearing those engines come to life.
We appreciate your constant support. Thank you for being apart of this journey with us!
Well Won't be long now when we see that new paint job ready to hit the sky
Well done guys. Once you got the first one done the second one only took 5 minutes. lol
🤣 The second time is always faster.
Maybe one this 401 is done after taking years the next one will only take months 🤷🏻♂️😁
First time I have seen a second outlet on a turbo compressor housing. I was just getting ready to ask if it was bleed air for cabin pressurization when you showed the blowoff valve. 😂
The 401A isn’t pressurized but if it was that’s where the pressurization would come from like the 421’s and 414’s
By the time the 401 is done it will be better than new. It will also have cost more than buying an equivalent new plane.
It will be better than new for sure. Thinking we’ll have $450k in it. A new one if made today would run around 1.5-2mill I’m sure. 💰
Replacing every fastener with any visible damage or missing cad plating, particularly screws is something you will appreciate when you need to remove it again…
100% and I gotta tell you it looks AMAZING
Very cool for the 401 ! So how much HP will this be adding Approx ?
Not adding anything as it’s the factory setup. However it’ll have a total of 600hp all the way up to the higher flight levels.
I own two Jaguar XJS with 5.3l V12 engines, but the exhaust on this engine is just an unbelievable size 🙂
Love those old jags
Warmest greetings from Krakow, Poland :)
So cool!! Thank you for being apart of the channel
Why is the pressure blow off up on one side and down on the other?
It because of the turbo exhaust outlet being on the outside of the left and right engines. It flips each turbo opposite of each other.
Don't forget to tighten and safety the turbo casing bolts.
And mark them with some torque seal paint so we know it’s all tightened and safetied properly
It's called exhaust tube's not headers
The race car builder/driver in me just can’t help it ! How about exhaust tube headers ? 🤷🏻♂️👍🏼
Awesome, jason and the guy who helped. You're one step closer to completion.
Jason do those exhaust pipes get wrapped or does airflow keep them and bits around them cool?
They don’t get wrapped however parts of the exhaust get heat shields installed along with the turbo.
You have to be able to be able to inspect for cracks in all the exhaust system components. I found a crack in the four way transition below the turbo on a 340 once. That heavy cast item couldn't stand the heat. On the same 340 there was a fuel line, with a corroded flare, at the fuel selector valve (in the wing, outboard of the nacelle.) Not a good idea to have a leak in that spot. One 340 was blown out of the air by that failure and the debris field was used as a training aid for NTSB investigators, after it was relocated at their facility in Arizona. The students were instructed to determine the cause of the crash from the wreckage.
Nice! Are you sure you are not Ryan Humiston's twin?
Lol ! I’ve had a bunch of people ask me. I gotta get ahold of him and have him over to the hangar. That guy is a hoot !
@@rebuildrescue That would be classic.
Free plane is coming together!
Just like looking forward to Saturday Morning Cartoons, it's back! Love it!
I liked this episode of a lot
That exhaust looks pretty amazing
That's a beautiful instalation but a lot of work and a few complications also reconfigureations ,good job 😀 getting closer for sure 🎉
Ahhh finally,, I've managed to scratch my itch! Thank you for the long awaited video :-) amazing progress
That's a huge step forward, excellent!!
Love to see the progress on the 401! Why the reversed image at the end
WTF!??! THE HONING VAPOR BLAST COSTS € 14.543,95 !??! THAT IS AN ABSOLUTE RIP OFF AND ANYBODY NEED TO LEARN WHAT IT NEED TO BUILD SUCH A EASY TO BUILD SUCH A CONSTRUCTION FROM USED MATERIALS BEFORE PAY THAT AMOUNT OF CASH! THE DIY BUILD WITH USED PARTS, LIKE A CAR WIND SHIELD INCL. A STANDART WINDSCREEN WIPER WILL COST FAR UNDER € 50,oo ! The metal for the whole body is welding together with metal parts of an old useless rusty car! The generator for the blast can find in old elevators and similar tools, which will cost round about €300,oo to max. €500,oo ! All parts will costs not more as €800,oo !
Great job Pete! Thank you. I'm a drummer so no help on this project but im Rebuild Rescue from the beginning
The meticulous attention to detail satisfies my OCD for sure!!!
I see a video about the 401, I click.
Thanks guys for putting out another great video. I’ve gotta say the shorts are just not cutting it but understand why you’re doing them.
It's looking good, you are taking the time to do it right. It is going to be one amazing plane.
Another great one...... it's not easy to do it right, but it is worth it! Thanks for showing us how to do things right. And you make it look fun.... we'll at least it looks that way.... lol
Thanks bob
Missed rebuild rescue last Saturday, put some content weekly, I love what you guys do and love the channel.. I wanna see the 401 fly again..but I'm bummed when you don't put out something for my Saturday morning..😢
I'm so glad you're working on the 401 sam would be so happy
I always look forward Saturday morning 😂 It so cool to see some activity being done on our favorite bird. Yippy!! ❤ I think this is huge for the 401. $30,000 exhaust & turbo system! Wow! Good job guys! 😊 Thank you Pete for helping out, we all Appreciate it!
Wow! Now I can see why planes are so expensive - but what an engine. It is looking so good. I can't believe how much different everything looks now. Blessings from the UK guys. Keep up the good work.
Just magnificent to see those turbo's go on . Really getting on with the project now! 🆒😎🤘🏻
Jason are you going to paint 🎨 the blade tips the same red/white/black with sparkly to match should. Or take the old blades if they’re not useful any more make something for a man cave to mount on a wall spinner to. Be neat to mount them like a drum fan spin in reverse really put out some air. or use them find an engine not to fly but be a back yard runner
Cool to watch the progress after such a long time! I know the whole story up to video 1, but I do not understand that you install all the parts in place without a proper pre paint the whole aircraft´s body inside and out !??! So how will it work then !??!
The engines are looking great!
This new AD is a legend, seems like a good guy with great knowledge
I want to join you guys
From India
She is going to sing while in the air.
Progress. Nice!
You need bigger turbos!
Hopefully in a year.
I love this project
.
Love this weeks episode and praise god for the help your getting and I see that it looks like you got married Jason congratulations
Took me ten years to wear her down ! 😁
Hi, Just an observation. As an engineer, I was always taught to instal bolts downwards with nuts underneath. Should the nuts vibrate loose and fall off, the bolts would then possibly stay in place preventing total loss.
We follow however it’s instructed in the factory manual. Sometimes I don’t completely understand why they have bolts going ways they do but while working on a certified aircraft the factory manuals are the final word in pretty much everything.
Happy to see you’re back working in the 401. Keep up the great work.
Great to share what we've been up to! Thank you for stopping by and investing some time with us👍🏻
Great work! Love seeing the 401 coming back together.
Thank you for stopping by👍🏻
As a R & R fan from day 1 but never ever been in a plane. A lot of stuff you do just leaves us saying what is that? Can you do a video on plane controls 1 day, like the little door handle above your head or what is a variable pitch prop & what does it do / how it works. Dumb thing the the viewers who only watch this channel for the story line & are lost on the technical side. Wing spars, how do you get A/C . What does a mag do. How do you turn the runway lights on at night. how does the De-icer work? Just dumb questions. Just go over a plain and how things work & why. Thank you as always.
We’d love to do that. Maybe once the 401 is done we’ll do a complete review video of the entire airplane and all of its systems
I've been wanting to see this episode since it was announced! Heck yeah! Saturday morning with my son just got better!
Absolutely love that you watch with your Son 👍🏼 Happy Saturday Brother…. Thank you for being part of the Rescue Crew
So happy to see this video come across this morning. I know it probably doesn’t seem that way for you, but it seems like yesterday that you first took the cowling off to try and get it started. You’ve come a long way!! Great job.
We've had quite the journey! Thank you for being here since the beginning 👍🏻
It looks amazing! Everything all fresh and new looking. Glad you painted the engine area, it really pops. It will be fantastic to see that thing start and run up. I know it will take a few tries to get it all sorted, but it will get there and I can't wait to see it!
Can’t wait ! Gives me chills when I think about it
Wow - You guys got a big burst in assembly progress. Congratulations ! If Joe says it's ready to fire it up, then I'm getting excited. Great work with the new guy Pete ! Good stuff Jason and attention to details !
Thank you for all the love and support Brother!! It means more than you know 👍🏻
The trouble with a loose install is that it might be hard for you all to remember to tighten _everything_. Be careful!
We use torque seal paint across all final tightening of hoses and nuts/bolts. Assured us that upon final inspection everything is perfect
Finally, an episode on the 401. I watched it. When will it fly?
Asap!
I love to see progress on the 401
Awesome to have you here with us!
Put it on the 2 step!!! 😂
