      Nice! That's a really good goal! My goal is to run a 10K in under 40 minutes in around two months. Just remember not to rush getting faster. Make sure you have some easy jogging days in your training so that your body can recover after your more difficult runs. Good luck!!!

    I discovered your channel back in 2019 and began my running journey at the start of 2020. I kid you not I was only able to run .32 of a mile a little over a quarter of a mile and by then My chest would be hurting that I’d have to stop. Cut to present time I now can run 53 miles a week. I weighed 208 the start of 2020 and I now weight 161 and I have also done weight training. It all starts with baby steps 💪🏽.

    Thanks Nick! I unfortunately learned this the hard way. 2020 was my first XC season, I started out by running 40 miles a week as a freshman in high school at the beginning of the summer. I was able to maintain this for about a month until I developed bad shin splints. I was out of practice for weeks and when I finally got back I was only able to do about 2 miles a day. I feel like my season would have been a lot more successful if I would have known these things in advance. Anyway I plan to use this advice in my upcoming track season and future XC season. Thanks for everything you do nick, you truly inspire the younger generations to work harder and smarter. 👍🙂

    Hey Nick, I was a competitive swimmer and I switched into casual running in college. I have the endurance to run longer distances, but maybe you could make a video about how to listen to your body better as a runner. I struggle to understand when I need to stop working out because I have a stress fracture, or if I’m just sore. I had a stress fracture and fully recovered a couple months ago.

  • @jacobyork7615

    I completely agree. I always thought that consistency is the most important thing in running. Thank you for explaining this so well! Also my goal is to make it to 70 miles a week but I just want to slowly increase my mileage. Hopefully I'll get there in March but I don't want to rush it. Your running videos are super helpful!

    The importance of consistency is what I learned from my failures last year. I started running to improve my swimming and turned out to be pretty good at it last year but wasn’t consistent enough when I finished the year. My goal this year is to run 5 minutes everyday and to run a total of 1200 miles this year to achieve my goal of sub 11 2 mile.

    • @runforrestrun7112
      @runforrestrun7112 3 года назад

      Don't run sub 5 every day that is not good, you need to have days with high mileage, and shorter faster days, like running a progression 7-mile run, and working down on that workout to a sub-five mile

    • @JacobGoroff
      @JacobGoroff 3 года назад

      @@runforrestrun7112 you misunderstood. I said 5 minutes everyday minimum not sub 5 normally. Some days will be long runs, some hill repeats, some interval workouts, some fartleks.

    I'm coming back from a bad case of plantar fasciitis. It was so painful that I saw an orthopedist to make sure it wasn't a stress fracture. In additional to doing the exercises, I've implemented a better strategy for increasing mileage / duration. It's all based on how long after a run it takes for the foot to feel good again. If it feels good within a few hours of the run, I'm OK to add 5 minutes to the same run the following week. I'm around 7 miles for my long run and feeling great. For now, my goal is to run a half marathon this November. I'd like to work back up to another marathon (I've done 2), but that will take longer. Great video!
