If you're approaching Eilean Donan from the East with visitors (and many will) it's worth taking the wee high road, Carr Brae. There is a viewpoint directly North of the castle - ignore it and drive on. It means your guests first see the castle close-up from Dornie bridge - one of the best ta-da moments in castle-spotting. Coral Beach has space for about twenty cars, the approach road is long and narrow and there are locals trying to make a living farming who would be grateful if idiots didn't park in the field entrances.

What month did you visit?
I visited in February! A rather cold month but definitely less touristy. I had all the spots to myself :)
