YOUR FAMILY IS A BUNCH OF TROOPERS DEALING WITH THE WINTER AND YET BUILDING ONWARD TO COMPLETION !!!!! PROUD OF YOU GUYS FOR DEMONSTRATING THE PERSEVERING AMERICAN SPIRIT !!!! NOW .... ALL YOU NEED IS JESUS CHRIST TO WASH YOU OF YOUR SINS AND TO GIVE YOU ETERNAL LIFE BY RECEIVING HIM !!!! : )
If you are using a square Dektite type pipe flash turn it at an angle so it points up the roof. This will help the water flow around the flash and not hang out around the back side as it will when you install it squarely. Especially on lower pitches. If you can find Butyl Tape use that around the inside edge of the flash instead of caulking. Drill 1/8 inch holes where you want to put a screw. Then caulk around the outside edge of the flash to protect the Butyl Tape. Butyl Tape not exposed to the sun will stay water tight basically forever!
josh real man, no need to be professional, all that I see is how much love Josh gives to his family ,Erin is the perfect wife and mother, may God bless your family and your little angel, from Russia all love and respect.
Building a house is like climbing Mount Everest, one step at a time. Perseverance is the key to success! It took me almost 3 years to build the exterior shell of my custom house by myself while working on the weekends.
Suzanne aka WTFarmGirl me and the kids lived in a camper until December 25 wile we waited for our double wide to get delievered. Our pipes froze we would go to my parents every few days to get cleaned up. Was rough but we made it through.
Gr8 team work guys, nice to see u haven't lost your sense of humor. Josh, please b careful with that back of yours, hope it resolves soon for u. Looking forward to the next 1.
I had so much to say about this young couple:)! I decided how can I shorten what I'm trying to say? Well here I go in just a couple of words, LOVE YA!!!
to help keep the rv from freezing, put bales of straw around it, all the way around it, and a layer on the ground before you park it for a while. it worked for me 35 years ago. shhhhhh. good luck,
We are pouring our tubes in March. Hoping to at least dry in before the fall. Hopefully be living in it by next winter. You guys are awesome. Absolutely a great couple.
Love your attitudes. Hard work, laughter and perseverance will see you through a lot. Life's not always sunshine and rainbows. Acknowledge, deal with it and move on.
It must be very difficult and difficult in winter and also snowfall! all activities must be hampered! your wife is a great and independent woman! you are lucky
Sitting here with 5 bulging discs---know what you're going through Josh! Great video and especially enjoyed the intro with the beasties and the fearsome guard dog!
Amazing how a couple can do such things. You guys are by far one of the best RUclips channels that I have seen.. hands down! Being that it’s only you two building your dream house. A couple with goals..Well done. May God continue to bless your family, your home and your land.
I’m catching up on your whole journey guys, kinda working backwards. You and the family are awe inspiring, good hardworking folk. Love your spirit and sense of humour. I’m taking particular pleasure in every bit of comfort you add to the home. So glad l found you 🧡♥️🧡♥️🧡
I lost my wife to cancer 4 years ago. I love the way you guys interact with each other. Not only are you making memories together you are also building a beautiful home together.
Put Strahl Bales in large trash bags around your camper the reason for the trash bags is so they don’t get wet and freeze like a block of ice that way if you have any problems and you’re snowed in and you have to get underneath your camper you can chop through the trash bag and straw bell
Nice try with your excuse girl! Hard work, worst conditions. Take your time, enjoy your farm, let the ice storm pass and take care of you guys! You are amazing! You guys bring me happiness with every video!
You guys are so fun. I'm sure all your loyal fan boys like me will understand the taking care of the family and animals has to take presedence over filming another video. I'll see you all next time. Try to stay warm.
You sir are one lucky guy! Not only do you have a beautiful wife and family, but she's not afraid of hard work and getting her hands dirty. The work both of you do is impeccable and something to be really proud of. I came across your videos by accident when watching another couple building a container house, so this morning I binged watched all of you videos and subscribed. I can't wait until the next comes out.
Just our two cents on hay bails around the camper if you guys are planning another winter in the camper. Our heat ducts ran underneath the camper and we sank our water hydrant under the camper. As we got more snow we piled it on the bails to add insulation. Only pulled out two bails when needed one to fill the fresh water tank off generator, the other to dump the black and grey tanks into septic clean out we plumbed 20 feet from camper. Our lowest temp outside was -10 and the coldest we got was 45 under the camper but we had a 250 gallon propane tank that served us well. Hopefully your videos are behind and your in the A frame already. Love your video's
I just love ya'll!! I am so excited for that 2nd video a week you will be doing. My favorite channel on RUclips by far. Sending prayers and love your way!!
I feel your pain on the back issues and wish you well. I have had 3 back surgeries and have 3 titanium rods and 18 anchors in my back and hip. Recovery was horrendous. At the time I didn't have a choice but to have the surgery. I could hardly walk and could not stand up straight. That was almost 10 years ago. I'm doing much better now. I just want to go back to work but being middle-aged and out of work for more than 10 years it's hard to find anyone willing to give me an opportunity. Stay strong and hope your back heals.
Erin's laugh is so full of mirth & delight definitely makes Josh's life a whole lot better, it's wonderful what two like-minded individuals can accomplish despite those sometimes nagging challenges, temporary setbacks & frigid temperatures.
I get the no whining approach amid hardships, it's admirable in most cases. When your body is injured, it needs time/therapy to recover. You don't want to end up a crooked old man! Find the balance between kicking ass and taking care of yourself. Thanks for sharing!
Great to watch intelligent hard working goal oriented young couple - back when we were younger my husband built (when you could) an off-grid cabin in the Florida Everglades - I learned so much about life in that cabin and that environment. Another great channel to watch is Simple Living Alaska - living the dream.
I lived in Alaska and it's full of tarps, people that are drug addicted or alcoholics. LOTS of problems there, it's where misfits move to. Then there's bears which are elusive but love to bust your trash cans open to consume the dirty diapers. Not many people are homesteaders there. It's modern and usually with a couple major highways even. When 8 cruise ships arrive and process a million ppl per day, they leave lots of cigarettes, ice cream wrappers and debris for the rest of alaskans to pick up and pay to dispose of, oh and the partying that goes on, and wrecks cost tax payers allot to have to race them from the cruise ships to the hospitals. But hey, go see the glaciers as they're nearly melted. Global warming is not a hoax, it's real. Oh and I actually met the couple on Simply Living, nice people when they went to Fred Meyers store to purchase food, supplies and gear. Lots of the Alaskan shows appear to be 'far out' but it's high density as many cities in lower 48. It's just that the Spruce trees are barriers to the next door neighbor. Oh and everyone has at least 5 dogs, so you NEVER sleep from barking and howling. Nice to visit, not so nice to live. lol
Brrr! Just think about Spring being just around the corner and how pretty it'll be! Of how warm and comfortable your new home will be next winter. Careful of your bulging disk. Definitely not an issue to take to a chiropractor! You do not want fragments breaking off and getting caught in the sciatic. Try to take care and stay warm. Thanks for sharing.
Love that he’s just using a 6 inch extension with no bit to drive the screws😂 I do that all the time at work with those 1/4 in screws. Must be an electrician thing.
I feel for you folks. That camper was never built for year round use. I lived in a Shasta in the '90's in Western North Carolina. Crazy cold , windy ... Could never keep heat in it or the water running. One winter was it for me. You folks are making memories. Press on !!!
A tip: if you or anyone else does the roof caps again, smear some silicone dialectic grease(yes the kind that doesn't harden, and what you use on electrical connections to stop corrosion)along the lip and even inside a bit, it not only helps it seal.it keeps it supple for a longtime and helps it deal w/weather changes etc..No, I'm not a roofer (actually like Josh, a sparky ;) but was taught that, and am a materials guru. Know this was a rough time for you, but as you said, take a few mins. to say darn, then do what you can and have too and move on. It's a shame you couldn't have built a shelter around the camper for winter, even a cheapo shelter attached a wood structure..but I know you didn't plan to be in it that long originally, and it happens.
Looking good you guys. Put some hay bales around the underside of your camper. That will protect it from the wind and the elements and keep you cozier inside. No more freezing pipes or insulation damage.
@@rickoncordova1 Water and snow breaks them down. Birds and rats and mice and whatever else that wants to make nests will pick at it. It's easier to insulate it proper and use electrical wraps on copper pipes. Not sure what they do for pvc, but they're probably wrapped with insulation like the water tanks to be efficient and not crack.
U Guys have accomplished so much so fast. Your Videos are fun & educational. Don’t kill yourselves, you are so close. Love your enthusiasm, Will continue to follow your journey. THANK YOU FOR SHARING‼️👍🔨. Vinny 🇺🇸
Erin, Josh has become more confidant in front of the camera...lol...great to see you are both doing a wonderful thing for your family...stay warm...cheers from Australia.
Yalls bloopers kill me 🤣😂🤣 you guys are doing so great! Would love a video on RV/camper living, just yalls opinions and/or suggestions. Especially with kiddos! I can't wait to see when everything is finished!
You guys look so cold 🥶 but I’m sure it’s worth it ......won’t be long and so much snow ❄️ it’s crazy

wow it fun to see how we build differently across our nation

Greetings from Fiji
Respect you guys free soul living
Have you ever thoughts of using straw bales to insulate around the bottom of your caravan. All you have to do is peg them to the ground
Glad the drain slope was ok. Josh, take care of yourself, I know how difficult back problems can be. Best wishes to both of you.
You guys are good!
Thank you for sharing this, keep the great work you guys!!! Hang in there!!!

Flashing on the metal roof works better if set on a 45-degree angle to help the rainwater drain better.
doing great guys it is coming together. proud of both of you.
great team, looking good. Enjoy it all when you are young

At 9000’ in Colorado I feel your pain with my 5th wheel on site. Need to make shirts that say “Freeze Happens”.
