Man, loved this. i think every guitarist is inherently insecure on some level, be it thinking others are better, feeling they're cheating when they can't pick up nuances learning something, feeling they're creatively blocked and can't create something original. to see someone as accomplished as him go through the process, using everything available to him, just as us and be very human in the process is so encouraging. Great series.

John has to be to be the most consistent maestro, top notch player of them all. Back when Mike was still with Mapex drums we had the chance to follow a string of 10 gigs almost in a row and witnessed this precision up close (sometimes soundcheck and/or backstage). It is no wonder why he is soooo good. And people do not give him enough credit for his emotive playing - I totally agree. Listen to the vibrato and melody in under a glass moon. it is not just a juggling trick it is well thought out and executed. Has to be my fav John solo. UAGM.

If I closed my eyes and listened to you play this (once you did nail it), I'd have a difficult time distinguishing it from the man himself...and that's a HUGE achievement on your part. I also hear it when you cover Dime's stuff. Your attention to the little details is what sets you above many guitarist, and most guitar playing RUclipsrs. Mad respect Ola!

Thank you for not being embarrassed to admit that you peek at tabs) I am a person who makes these tablatures and when selecting songs I often encounter the fact that it is generally impossible to hear what is playing there, and there is nowhere to peek) There are now programs for this case , which parses the sound into notes, does not work very well, but as an instrument of last chance it will do just fine)

if you searched "another day isolated guitar" you could've found tabs along with the isolated track from a yt channel named 'realsongbook', I use that channel to learn piano parts of DT songs

Cool solo, Ola! I tried to guess it before I heard the audio by just watching your hands, and was right guessing Another Day 🎯🤘🔥 👏, grab that Ibanez Picasso next time that thing is sick!!!

Great video Ola. We are very lucky now to have RUclips, Tab books, and things like Songster to look up how to figure parts out. I remember trying to learn solos from cassette tapes, the feeling of rage not being able to slow it down to hear it. Its not cheating to use the tools available to you and makes live easier and stress free.

This was great! Also a great throwback to myself 11 years ago practicing this solo and making youtube-cover of it on which you commented on back then :D Your comment "Well done dude" was a very cool thing - thanks!

I agree 100%, I tried learning some of the "easier" DT songs years ago and there was always one little lick or run in JP's solos that I couldn't manage. Older and wiser, you've prompted me to give them a try all these years later!

Great job, not only the notes in time but the expression is also reproduced with presicion. One of my fav JP solos too (along with Scarred, Breaking All Illusions, Sacrificed Sons, and a thousand more). I will definitely use this video to get the solo on my keyboard.

The first solo in The Count Of Tuscany was one of the first full guitar solos I ever learned, and still one of my favorites to this day
Sure his shred is good, but when he plays with Feel, I just love it

Oh man, you are so relatable yet so much funnier. Really makes my day watching you having a go at this. Guitar, awesome. One of JP’s finest, awesome. Ola learning/playing it, freaking awesome. There’s a holy trinity for you! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing, I'm with you- a hell of a solo, indeed. IMO DT peaked on that record in terms of creativity. Man, listen to songs such as Take the Time!

I can SOOO relate to this. Classically trained violinist would look at the sheet music and do it, us self-taught rock guitar players do THIS instead. A lot! The struggle is real!
