@@Volantbadminton thanks for your reply.. I recommend please try the Victor Auraspeed 90s and 100x racquet.. one of the finest doubles all round racquet.. you will just love it and may prefer it over yonex. Cheers👍🏻
I feel like this racket's handling is very similar to the 99 pro, since they are both very head heavy balance rackets. But for the 99 pro's handling/feel you gave it a 9.5 if I recall correctly. Therefore I don't know if I can agree with the 6.5 rating in handling for the Ryuga. Anyways just my two cents, very informative and great review👍
For me its pretty big difference in headheaviness, and I find that the Ryuga is more heavier in swing, which makes it slower than the 100zz, but it can generate more power for shots that give you time to prepare.
Another unbiased review 👍. In my day, players used the one racquet for singles and doubles. Do very competitive players of this generation play with separate racquets depending on whether they're playing singles or doubles?
Thanks Phil! :) No, not really. They probably just choose depending on what event they favour the most. Then just play with the same racket for other less-prioritised events!!!
Top single players almost never play double and vice versa unless it's a exhibition match. I've never seen a player who play both single & double in the same event. If you are at lower level (e.g club players) you may play both and have different racquets for each game.
Good review guys but suggest you drop the aesthetics score from your ratings. As you have said, it's such a personal thing and it distorts the overall score. Why even have it as part of your score ? How does it help the viewer ? By all means comment on it and give your opinion but leave it out from the score. Also, would be interested to understand what you mean by the Victor rackets feeling different to Yonex and Li Ning ? In what way ? Do they have a lighter, less substantial, "pingy" feel to them (that's kind of my experience) ? Li Nings have a "smooth, damped" feel IMHO, Yonex is somewhere in the middle, nice lively feel but still solid. Would be helpful to hear your thoughts. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Hi db qu, appreciate your honest feedback. Interesingly, we've discussed this recently and it wont be on future videos we record as a score but as you mentioned, it will be discussed instead. The reason why it's still in the videos we're releasing at the moment is that we've recorded these videos prior to that decision so you'll have to bear with us for a few more videos haha! Not quite sure what you mean by "pingy" feel haha but yes, our experience is similar to yours. I guess our experience is limited to the 4U Victors that we've been given access to so perhaps the 3U's feel different. Comparatively, we feel that Yonex and Li Ning have a much more solid feel than Victor and the feeling on contact kind of just feels like it's missing on Victor compared to the other two - perhaps that is the pingyness you're referring to? Agreed with your thoughts on Li Ning and Yonex having their own nuances as well but they just don't seem so far apart compared to Victor rackets. Maybe someone out there likes the pingy feel?!
I noticed how your ratings quite changed. You've been kinder to other "unenjoyable" rackets you tested like the LI Ning dragon max. You didn't like that racket but gave it I think a higher score than this ryuga (which didn't sound as bad when you talk about it). Given this, may I ask how you compare this racket to the axforce dragon max? And if your ratings changed for this one, given how lenient you are nowadays with critics? (Ryuga technically scored 29/40 with your new metrics, excluding aesthetics)
Always use ratings as the guide to compare the two rackets. Even though we've verbally communicated that we don't like the dragon max, we like it more than the ryuga
NF800 for a light racket, there's so many great offensive racket options out there! The latest one we really enjoyed using is the 88D Pro in 4U but I'm sure the 3U is more powerful (haven't tried that one yet!)

I don't think your review is doing the racket justice. You're both very doubles oriented and you're trying the 4u version while this racket is endorsed by Lee who definitely uses a 3u
Hi zw K, appreciate the feedback! Interesting perspective as Jeff played singles professionally so I would say he's more geared towards a singles orientation 😅 I also preferred singles when I was a junior although the court is too big and I'm unfit these days so I play doubles more haha. I think you're right in perhaps we should make it more clear that we are testing the 4U and not the racket Zii Jia uses specifically, although a lot of players (more recreational) will gravitate towards the lighter end (4U) based on our conversations with badminton stores. If we reviewed the 3U, we may have different comments. Curious to know, have you played with this racket and what do you think the strengths are that we missed?
