We have been a blended family for 15 years. We were definitely “that” family when the kids were young. I remember being in a grocery store parking lot, opening up the trunk and 5 football helmets and pads falling all over the ground. He came with three sons, I came with a boy and a girl and we have one son together. At 26 I became the sole caretaker for 5 kids under 7. And my husband worked his tail off to provide for them while I was home with them. They are now 13-22 and it has been the greatest joy of my life. Even now when 3 have moved out and one is in the Navy, they all come home for Sunday dinner and to watch the Eagles every week. People underestimate HOW DIFFICULT it can be in the early years and I think that’s why so many blended families don’t make it. But if you can push through, it is the most rewarding and special bond and I would do it over again in a heartbeat. God bless you guys, this warms my heart to hear how you love each other and your kids.
