May day transcription! Brazilian jazz is probably my favorite type of music :) Trivia for sheet music: Tom Jobim said a pianist had the best rendition of Wave he'd ever heard. Who was Jobim referring to?
In Brazilian, this is know was Bossa Nova. Great work with your transcrption. I just thought it was a bit exaggerated. Sorry for my English. I am Brazilian.
Terrance, man of fathomless pianistic resources. Timothy, a man who could hear & transcribe even the tones of needles dropping on a carpet. Thanks from the heart to both. And to Antonio Carlos of course.
This is great. I appreciate all the hard work the transcriber put in. I hope he gives Terrance a cut of every sale he makes on this as I've never seen the man himself monetize his own talent in any way and he absolutely deserves to
Amazing, Timothy! I am a friend of your family from NY. I just started playing piano again after 40 years. It's so cool that I can read the notes again and follow along as you play. Ha! I'll never be able to play any of these wonderful transcriptions though! I had to go back to my beginner books, but I'm enjoying even the simple pieces. God bless!
Timothy, a mere thank U ain't enough, U and Terrance are two gifts from heaven to us. So THANKS from the heart. Those giving thumbs down are "all thumbs", poor souls.
Wow! I was JUST playing this today thinking it would be good for one of your transcriptions! And look what arrives! The end groove of this is mighty funky! Terrence really is a one off!
Omg brother! This is amazing! You have quite an ear my friend. I"m just learning to do transcriptions now, and I hope and pray that someday I'll be able to reach this level. Well done indeed.
Damn. And the Candy Man easter egg? Blown away. If Wave isn’t the most gorgeous chord progression ever… and you take it up a notch. Well, there’s Stardust of course. Toss up.
Graphomaniac it’s a very difficult skill, I used to struggle with this a lot also. Trust me when I say that a lot of this will come to you with practice. Here are some things that I personally find helpful in developing this ability 1. Take a chord progression such as this one in Wave and try and play through it on a chordal instrument such as piano and guitar. The notes are all in front of you so take turns around the progression and try and sing the root of every chord. Then do the progression again and but then do the 3rd, the 5th, the 7th. You can do this for every value in the chord, such as the b9, #11 and any other complex sounds that you might want to familiarise yourself with. This will help your overall ability to hear and understand the contents in any chord. 2. You can transcribe almost anything by slowing it down enough. Something I like to do sometimes is play a note on my instrument that I can imagine being there, such as the 3rd of the chord and then try to specifically listen out for that note in the chord when it is slowed down. From there it can become quite easy to determine whether or not a note is truly there. In theory you can do this for any note in any chord, but sometimes a lot of patience maybe required. 3. Sometimes using software to bump the entire recording up by an octave helps even more, especially if it gets muddy in the low register. The Amazing Slow Downer and Transcribe are helpful softwares for the exact purpose of transcribing. I hope this was helpful, I do a lot of transcribing myself and my ability to hear and understand music has improved immeasurably.
This is a pretty amazing piece but kind of long for me. I'm just learning jazz after decades of classical piano & cello. I was just about to give up my grand piano when I was touched by jazz! The quality of the recording or the instrument is not very good.
Do you communicate with the original artists to get permission for creating and posting these? It seems strange to me that your transcriptions are getting more views than the original work, specifically for Terrance Shider’s videos.
@@juremarkic At 2:50 and 3:30 I think those themes are used in hollywood shows/american cartoons (or something) to let their western audience know something "oriental" or "middle eastern" is happening. Sounds a bit tacky to my ears when this otherwise good pianist frequently plays them.
I don't really like his playing at all. It feels very wet and sloppy. Also missing out on all the harmonic possibilites of this tune. It sounds quite unexperienced in the style of music.

yes especially in the bridge (bars 34 ff.) he has found some very interesting harmonic variation to the original
Excellent job!
Thank you! Cheers!

Yeah there are a lot of fun quotes. Also 2:00
He quotes that song (the country maid) in every performance
Yeah they seem to be his calling card. I don't think I've heard anything from him where he doesn't quote it. He's fun
Thx 1000 Timothy G.🙏🎹🌄
Very beautiful music!!!👍
Thanks ☀️😊
Gorgeous
Very good ! For another transcription, I suggest you Terrance Shider's version of Take Five
How complicated though beautifull!
Love the crazy gospel fun time!!!!
wow , just wow😍
thank you
Fine! Sounds very easy.
Thanks!
Damn, now that’s a bop.
Great one!! Could you please transcribe Summertime also by Terrance Shide? Thanks so much for your great content!
GREAT! 😍
A good variation on a well known jazz standard
his playing take five is so nice
how did you develop your ear to hear all the voices? I only hear the melody and the bass😔

I feel like this improviser blocks a lot of the chords, so it's easier to write out those inner voices if you have the lead sheet
Is an another Pierre Yves Plat's transcription planned, in particular I will Survive ?
👍 👍 👍
Excellent work!! Have you given some thoughts about making a transcription of Oscar Peterson's Bach suite Andante ?
That is a monster of a piece. I've thought about it but that's a commitment I don't have time for yet. I do hope to get to it eventually though!
Oh my gosh what an ending
Like it!
Wowwwww,,
Thanks for sharing this, any chance of you doing Oh My Love as played by Terence Shider.
Terrance again with the sick vamp. What a legend!
I don't think the page will change 7:33 !
Wow, did you do it by ear?
All of my transcriptions are by ear yes!
You should do early summer by ryo Fukui!
Man straight up played the Chinaman theme
This is elevator music but 100x more chill. And I wanna stay in the elevator for a while with this one playing.
You can't compare Ladybird and Jazz with elevator music
Sounds like three people playing together

Was the outro necessary? A little bit grandiose don't you think?
Some sections kinda sound like Lawrence of Arabia theme.
RUclips inserted a commercial in the middle of the song. Such disrespect for the artist!
This Is not jazz, It's bossa nova.
And I like this version, but the "egypt" thing Is cringe af
I like it but Terrance spoils a lot with his annoying little idiosyncratic additions in the music and similar progressions
Very generic and uninspired.
