Plot: Kitty and Mimi go to the lake with their Papa one day, where he tells them of a mysterious giant serpent that is rumored to be living in the area. Later that night, the girls venture out of bed to find not only the serpent himself but his friend Prille, the water sprite. Kitty and Mimi learn about the lake's garbage-filled state being unsafe for Pronty to reside in and how Prille wants to move Pronty to cleaner waters. From there, Kitty and Mimi set off on a quest to reach the witch residing in a castle within the dark forest, in hopes that her magic will help save Pronty...

In my opinion, the best of the old Hello Kitty episodes 🥰
I'm very disappointed that it wasn't broadcast in other countries and therefore there's no dub other than Japanese. (no one even did the English dub 😭) That's why I thank you for at least English subtitles.

This unlocked a part of my memory I didn't realize was missing!! Back in 98 when I was 5- there was a sanrio store in our mall run by this elderly Japanese couple and they would play vhs tapes on a tv in the corner. I couldn't understand it (it was in Japanese obviously) but I always stood and watched while my mom bought me a sticker set or some little candies. I saw this episode as a little kid!! That's wild! Thank you so much for sharing these with us. ❤😊

Wow I thought I’d seen them all but I had no idea of this one existing. But I can see why this one didn’t get an English dub. I guess the stuff with the skeleton might have been seen as a little too scary for younger audiences.
It would be great in the future if you tried to subtitle The Sleeping Princess (Hello Kitty no Mahou no Mori no Ohime-sama in Japanese). There were quite a few parts cut in the English dub release including cameos from other Sanrio characters and a sequence involving Kitty and Mimi waking up in the night and boarding a train which better communicates to the audience that the journey they are going on is in fact a dream, which isn’t shown or hinted at in the dub. Even when I watched it as a kid, I could tell some things were missing and it confused me. I’m curious to see if there are any translation differences that the dub omitted that alters the story at all.
I think Mr. Bones should have been in more scenes in my opinion, I liked his character a lot in this OVA 😁!
I do plan on releasing The Sleeping Princess either later this summer or before the end of 2023. I've gotten a surprising amount of requests for it!
Once the only episode of Hangyodon's Parallel Strategy is finished, I can set to work on that!
There's quite a few of them which didn't get an english dub. Thankfully we have amazing people like Starshooter who manage to get these subbed for us to enjoy!
