My son's pediatrician suggested rubbing olive oil on his head and using a fine toothed baby comb to gently remove... and it worked. You don't need expensive ointments or shampoos.

@@jasminepetal3972 I let the oil sit for about 20 minutes before trying to remove with the comb. I didn't want to wash his head too frequently so I did this process only once or twice a week and it was gone within a month from what I remember. He's 5 now so it was a while ago haha.

"As far as we know, there's no cure for dandruff, though using olive oil might reduce your flakes. Massage olive oil into your dry scalp and comb out dandruff flakes. Leave olive oil in your hair and cover with a shower cap for extra conditioning"

@@WOMENNN-61524It depends what’s causing the dandruff. If it’s fungal or a bacterial cause, olive oil will not work. If it’s just dry skin, olive oil might work, but it could also cause itching and discomfort. I wouldn’t recommend it. It can also make your hair sticky if you have straight/wavy hair I think. I’d recommend getting a dandruff shampoo (head & shoulders is good!) and if that doesn’t work then you should see a dermatologist.

My daughter has cradles cap, its already nearly gone but when she first got it she had it in her eyebrows, i dabbed some breastmilk on it daily and it went away after about 2 or 3 days, and now she gets it on her head and i find what seems to help, is putting some baby oil on her head, leaving it for a little bit, and giving her a bath and massaging her head with shampoo, and ill typically put the baby oil on, get her bath ready and get her undressed, and then wash it. I also pump some milk ahead of time, and pour it on her head after washing/rinsing, then rinse some of the excess off with a little water. When i first did this nearly all of it was gone.

Sarah. Same thing happened with my baby girl and hers was really thick on her scalp. Pediatrician told me it gives their body oils time to change. As babies heads don't sweat like grownups, we don't need to use shampoo on our little ones till about 6 to 8 months or if they have a really thick mop of hair. Just RI ce and wipe lightly with a cloth. Hope that helps.

@@sarahmoi5677incorrect information, for the first three months of a babies life you don’t use any shampoo on their heads. You use unscented products on other places of their bodies in the mean time. IF the babe has a bunch of hair and needs to have it washed early that’s a whole different story and you treat it delicate and don’t wash it as frequently because you don’t want to strip the natural oils out, plus you don’t want to over load the amount of shampoo you put on your hand/their head when shampooing. A little bit more then a lot.

It’s very rare to have cradle cap beyond 3 months. Cradle cap is a type of dermatitis it’s advised you have a GP check it’s not a type of eczema if it’s present after 3 months.
Those good old fashioned remedies are best, moisturise and comb it out. You can use any old cream, no need for special products of shampoos.

It might be a genetic thing my kid has a type of eczema that looks like that but its a medical condition and yes can be treated the same way. Apple cider vinegar washes help the best i find. Wvery few months i wash her hair with apple cider vinegar and it helps alot

Mine surprisingly never got it but then again i washed their heads with regular rags i was scared to rub bare fingers over their soft spots and i felt like a rag was textured enough to scrub away dirt and other stuff babies get on their head without scratching them up 😅

The only time you deal with that is if your baby’s head is wet or even damp before they go to bed, it’s basically dandruff and a mild yeast infection

I completely forgot my daughter had cradle cap. We just used the selsun blue one time, put her cream on and combed it all out. I wish i had done it sooner. I did use the shampoo twice afterwards just to make sure but it never came back thankfully. You just have to be really careful not to get it in their eyes.

TIL about cradle cap. I didn’t realize babies got this! Is it more like dandruff or psoriasis? Maybe eczema?

That's funny cause mine had it for a few years and at 5 still has spots every once in a while never fully went away no matter what I did to get it gone each time

Don’t buy expensive creams. Just use a little olive or coconut oil a few times a day.
