One mistake from eBay that I recall was when I sold a bicycle for a friend of mine. It was a custom bike and he spent a fortune on it and we listed it for a fortune. Finally after going back and forth with this buyer, we came to a deal and he bought it and make the paypal payment. I go to tell my friend that we sold it and he told me that the bike was recently stolen and he didn't have it. So I had to tell this to the buyer who left me NEG feedback and said that I was trying to rip him off. Lesson learned - ONLY SELL WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR HANDS. Hello Lindey. You are a great teacher when it comes to reselling on eBay, because you don't sugar coat anything, and you don't pull punches. Decided to get back on the horse today and found your video very good to get those gears cranking again. Thanks for the time and effort you have put into sharing your experience with us.
Regarding the "Sell Similar" function, it IS a time-saver. However, some people use it on other sellers' listings, which is when you need to be VERY CAREFUL. If you "Sell Similar" another listing, you need to make absolutely sure that ALL the Item Specifics that came over from that listing apply to your item. Otherwise, you could get caught up in an "Item Not As Described" problem, right?
I want to thank you so much for all of your videos. I have not sold on EBay in years and have only sold my stuff on Etsy and now my own Shopify Store. After watching you for the past 2 or 3 weeks I just started listing stuff this evening on Ebay again. I only put 5 items up and about 2 hours after putting these items up I have 2 watchers already. Thank you! Thank You! Thank you!
Thanks for the tips. The sell similar button and templates are real time savers! I'm glad you mentioned learning. Failing to do that can decimate profits.

Thank YOU so much for all your kind words! I'm planning an entire video on the pros and cons of Buy it Now versus Auctions... I'm very opinionated! Haha!
Hello there, Need help with promoting your business? We offer services that could help your products rank higher on eBay search results. Search "mmmyway" on Fiverr to get started! Thanks :)
Dear Lindey, I recently (yesterday) found your channel and have been watching your very helpful videos! I am setting up to be an ebay book seller, and have found some REALLY good booksellers in YT who share great info, but you go into detail on the things that I still had questions on. You have helped me so much with the mysteries of shipping, flat rate vs Priority, boxes vs bags, things I never would have known. Thank you so much!
Too funny. Right on target. I did the same thing with the priority tape. and yes, when I got there I just shipped it anyway. Was not going all the way home to re do it, just sucked it up! Lesson learned. And yes, I gave up about 8 times, too. Good stuff here. learned a lot This video is great, great, great!!! I am off to watch all your other videos! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge.
I agree with you when it comes to auctions and not liking them. The reason Buy it Now works better is because if it is a long tail sale eventually the person who wants it will show up, but there is a good chance that one person won't show up within the time of your action. As far as not charging enough. As a rule of thumb I see what the item has sold for in history and I always list the price higher than what I think it's worth or what someone will pay. I watch the "watch" counts and slowly back into lowering my price until I get the sweet spot to sell. A lot of times I get the high price I originally priced.
Why are there so many scumbag commenters who have nothing to say about the content but feel the need to gush over your appearance? Sigh... Lots of good eBay lessons here, some of which I've learned on my own. Shipping is an insane expense that can suck away profits in a heartbeat if you get caught off guard. I agree with your patience comment. I've had several weeks where nothing sold except things that were listed for months with hardly any views. It's weird how sales go in cycles (for me, at least).
Wood 'n' Stuff w/ Steve French Good points you make here. The weird off topic commenters are Sad troll dudes who are negative haters. They're low life male scum.
I ran a computer business from my home many years ago. The tip about separating money is what I used to have a big problem with as well as letting stock set too long. It affects everything from not knowing exactly how much money is available when ordering, (and computer parts were not cheap items to buy), to even filing Income Tax and State Taxes......What a headache, as well as the rapid rate that computers were changing. What was fast last week was slow this week. You cover some very key points in this video... Good job.!!!!!!!!!!
Just dipping my toe into the ebay water and I've found your videos a lifesaver. Quick question...Agree with having a separate checking account. How long did it take before you started paying yourself instead of reinvesting your profits back into your inventory? How do you know how much to pay yourself? Thank you so much Lindey, you're doing an awesome job!
Just getting back into eBay, it's been years. I was just brushing up on current info regarding the selling process and I came across this video. Thanks so much for your contribution here. Very helpful and informative indeed. Probably not going to go crazy selling, but I do have a bunch of collector items I want to auction off and I believe your sharing will help me to do that quite easily now. Thank you.
I've made these mistakes as well. You are doing a service here that makes people not hate themselves so much. Hearing about other's foibles is a good tonic.
first video i have watch for 30 min on youtube that was informative in the sense that speaking about your experiences is better than speaking in general and figuring out what applys for me, not boring, not a waste of time and straight to what you need to know and what to avoid. thanks
You talk about separating eBay and household income. We were struggling with that ourselves. We had no idea what was really coming in and going out. Like you said, as soon as we got money it was transferred to my bank account so that we could use it. I do keep track of expenses and earnings, but it wasn't enough. About 3 weeks ago I applied for and received a PayPal debit card and it has made a HUGE difference! Not only does it help keep track of everything, but I have access to the money immediately. Thanks for the video!
You're welcome! I did the same thing. I tracked whatever I spent and whatever profits/sales I had but when it's all mixed in you are really kind of clueless - or feel that way. I know for me personally it started getting tricky because what if I bought a couple shipping supplies I forgot to note? Or a refund I forgot to write down because I did it through the app. It feels SO MUCH BETTER having a completely separate account. I can see it all there and I don't have to worry about accidentally overspending my investments.
Love the video... You are right. researching it all before going in is key. I know a guy who was at a walmart and saw a bunch of stuff on clearance. he bought all 800 dollars worth ..only to find out it was some how in a restricted areas and he wasnt able to sell any of it.....
I totally feel you! I have been selling off and on for 15 years! I just decided in the last 3 months that I am an idiot for passing up this opportunity! Taking it full time this summer! Thank you for the transparency!
Interesting. I have to add another mistake- using eBay's listing tool in the first place. There are a lot of other tools that you can use that are much better and faster. You want to save time, don't bother with eBay's web based tools.
Sorry, I just saw this response. I use Sixbit to list for both my eBay ids. I set up presets and templates. Saves lots of time. Plus, it is on your local machine so you have ready access to your data.
I just finished watching your video - you are extremely animated (in a good way). I learned a lot and I want to thank you for sharing your experience with all of us Lindey. I will subscribe.
I literally binged over 10 of your videos back to back last night. I ended up sleeping really late. Just now when I woke up I pulled up YT and it went right back on your video. Guess I'm binging again. Lol. I love your channel and personality. You are very informative.
Regarding your mistake about shipping, I totally agree with you. I always weigh my item & determine the packaging I'm going to use & the total weight, BEFORE I list the item. So I have NEVER been surprised by shipping costs once the item has sold.
So helpful. Didn't think about the sell similar button. Mistake #1 really got me also. I sold a suit and didn't anticipate the shipping being so high! Love your videos. Great personality :)
i got a scale off ebay that gos up to 70 lbs for ten bucks. works great for 1 lb and up but not so much under 1 lb. so if you are in need of something under a pound and over then you might want to look into 2 scales
I swipe other people's listing info for everything I sell. You can make minor adjustments in seconds. Also, Buy it Now is only good if your item sells. If not you're stuck relisting I've actually had items listed for a say $20 Buy it Now that don't sell. Then I relist auction style for 99 cents. Often times they end up selling for more than my initial $20 price. I guess people enjoy fighting each other at the end.
Hi Lindey, thank you so much for your words of wisdom and for sharing your ebay experiences. It helps others understand the inner workings of the reselling world. Very much appreciated.
Very interesting video; good points. But she talks too much. This video should have been edited down to half its length. Maybe she'll learn from this---Mistake #12. Good luck next time.
Glad I came across your videos yesterday. I subscribed right away! When I first started selling on ebay, I sold a hat for $10 with free shipping and packaged the hat in medium size priority box and the shipping was like almost $11 I was so pissed at post office when I had to pay $11.. so you aren't the only one who was in hole those are rookie mistakes new sellers make. I think we all go through them :)
I was watching for about 2-3 minutes just because you look nice. But hey, 30min for 11 tips?????? it should be 5 min video, too boring to waste 30 min from my life sorry. keep it simple!
Your honesty and way of communicating your experiences made it real. I had to reflect on my own ebay experiences. Your charming personality was captivating and I had to watch the whole video. You might consider selling cosmetics and such. You got the looks to be a star if you wanted to go that way.
I'm new at reselling and I've already made some of these mistakes. Glad that even a pro has made them. Lesson learned. Thanks for sharing your mistakes. I have been enjoying your videos.
wonder if you can get a reputation as a soft touch seller ???? oh that guy gives refunds so easy ,,,just give a sob story and he sends you r money back ,,etc
You've slowed down your talking! Great, I'm from Memphis Tennessee and you were going to fast for me in one video. Ive been in eBay for 4 years. This segment was the most informative good sound advice in just 10 or so minutes than hours of listening to other Utubers information on the same subject matter .I wish I heard this a few years ago because these are the same mistakes I've made. Some of them still making until now, because of this video. Outstanding advice! Keep up the great work......
Thank you SOOOOOO MUCH for all your tips! I’ve been selling for 17 years and HAVE become complacent...😜 Now you’ve given me hope that I can do better in the future!! 😁😁😁🤗🤗🤗❤️
Lindey I cannot thank you enough for this video. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be embarking upon my reseller journey next month and your tips are crucial! Massive love from London, UK
I occationally get some ideas on how to list things and i've learned is give as much detail to the listing that you can. People will complain SO much about that. I use the advance button to help with what has been sold before.
Hi again Ms Glenn: as for mistake number 2: i know you said you have learned from purchasing the items NO ONE WANTS and should you have more items that NO ONE WANTS here is an idea that perhaps you maybe able to use. For now i sell coins of Silver and Gold and i have been on EBay for many years myself and so here is what you can do: I once saw a pair of Silver coins that were on Sale : However I only wanted one of the coins but since it was a great deal this is what i did. I purchased the pair at one price, kept the one i wanted and sold the other and that meant that I not only got what i wanted but sold the one i did not want and so the coin i wanted after selling the other coin came out to 20.00 instead of 40.00. This means and sorry for all the words, that if you have merchandise that no one wants the next time you list add an item people do want and then you work out the price to insure you are making a profit: For example you are selling a BEACH BALL and no one wants them. You add an item to sell with it that you know will sell and so now you are selling a BEACH BALL no one wants for it's WINTER and so you can add to this sale FOR SALE BEACHBALL AND MITTEN SALE!!! Hope you liked my story and please subscribe back JohnnyStaxx
#4 IS SO true, more times than not I will search only buy now because I don't have the time to monitor the Auction not to mention the instant gratification.
At first I thought this was long winded....but it isn't; all 11 mistakes are vital to learn and Lindey rams the point home effectively. For me, packaging and item description are the most important....get that right and you're away running to profit!
Firebrand55 her tips are good but this video is EXTREMELY long winded. "She bought it for 25 cents. I listed it for 25 cents, and it sold for 25 cents. Plus $4 shipping. The auction ended at 25 cents, and she paid $4 shipping. *dramatic blinking and staring* So she paid a total of $4.25 *blink blink stare stare* I paid *pause, stare, blink blink* FOUR.... FIFTY..... for shipping." Yeah, that's long winded. She could have said the price in 3 seconds lol. Still a good video.
Lava rock thingy works well for pilling on sweaters, yet is still a bunch of work. Would take half an hour maybe on a sweater and it takes some skill to not knock holes in clothing.
Don't know how this video got suggested to me but I'm glad it did. Love the fact that you are confident enough to use your sad experiences to help others. I've thought about selling on eBay but I don't feel it will work for me, I would deal more with consignments but don't have the storage for them... I thought about drop-shipping but when I see most are based in China it turns me off, we are slowly building up the Chinese economy while our people are stuck with inventory. A couple of questions: 1. Is it really possible to make a living on this after five years or so? 2. Why don't you mention your store name?
It's definitely possible. I have friends that have been doing it only a few years and supporting themselves 100% on it. I don't yet personally because I have small children and only do it part time. But my part time income from ebay can pay most of my bills. I didn't mention my store name in this video because it was so early on and I didn't know if I wanted to disclose it or not. I have since started. My ebay user ID is never_enuf_stuff
I'd have to say I in the beginning made lots of mistakes w/shipping like you said & just paid the difference and ate it. Live & Learn is what life is all about! Right! I use to sell years ago from 03-08 but had to shut down due to life's happenings. Thank you so much! Paypal/eBay submits a 1099 to the IRS for 200 transactions AND $20,000 in gross sales but eBay will randomly audit sellers so don't play with fire! Definitely file your profits during taxes even if you don't hit the threshold! I don't have much of a schedule... although I should! I might do a video about it :)
1. I use a food scale. 2. Search sold listings and see the frequency of sales and try and find the one that looks like yours. Sometimes you can't find it. You won't have competition but it can be a good or bad thing. 3. Remix your titles from others so it's not copying. I can list items in 30 minutes once I have pictures taken already. 4. I do both auctions and buy it now. Auctions should be for an item on buy it now for 3 or more months and not selling. 5. I couldn't find anything worth reselling on black Friday. The sold listings we're almost at the black Friday prices on normal days.
Thank you, Lindey!!!! Sadly enough, I can relate to almost all of these mistakes. I have 20+ yrs in sales & thought it’d be no problem to sell online. 😐 WRONG. SO WRONNNNNG.
it seems to me that the biggest challenge is shipping and pricing. pricing items is something that isnt too hard for me to do research is the name of the game but shipping i really need to put my head down and learn as much as possible.
1. 00:16 Creating a listing & pricing it before u know how it's going to be shipped (put it inside the package and weight it before u list the item)
2. 1:38 Buying the item before you research the item.
3. 2:42 Use the sell similar button
4. 5:03 Only doing auctions (people want to buy it now) (sales increased immediately)
5. 6:41 Don't use priority tape on non-priority mail
6. 10:44 Paying to much for an item without knowing how much profit you're going to get
7. 13:49 Selling used items in bad quality
8. 18:33 Separate your eBay money from your personal money write down how much profit your making and how much u spend for example if ur spending $200 from the eBay money not only make sure you know how much u gotta sell to get that $200 back but also make a profit from it
9. 20:59 Not willing to learn new things she would only buy the same kinds of things
10. 22:36 Don't give up
11. 25:12 Branch out sell different things not just 2 or 3 kinds of thing but much more the more stuff u have for sale the more you'll sell

Hello there,
Need help with promoting your business?
Good stuff here. learned a lot
This video is great, great, great!!!
Thank you so much Lindey, you're doing an awesome job!
she probably dont know yet you have to reply to the comments in 11yrs she will make a video on 'things i did wrong on youtube'
I've been selling on Ebay for 14 years and ive made just about all these mistakes. Live and learn, its SO worth it
..Who else is just here for the stairwell? lol, great video @Lindey Glenn
Thank you.
i have recently started. THANK you for this great info. I thought it was just me!
I've made these mistakes as well. You are doing a service here that makes people not hate themselves so much. Hearing about other's foibles is a good tonic.
Excellent advice Lindy, thank you so much.
first video i have watch for 30 min on youtube that was informative in the sense that speaking about your experiences is better than speaking in general and figuring out what applys for me, not boring, not a waste of time and straight to what you need to know and what to avoid. thanks
Your videos makes tons of sense, thank you.
Thank you for watching :)
i enjoyed this video thank u
Thank you for being so real.
I give this video 100 percent. A natural with communications, straight to the point and awesome information thank you!
thank you so much for your honesty. This was very good information.
MusicMichelle Kay thank you for watching! :)
MusicMichelle Kay. no credit card can not buy M on ebay this hurts bad

Love the video... You are right. researching it all before going in is key. I know a guy who was at a walmart and saw a bunch of stuff on clearance. he bought all 800 dollars worth ..only to find out it was some how in a restricted areas and he wasnt able to sell any of it.....
great video. I've made the shipping mistake myself too!
Jack Phillips which one do you use? I've tried Dshopit, DSM Tool.. and will maybe give SKU Grid a go
Sorry, I just saw this response.
Awesome..your energy is great!! Thanks for the info
This is one of your best selling teachings, Linday. Thanks.
LOL The super man doll. Great info!
I literally binged over 10 of your videos back to back last night. I ended up sleeping really late. Just now when I woke up I pulled up YT and it went right back on your video. Guess I'm binging again. Lol. I love your channel and personality. You are very informative.
Great video thank you for sharing so much great information. Have a wonderful night. -Paul
Thank you for watching! Enjoy your evening! :)
Lindey Glenn thank you for being real. Your videos are so helpful and informative. I have a new mentor with you.
Regarding your mistake about shipping, I totally agree with you. I always weigh my item & determine the packaging I'm going to use & the total weight, BEFORE I list the item. So I have NEVER been surprised by shipping costs once the item has sold.
great info and you crack me up too lol
Thank you!
You’re awesome in being so transparent with your experiences. Truly priceless information.
Much success to you.
mistake 12: not including your eBay store link in this post. Or did I miss it?
yep you missed it. in the drop down arrow it's the 3rd line and it's highlighted
So helpful. Didn't think about the sell similar button. Mistake #1 really got me also. I sold a suit and didn't anticipate the shipping being so high! Love your videos. Great personality :)
Thank you so much for watching! :)
What kind of weight scale(s) do you recommend/use?
Cori Alge they all work the same!
i got a scale off ebay that gos up to 70 lbs for ten bucks. works great for 1 lb and up but not so much under 1 lb. so if you are in need of something under a pound and over then you might want to look into 2 scales
Cori Alge I
Thank you for your stories. They help a new person apply the lesson much better.
I thought I was the only one that made these mistakes. ;)
Haha! You are definitely not the only one!
I swipe other people's listing info for everything I sell. You can make minor adjustments in seconds.
Also, Buy it Now is only good if your item sells. If not you're stuck relisting
I've actually had items listed for a say $20 Buy it Now that don't sell. Then I relist auction style for 99 cents. Often times they end up selling for more than my initial $20 price. I guess people enjoy fighting each other at the end.
Thanks for the info!
Dan Mart I’d kill myself if I were dating her
Thank you very much for the words of wisdom. I'm 72 and need to go back to work. I will start eBay selling from home this week.
Your a joy to watch :)
I think we all go through them :)
zolu shka haha! glad I'm not alone! thank you so much for finding me and watching!
Is there something wrong with this girl?
I'm new at reselling and I've already made some of these mistakes. Glad that even a pro has made them. Lesson learned. Thanks for sharing your mistakes. I have been enjoying your videos.
Good Lord. Your clothes are falling off!
Mark Chan oh hellz yeah!!
RustyX2010 lol
thats the best part of this show! she is yummy
Mark Chan lol xp
Mark Chan 😂
Thank you for sharing this information! I’m new and trying to learn and build my business. Great info. I love your videos!
her tips are great, but god she is irritating to watch.
Just listen. Get a something nice to drink, stretch out on the couch and listen only.
Wrong.
Agree
I've made pretty good money on ebay not using auctions. You exactly right, alot of people don't want to wait around on auction outcomes.
wonder if you can get a reputation as a soft touch seller ???? oh that guy gives refunds so easy ,,,just give a sob story and he sends you r money back ,,etc
There is a lack of modesty here.
Homebody Heaven Why is that?
Because her plunging neckline goes down to her belly button
Maybe you should move to Saudi Arabia then :/
I think her modesty is fine. In fact I wish she had shown more!!!!! Great tips, that's what you should have been paying attention to.... PRUDE.!!!!
Geez. What part of the Bible Belt are you in?
Thank you for being so honest and taking your time to help us succeed in our outnumbering business Lindey. I appreciate you so much 🌺 Tambi :)
I love your true HONESTY. I'm new to this and your videos have helped me more than you know. Keep it up
Stellar advice. I have been a seller since 2005. I have made all of those and more! Impatience almost killed me!
This has to be the best honest to heart video on helping people survive! Thank you Dear!!
Thanks I've made some of the same mistakes and have learned along the way, It's because of people like you I continue to grow in my business,Thanks
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words :)
Found you very likable as you were so honest about your mistakes
Thank you for the talk about not giving up.
Good stuff. I've made all these mistakes too over the last 9 months. Super funny I can relate!
Hope everyone can learn from your mistakes. You're terrific.
A couple of questions:
GILBERT look under the picture...link to Boots and Boyfriends given
keep doing videos like these! very informative/REALLY help me out!!!
I love how real you are
I'd have to say I in the beginning made lots of mistakes w/shipping like you said & just paid the difference and ate it. Live & Learn is what life is all about! Right! I use to sell years ago from 03-08 but had to shut down due to life's happenings. N started back up in Nov 2013 with everyone telling me that I'm waisting my time, well I've now had my 3 yr anniversary. Woot! Woot! And now I just need to kick myself in the ash to list everyday. Do you have a schedule that you could share " that's my down fall) I don't know where to begin. & inventory I already have lots of it for I'm selling all my collections, my moms n my grandmas slot of Vintage. Don't be afraid to sell big things-Smart post actually increased my sales with my big items & finally cleared them out @ being listed for 2 yrs. I just wish I had known about 1. Sell similar-for eBay told me to do it. I was making good $$ but it was all going back to eBay n I said to them I'm trying to make $$ not loose it by giving right back too you. 2. Sold/completed- just learned about 8-9 mths ago from "pinching pesos"Deb check her out Lindey you will love her Reseller Stew Shows & eBay and Bacons plus all her vids. TEXAS gal treasures-Margret, Thrifty Treasures-Tonya, little things & more-Michelle- great resellers and learned a lot from them as well as Casey! What a saint & Kind hearted down to earth-4 Real Young man! Found you through him. I can't wait to watch all your motivational Mondays. TFS😀 Your Amazing teacher and thanks for sharing and helping others. ???? Is it 250 PayPal transactions or 199 like I was told, &/or 20,000.
Read my comment to one of your subs close to the bottom. I would love to get this qualified????
Once again stay sweet 4 real, and such a sweetheart! Love your personality :-)
Best wishes from Ukraine. Have been watching your videos. Keep this way! Good luck!
the retyping in things is why I am so in love with turbo lister.
I can duplicate a listing, and all my seller info, paypal, shipping is all preloaded
Really helpful advice! I'm new to eBay selling and your lessons are very useful and gives me more confidence. Thanks for posting
Thank you Lindey! I buy things from ebay...just never sold anything there. Tour tips will definitely help me! Thank you so much! Dean
Thank you, Lindey!!!! Sadly enough, I can relate to almost all of these mistakes. I have 20+ yrs in sales & thought it’d be no problem to sell online. 😐 WRONG. SO WRONNNNNG.
I'm glad I'm listening to this, because it is happening to me now, but I'm not giving up.
it seems to me that the biggest challenge is shipping and pricing. pricing items is something that isnt too hard for me to do research is the name of the game but shipping i really need to put my head down and learn as much as possible.
