I just earned my helicopter PPL. It’s already difficult enough to fly a small heli with all my arms and legs functioning correctly. This guy is a beast!
Douglas Bader, quoted at the ending, was a highly decorated Ace of the RAF and he became so after being medically retired due to the loss of both legs in a training accident.
You can get the private pilot glider rating that requires no medical pr drivers license. You will be limited to power gliders like the pipistrel sinus but you will able to fly to 18000 ft, fly internationally.
@@atk237 doesn't matter. Need to mitigate the risk. Tbh I don't even know why you would disclose such things to an AME anyway. Was always told by a veteran pilot to disclose as little as possible to an AME. If you are Ill or unfit just abstain yourself.
I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been to get a medical certificate without legs. I’ve been fighting for nearly a year to get my third class medical only because of diabetes.
Gee's I was diagnosed with type two back in 2012. I talked to the regional flight surgeon. I had to be on the meds for 3 months, and my doctor had to write a letter on my condition and an A1c I took a physical, and it was kicked to the Regional Flight Surgeon and in less than 14 days I had my medical back. Now if you are using insulin then it's a problem.
As a disabled veteran on wheelchair, love this information. Thanks.

Brilliant!!
I've been flying Cessnas with a hand control for 26 years. I'd love to try this.

This guy can fly but I can't get a medical for the rest of my life because I had some anxiety a decade ago.
You need a better AME

Doesn't matter, you're a security liability. Just look at germanwings 9525
