AVATAR in IMAX with Laser - Worth It?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 окт 2024
- I rewatched #avatarthewayofwater on @imaxmovies with Laser, in PVR Select Citywalk New Delhi!
Is it worth it, is it 4K HFR? 1.90 Aspect Ratio, and 3D, and exorbitant prices - or is it okay to watch on a 2K IMAX?
#imax
And how is the experience compared to Prasad's Multiplex?

Extremely few ppl care about giving specific technical specs of theatres the way you do. And there are tons of pll like me even though we may be in minority but we really absolutely care for these specs. You rock
🙏🙏🙏🙏
I called Cineplex yesterday to find out what projectors they were using and they had no idea what or why i was asking lol. This should be information advertised on the ticket.
Same here man
same
Keep up the good work, mate. There are some of us cinema enthusiasts with a flair for the tech specs still out there, and we're loving your vidoes❤️🥂
IMAX proving again that they are lieMAX, the only 2 IMAX with laser in India charging 500-600 minimum ticket price while the rest of the digital IMAX's in India charging above 1000 which are less boxoffice capable cities than the 2 IMAX with laser situated cities
With other movies it’s better, I hope.
In Kerala, we got Imax last Month. It collected more than one crore in less than 15 days 😂 Tickets ranges 800-1000. Trivandrum has low purchase power but this much collection is huge🌟🙏
I always appreciate these videos bro. Don't undermine ur effort ever. I am equally enthused about theatre qualities all the time. I do it in Bangalore always everywhere. Great work
How do you rate Vega City imax 4Dx in Koramangala
@@karthiksreddy999 I don't like any 4DX screen in bangalore because they all have small screens. because of limited seats they r usually allotted the smallest audi and hence the small screen. I have not yet experienced only the one that opened 2 days ago at kanakpura road PVR. The quality of sound, 4dx machines, and shaking seats if u r asking I like the most in Orion Mall PVR. But still it's never my preferred mode because the screens they all suck
Imax have digital projectors across India apart from few places u mentioned. After watching some imax digital and reel movies in HYD prasads . I felt bad that rest of the digital imax projectors and screen sizes damn low or liemax screens they are. Yes seating at pvr is better but the normal screens have pulzz speakers and some bekar sound system like supersound system(no dolby or dts). Very few pvr and inox screens have dolby 7.1 speakers system. We can count 4k dolby atmos screens( especially corporate maintained multiplexes PVR & Inox) on fingers in different cities. We don't have proper DCP compliance and theater monitoring systems in India .state govts prefer to tax the patrons more for watching on silverscreen. Movie buffs like us love to watch stories on silverscreens. But the bad thing is Cinema exhibitors are in the hands of Corporate lobbies. I have grt memories from HYD , Vishakapatnam single screens in my teenage. SANGEETH 70mm was 70mm screen in secundrabad with xenon light platter screen . I enjoyed many Hindi and English movies there and Anand70mm nearby parade grounds . I have tons of memories with the theaters . For me theater is kinda of cathedral where I rejoice and relish myself. Thank u for taking time and making videos on Cinema 🎥 projection and technicalities
I also watched this movie in Select City Walk , my 3rd experience of imax after Dune and Brahmastra
It was awesome 😃😃
The main thing is that in India people don't care about experience much its only the few like us who do care about the experience
More than 60% population in India can't afford to watch a movie even in multiplex and Imax prices are way out of reach for normal person those who can afford
I think multiplexes should reach to Village people , I have friends who want to watch a movie in theatre but they don't go and rather watch it in mobile phones because of high money
What's your opinion??? 😅
Yes these premium formats are very expensive for multiplexes to setup and also for the ordinary person to buy
However, it isn’t necessary only Tier 1 cities enjoy these. The moviegoing culture in south india is phenomenal. I’ve been to Madurai - where there are all Dolby Atmos theatres. India’s second largest theatre V- Epiq is in Sullurpetta, Andhra Prasesh. A place where you can’t reach by air has such an amazing multiplex.
@@KDCloudyhow do you rate imax Vega City Blore
I watched 3D version in bangalore swagat shankarnag onyx LED cinema today and and surprise surprise mind blown it was the IMAX aspect ratio. Very interestingly 2D version for 2 shows at onyx is playing in the scope 2.40:1 ratio and then 3D version for 2 shows uses its full potential and end to end utilizes entire LED. In my opinion, just like prasad, no one can beat this unofficial IMAX aspect ratio 3D experience at onyx led cinema. Must watch at any cost. Sound is the only drawback of this theatre being weaker than any imax else image is miles and miles ahead of any imax. The sharpness the colors the brightness and more than anything the contrast man the contrast is like true Dolby vision HDR image on 4K UHD disc's. Absolutely blown away.
Prasad imax used to have film projectors till Interstellar it was amazing i was blown away with film quality then they switched .its good but there is something missing
Bro. Would Prasads be able to show other IMAX movies in the same tall aspect ratio or was this just exclusive to Avatar? Do you know by any chance?
P.S Being in Hyderabad, I unnecessarily went with AMB Cinemas (4K Laser) thinking it would provide the best experience💔(wanted to avoid the possible top and bottom black bars at prasads) Didn't know at the time that Prasads showed the full aspect ratio even without being an IMAX, and had dual laser projection too. The sound at AMB was a bit underwhelming.
Amb screen 1 is 2D only. Also only screen 1 is laser rest are normal ones.
Prasad's avatar experience was never level shit
Avatar only thing like Cameron intended to make it open for all cinemas. Will have to see what other movies next year will have 1.90. Hopefully a lot of south indian movies already do it
AMB is good but again, 2K on my screening for Black Panther 😭
For all we know they already screened RRR and Sarileru Neekevvaru in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. So it's up to the distribution network whether they'll provide the 1.85:1 print or not.
@@KDCloudy Sad. Btw, how's the sound at Prasads?
@@arthurfleck4792 great surround, i didn’t pay attention much to the bass but the surround effects were great
Bass was better at IMAX
Ya but I have observed that 2D quality is better than 3D. So I always prefer 2D. Best quality. Maybe 4K deteriorates to 2K in 3D. You say 2K. But I find it blurry rather. Specially normal 3D. I had watched alladin in imax 3D wadala . That was good.
The After effects of Prasad Large Screen made a huge impact on this video.
@KDCloudy I found your link from r/IMAX and wow, what a great video. I was searching for exactly something like this, but it's sad the search results don't have this one.
I'm from Kerala, and I'm planning to visit Bangalore to see this film in IMAX, but realized they have the older xenon projectors. Likewise, I am confused now. Do you recommend the IMAX theatres in Bangalore ? Or is it better to go to a 4k laser + Dolby Atmos theatre near me? There's also the IMAX in Trivandrum, Kerala - is that better than Bangalore IMAX(s) ?
Thank you! Are you talking about Aries plex in Kerala?
I think for Avatar you can skip watching in IMAX if you’re getting 1.85 aspect ratio and/or 48fps.
Trivandrum and Bangalore IMAXes have same 2K Xenon projection and roughly same size but Trivandrum has better seats and clean (because new)
At the end your decision to make, I suggest save your trips for Mission Impossible, Dune and Oppenheimer :)
Hey Cloudy, first of all, thanks for making this video. This is exactly what I was looking for. I travelled to Mumbai recently for Mood Indigo (meh fest) and I was confident I would have the time to watch Avatar 2 for like the 6th time but finally at an Imax with Laser and most importantly 4K (the entire point of laser). Unfortunately I didn't have the time.
I was planning on travelling back to Mumbai again just to watch the movie again at those specs. Yes I am obsessed with it.
Are you 100% sure it's not 4K? Because if it isn't, then I don't really care, I'll just wait for the 4K bluray version and watch it on my TV, sitting really close to get that big screen experience.
I think they stopped playing it on IMAX because of Pathaan. Even Pathaan is playing at 2K
The story with IMAX always comes with disappointment in something that is not up to the advertised standard.
Usually IMAX with Laser Should usually Go from 1.90:1 to 1.43:1,why it doesn't 1.43:1
Me watched first time in some local theatre in Bangalore in Hindi. That theatre was just too big and we were seating in the back and mostly we were unable to hear the sound. And yesterday I watched same movie in English in Delhi IMAX and the experience were over the top. 😅
Prasad correctly not IMax. One screen in Aries plus in trivandrum. Amazing experience Dolby atmos 64 channel and one of the biggest screen in india and most advanced Barco projecter 52k luminus is amazing.
Why Prasad imax closed(converted)
Imax india is planning any big screen like prasad anytime soon.
No. It’s not upto IMAX india. They sell projectors and somebody needs to bear the cost of setting up the theatre
It’s a huge difference, it’s just like watching a movie on an OLED screen the blacks are pitch dark black in the movie and colors are more punchier
Is Chennai pallazo have 2k digital IMAX or 4k IMAX?
2K
But at 70ft and 441 seats its one of the biggest IMAXes in the country
Bro so trying to book openhimer on book my show , some theatre says imax , some says imax screen , and one theater say imax lazer. Obviously the lazer one will be better but what is the exact difference between all this.

Bhai 4k nahi hone par bhi laser me aur bi benefits he. Laser me brightness and contrast jyada hei. Especially 3d movies me ye bohot important he. Digital imax pe 3d dekhe tho sab dull dikayi dega. Laser me esa nahi hoga. Agar tumko isse bhi achi experience chahiye tho Hyderabad aake prasadas me dekho Delhi se better experience milega with very less price.
@@umangpatel6576 from what I’ve heard, they played 4K on the first weekend and then monday ko projector glitch kar gaya and then they switched to 2K.

Can anyone tell me is XT laser better than commercial 3D laser imax?
I would suggest you also check out LED cinemas which are extremely few in country. There is one in mumbai one in delhi and one bangalore . In my experience of all imax in Bangalore and all regular theatres In bangalore they all can't even stand in front of LED cinema picture quality. It's kind of like an OLED technology I.e. the contrast level is insane because at pixel level the light gets turned off and we get absolutely deep pure black. The aspect ratio is certainly a benefit we get only and only in imax but if purely care about reference grade colors, reference grade contrast and brightness, LED cinema is the ultimate in bangalore. So I am guessing it should hold equally good in mumbai and delhi ones as well
ONYX? Yes I think Swagath Cinemas has biggest Onyx In bangalore, have seen ONYX once in Delhi, but never made a video haha
Yes Shankarnag chitramandira is awesome for brightness but the 3d presentation is not large at all. Watched avengers in 3d and 1 more 2d movie there in Onyx MG road. SOUND is absolutely stunning like dolby atmos. But 3d presentation not grt coz of smaller size picture.
@@KDCloudy ok great so how did u find it vs imax ? I truly insist since u have already seen so many imax once compare with the onyx as well. I know aspect ratio will be smaller but the sharpness and colors that r visible in onyx are out of this world accurate. Swagat onyx is the only onyx bangalore so there is nothing to compare. But they claim to be largest in the world because samsung has not made a bigger onyx screen than this one.
@@fromkarunakar there is a specific problem with this screen bro. As I said in other comment to kdcloudy here, the screen is claimed to be largest in the world but that is of less significance to swagat because it is a very large single screen theatre so the screen still ends up less than average. I'm delhi and mumbaj the onyx screen is smaller but it's one of the smaller auditoriums of a multiplex so I am guessing the effect will be better there. From experience i am telling On blore swagat, if we are behind j row the 3D effect also reduces along with screen size that starts becoming smaller and smaller. Still I believe due to its LED base the 3D from J row and onwards to front should be comparable to imax and any other best in class 3D presentations out there. I am yet to watch avatar in 3D there. My first viewing was in 2D and I was really really blown away like never before. Ironically this is the only place in entire blore now which is showing avatar in 2D and everyone must experience it once to get the grandeur of undiluted benchmark image
I was under the impression that the Saket one plays at 4k.I was planning to go there for Oppenheimer but I guess Logix Noida will do.
Appreciate your efforts for making this video bro.
Oppenheimer will mostly be in 4K but I suggest you to go to Noida at once
First watch after Logix, second watch at Superplex Mall of India at Laser.
My old theater I used to go to is now upgraded with Laser. On my last visit to the theater they had upgraded the size of the imax screen before they upgraded with laser and the screen was really huge. I will be going to go see Ariel this coming weekday
what about screen of Akshardham Delhi
Thinking of catching Avatar 2 in IMAX. Which one do you recommend between Select Citywalk and the Noida Logix IMAX theatres?
Go whichever is closer. Logix IMAX is bigger btw
which seats are best for full immersion ?
Same experience watching Gaurdians Of The Galaxy at Saket :/
Bro should I choose Logix Noida for Spiderverse, Flash and Oppenheimer?
Flash maybe Saket is fine because it’s framed a little tighter
Oppenheimer would highly recommend you to watch in Noida Logix
any particular reason for logix noida ? I am planning to watch Oppenheimer. which theatre is the absolute best one in your opinion ?
p.s - I haven't watched a movie since 2020 in a theatre. So , I don't want to ruin the experience after such a long time.
If possible please do a video on Best theatres in the world.
That's a cool video ! Excuse me, do you happen to know about the sound format in the DCP content? Is it IMAX12 (12.1 ch) for the IMAX with Laser ? Thank you
Thanks! I don’t know whether they’re legitimately playing the 12ch audio dcp but they should.
does imax in bengaluru[pvr kormangala] has laser projection
No. Normal xenon based projection
I watched the movie in IMAX kolkata. The experience was not so great as the sitting was not comfortable and the screen was not as big as I expected.3D effects were immersive but in high frame rate it was very distinguishable. btw your video is awesome,Not many youtuber have a clear idea like u do,keep up your good work. I have a small request can u please make a video on pvr pxl? I have heard they show IMAX certified movies in their theaters.
PXL doesn’t show IMAX DCPs that’s not possible. But i might make a video on those. Btw Mani Square PXL used to be a GT IMAX in 2009!
Thanks for watching!
Was your theter dual laser or single laser?
This may be relevant to the demished quality you noticed.
Also full imax ratio is 1.45:1 avatar 2 is 1.78:1 in imax.
I went to a dual laser theter wirh a 70' screen that is 1.45:1 and avatar 2 did not fill the full screen.
I did have issues wirh my 2 sets of 3d glasses where the right lens bleed alot from the left immage. You can check one eye in the previews. My glasses also did not fold or have laser branding.
Edit lfe exzaminer shows select city walk as being single laser.
Edit 2 Imax GT dual laser systems could only do 2k and hfr or 4k and hfr. Although the immage should be a bit brighter and not as bad as expected due to the wider aspect ratio and dual laser being dual 2k
Single laser has had superior quality for Avatar 1 re release. So that’s why it was a let down. Dual laser 1.43 venues weren’t best for Avatar 2
@@KDCloudy I did alot of research after and its kinda a wash for avatar 2.
If you do not watch hfr dual laser gt can play the 4k files.
Even in hfr dual laser is brighter (more contrast/hdr ness) due to the type of 3d used. Single laser uses RealD 3d.
However Single laser does true 4k hfr 3d where dual laser GT does 2k hfr 3d per laser goving a effective resolution of 3k due to the pixel offsetting of the dual projector system. Dual laser 4k movies are ~6k actual due to the pixel offsetting.
I just found out we do have a single laser theater and I may try to watch avatar 2 there.
The single laser is also only a 50' 1.9:1 screen so the smaller screen may make up for the loss of brightness I wont know till I try.
Our dual laser presentation was letterboxed and pillerboxed as it was played on a 1.45:1 screen.
The real best way to watch is in an 1:85:1 dolby vision theater with 4k hfr hdr 3d apperentaly neather imax presentation gets close. However we have no dolby vision theters in my country.
Planning to go to pvs select city imax with laser to watch Oppenheimer from meerut...should I?
