Love all of this! I’ve gained weight over the years due to a myriad of reasons and still wear my dresses, heels, jewelry and bags. I’m still a girly girl. And I’ve been getting the fatphobic and colorist comments, from my own dad at that. But his issue with women is not my problem. I love to see people owning what they wear regardless of their size. I wrote an article on my site called “Too Dark for That” because that’s what I was always told when I was working in retail when I suggested orange or yellow for darker skinned women. Melanin + a jewel tone! Automatic set off!
Girl I gained over 10 kilos due to q spine injury... the amount of fatshaming i have received... even from people who know I was injured... and people expect me to let go of myself and feel bad but NO... I still wear my dresses, my bikinis, shorts, jewelry, everything! Women are not supposed to be one size, especially not through out one's entire life.
I think yellow and orange looks the MOST amazing on dark skinned women! I am light to medium olive skin toned and I look terrible in orange but I love the color so much especially in the summer. So I wear it in pants and accessories. And coral looks good on me when I’m tan.
I love wearing bold colors too. My mood is better when I wear bright colors versus neutrals. I think more women would embrace color if they learn which colors look best on them. For me it is orange, yellow and pink!
Thank you so much. I work from home and am in such a slump. Maybe one day you can do a video addressing this since sooooo many are working from home now. I’d love to see that.
Tenicka girl, I’m just binge watching you at this point! You are spot on specially on the losing weight part to wear what you like. I had a baby 8 months ago and I’m “waiting” to lose the weight to be “fabulous” again, I’m not waiting anymore 😊🙌🏾 Thanks so much for this video 👌🏾💗
It’s the “waiting to lose weight” for me!!! There 👏🏽 are👏🏽 beautiful 👏🏽 quality 👏🏽 colorful 👏🏽 flattering 👏🏽 clothes 🗣IN EVERY SINGLE SIZE!!!!! Break out of that mindset that is holding you back ladies! Dress amazing at every size!!
My personal style is black like me. Love it! It’s my signature color! Pop of pinks, blue, chartreuse on my nails and accessories. My colorfulness comes out in my interior decor.
Ma’am, I think I’ve just about watched your entire catalogue of videos at this point but I am loving it! I really want to speak to your first point about the clickbait “what not to wear videos”. As I was transitioning from a young lady to a young woman and a mom, I really felt like I wanted to change my style. I followed a few of those videos and while some of the pieces were nice, I felt like I was sort of falling into this trap where I was repressing myself more than expressing myself when it came to my personal style. I think those videos are a bit discouraging and honestly people should just wear what flatters them best and inspires the most joy.
Love the feedback and encouraging others to be themselves!!! Also recognizing the difference in dressing for IG and everyday wear. Chase the style that meets your needs and makes you the most comfortable. Embrace your uniqueness and love yourself as you are. 👏🏾❤️
You got me laughing when you said that you weren't going to be held HOSTAGE by neutrals! 😂😂😂 And I thought to myself, "now, that's what I'm talking about!" I absolutely will not be a classic dresser, with all the beautiful colors of the world. Thanks for the encouragement.
Fast Fashion: Hmmm.....I'm married and we're middle to upper middle class family. I shop fast fashion 90% of the time. I accessorize in luxury, like bags, shoes, scarves, broaches, etc. The way I mix and match and put a look together I'm definitely not looking like everyone else.
I recently loss 40lbs and when I was bigger I went thru this phase of "nope I refuse to buy more clothes until I lose weight" girl I had to get over that. I was busting out my clothes like The Hulk. I accepted the weight I was and bought clothes that actually fit me. I wasn't personally happy with my weight so I did diet and exercise to get to my recent weight.
Thank you for taking the time out to shed some light on situations that are not obvious for some (including myself) a virtual conference/conversation/consultation is an amazing idea and I’m you person experience and expertise is welcomed so we don’t control walk around this earth looking crazy and comfortable!!!
I went to a bridal shower over the weekend and wore a dress that fit the colors but I wasn’t excited about. My daughter took my picture and that dress did nothing for my plus sized figure. BUT if I had simply belted it to cinch my waist it would have been a million times better. Honestly I didn’t belt it because I’m feeling some kind of way about weight gain. Getting over myself 🥰
You preached a sermon today and I was here for it🙋🏾♀️ Personal style is just that..personal style (your own personal style) with some suggestions if needed
I love this and I'm wearing all of the colors. My reinforcer for engaging in weight-losing behavior (I'm a Behavior Analyst) was a new wardrobe. I went from a size 14 (after having 6 babies and a lot of pizza) to a size 8 in 11 months just by changing my behaviors and reinforcing my behaviors by buying new shoes and bags. Once I get to that size 6 goal I'm buying a new wardrobe with all of the money I've saved over this year. Your channel inspires me so much.
Love the graphic intro! Great realistic tips, love it wasn’t just the standard advice. You really should consult, maybe do closet audits too! I’d love help building out my collection, as I get older I’m really looking for the pieces I’ll have forever.
I would love a virtual session with you, beautiful. I agree with all of your points. I literally love experimenting with my fashion. Fashion is meant to be fun and expressive. NO BEIGE!
Can you do a video on your favorite non fast fashion stores to shop at? I am doing a complete wardrobe overhaul and planned to just go to H&M but I want to invest in quality pieces so that I don’t have to do this again a year from now
This video is all facts! I used to be afraid of experimenting with color, and I dipped my toe in slowly and now and full on sprinting. Thanks for the inspiration Tenicka and keep pushing out this great content.
What I love most about this video, is you are literally encouraging women to try the bright and bold colors, patterns, and statement pieces! Out of all the personal style videos I’ve seen, the first advice is always to be drawn towards neutral colors so you can never go wrong, then figure the rest out later. I’m known for a bright color or statement piece so this made my heart leap for joy!
Loved this video content!!! Can you please do a video on where to shop for non-fast fashion stores that are affordable and sell quality pieces? Thanks so much!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Love every bit of this. This is more of a realistic “how to personal style” video. I watch the other videos that tell us what and what not to wear as a style, and it’s like, how are you going to tell someone else what their personal style is🤔? It’s personal, relies on the person.
Great tips, thanks for this! In my mind I'm colourful but my closet has another idea.....the neutrals are depressing me these days, I'm not even sure how I ended with such a neutral heavy wardrobe. I'm changing that real soon! My colours need to match my warm sunny tropical environment
My new thing is following black women in luxury. Bumped into your reel on Instagram and I was sold immediately! Number 7 spoke to me. Actually, we have the same silhouette preferences. Number 8. I have about 10 clothing items I bought saying I'm gonna slim my way to it 🤪 it's been 4 years with some 😅😅. Looking forward to enjoying your channel further 💜
Would loveeeeeeee to see what you wear to work T. As a black woman who loves color & is in corporate America, I struggle with curating “culture appropriate” work looks! :( Helppppp!
To elevate my wardrobe and style - I worked with a personal stylist and colorist to find what works best for me, my shape and current lifestyle. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this 😘😘
Right, there are no universal fashion is what I firmly believe!!! So good!!! I love it its YOUR fashion.this is the best fashion video ever!!! This is why I rock with you!!! Yesss
Great points! I’m always self conscious about being busty. I always think I want to be known for being smart not for someone looking at my cleavage. I had to work on being comfortable showcasing my body is a way that was flattering and still let me not feel like that’s what I was leading with. Really appreciate your insights! I think virtual sessions would be dope.
Your expression at ‘Buying All Neutrals’ 😂😂😂😂 I looooooooove color! Always have. Color makes me happy. That first tip out the gate though…👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾 Omg, that waiting to lose weight is so annoying! Life is so freaking short! I’ll be waiting for this stomach that popped out two kids to be flat forever so imma buss out some crop tops in the meantime…lol This was a great vid. The tips were so unique from others I’ve seen and by the way, I hate those what to/not wear videos…ugh
Yes let the truth be spoken!! ✨ I'm in the big numbers, have middle age spread and pandemic wobbly bits BUT I've finally found my personal style and feel put together every day thanks to this advice right here👌🏾💝 Btw: people think I'm in my early 40's until they meet my grown kids 🤣🤣🤣💃🏾💥
Listen that first one when u said “how can someone tell u what not to wear that don’t know u!” I always said and felt this when i see those videos I’m like but they may style that in a way u might not know like yeah all that yo say i felt that when u said it
I’m guilty of shaming my body for not fitting into society’s perfect standard. I also need to find my ideal silhouette. Thank you for this! Definitely hit that subscribe button ❤️
I very much appreciate the reference you made to IG VS real life. I had a very recent conversation with a friend about the same thing. Ive never been opposed to cokor, but I'm certainly more mindful of incorporating it now. YES, YES, YES to scheduling calls 📞. That would be amazing. Would they be specific to Styling/wardrobe or Influencing? Either way...GREAT idea
This is video is so good! Great advice as always. That’s for taking the time out to do this. I love that you mentioned the not sticking to neutrals. I’ve been living in New York for 7 years now and people be like “Black is a New York thing.” I’m like how can it be in the multicultural melting pot of the world?!
God did not create a colorful world only for us to dress in neutrals, not because we want to do so, but because society has coerced us into believing it’s the only way to look chic & expensive. Smh I recently shared a video about that very topic. Cheers to a colorful life. Great video as usual 👏🏽
Hahaha the buying all neutral reaction 🤣🤣🤣 hahaha ❤️❤️❤️ I love neutrals but like what’s going on 🤣 why have we decided all that neural is boujee hahaha
For me my personal style has always been structured blazers, heels and statement coats. It livens up anything it’s matched with. I love colour it’s part of my culture and heavily reflected in my wardrobe. I cannot bear the neutral trend and atypical neutral apartments on social media. it’s very sheep like and lacks originality. If it’s true to someone’s style so be it but pop off with colour once in a while.
"your body deserves to be shown off today" PHEWWWWWWW lissennnn you better tell them Tenicka. I agree with every single one of these tips. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
What colour beige you gon get today? LOL! When I was heavier, I really believed that I looked better in Black. Now I look back at photos of myself and see how sad I looked! I wish I wore more colour back then too.

I totally agree! AND the quality of non-fast fashion brands is not on par with the price.
Love your perspective on personal style Sis.! I love to display my uniqueness through fashion 🥰

This is what I needed! We make mistakes that we may not be aware of. You have definitely pointed me in the right direction! Thank you!
Yes we do
I love this video ❤️. Your channel helped me realize that I don’t have to wear all neutrals to look put together and fashionable. I love colors! 💕
Thank you!
I would love a virtual session with you, beautiful. I agree with all of your points. I literally love experimenting with my fashion. Fashion is meant to be fun and expressive. NO BEIGE!
The realist & best videos on finding your personality style!
Can you do a video on your favorite non fast fashion stores to shop at? I am doing a complete wardrobe overhaul and planned to just go to H&M but I want to invest in quality pieces so that I don’t have to do this again a year from now
I should clarify because we all shop fast fashion brands and I support that.
This video is all facts! I used to be afraid of experimenting with color, and I dipped my toe in slowly and now and full on sprinting. Thanks for the inspiration Tenicka and keep pushing out this great content.

Yes to the virtual sessions. Thanks you I’ve been adding color to my wardrobe, now I just need to wear them
Love this. Thank you. Finding what silhouette works best for you is a good tip. I’ve been thinking more about that lately.

I felt hit with that pause on neutrals 😬😂
Listen that first one when u said “how can someone tell u what not to wear that don’t know u!” I always said and felt this when i see those videos I’m like but they may style that in a way u might not know like yeah all that yo say i felt that when u said it

Great video sis!!
I’m so glad you mentioned the erasing of culture. That’s what makes us interesting and fashionable. Love love love 💕

I’m #6 all day!!! Lord help me. But this encouraged me for real
Love this 😍😍😍
These are some great tips. Being singular and standing out should more normalized as an individual not 👀👀👀👀what is she/he wearing 🧐🧐
God did not create a colorful world only for us to dress in neutrals, not because we want to do so, but because society has coerced us into believing it’s the only way to look chic & expensive. Smh I recently shared a video about that very topic.

Hahaha the buying all neutral reaction 🤣🤣🤣 hahaha ❤️❤️❤️ I love neutrals but like what’s going on 🤣 why have we decided all that neural is boujee hahaha
LOOOOVED THIS VIDEO
Aptly put. Refreshing
Covers face over number 6 but I'm coming out! I've bought more color this summer than ever!

That clap after "buying all neutral" followed by the silence made me double over.
Lmao! You made me holler at the neutral colors. I love neutral colors and I’m a Capricorn so you know Im earthy but I do love yellows too though.
Love that!
WELL SAID👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yeah definitely
How would you know
