Sowing and planting a seed are the same. So what he is actually saying is "you never know where you might go, but the seed that you plant is the seed that you plant"
I think he meant by reminder is that the plant you plant is your plant, don't plant a seed then be annoyed you got a wattle tree when you wanted a rose bush. Don't expect things in life that you didn't start.
