I love these vintage recordings from the 70's and 80's ! Very authoritative and a bit spooky sounding but really cool ! I would love to hear many of these from the 50's and 60's if it were possible.
Based on longer tones at seconds 36 and 37 with 40 and 41 short, this would have been between March 2-11 or 1-10 if from '80, '84, or '88. Two other time signals in background from China and Japan. The Japan shortwave signal went off air in early 2001.

They don’t travel as well as the old voices did, though. I imagine I could hear WWV a lot better on my radio if they weren’t speaking in such hushed tones that they use now.

@@normkirk65 do a Google search. A website published audio recordings of WWV going all the way back to the 1950's.

Why are those specific seconds longer?

Great historical archive of both stations. Thanks for creating the video with QSL cards!
You're most welcome!
You may note that underneath the WWV/WWVH signals are TS stations JJY from Japan, which ceased operations many years ago, and China's BPM.
@@joeh52 I wonder why they would use the same frequencies as WWV/WWVH... CHU
in Canada, for instance, uses different
frequencies...
@@crooner2007 CHU's situation is different, tho they moved further away from the 41 meter band many years ago (7850kHz, ex-7335).
I like the current IDs and voice better. Much more friendly.

@@CrowTRobot-ni7zu that's a good point
From my childhood, I like the classic voices of yesteryear. Now it's like someone else saying Hi-ho Silver, away!! Doesn't work well for my memory. 😇
