Wildlife "Photographer" of the Year awards should only be given to those who are present for the decisive moment, not asleep while a remote camera was tripping whatever moved in front of it or miles away in a heated vehicle while some drone captures it. It is an insult to all those great talents out in the field who are PRESENT to see through the viewfinder, feel the conditions, compose the image as it's happening in front of them, and capture a captivating photographic moment in time. That is a "photographer"!
@@tilikumtim5562, almost every photographer in this video emphasizes the political story aspect of their photography. Man's inhumane treatment of animals, man's disturbance of habitat, etc. Even the photo of the bloody lion is attributed to "nature isn't pretty and it isn't perfect." In fact, it's perfectly natural for lions to eat wildebeest. All these photographers are playing to that political message. I don't argue that they are wrong; man has long been destructive of everything we see. I just think it's too bad that they can't win a photography contest by taking a beautiful photo of wildlife doing what they do.
@@kevins8575 How do you know? And how does it ruin your enjoyment of the photos? You can just go to the website and view the photos. it's weird you're even mentioning this, you even said yourself you agree humans are having a negative impact on wildlife. I think the vast majority of wildlife photographers understand that conservation is important and these competitions are a good way of spreading that message.
Right out of the gate - politics. Can't we enjoy the beauty and nature and celebrate the skill of the photographers without getting on a soapbox? Apparently not.
So much respect to all of them.. You r made a wonderfull photogrphy experince to me, wildlife photography is so exicted to do and wach the result image..
Really? Is the environment, and related issues all we have to talk about? Surly we can enjoy nature without this spoil sport topic. We already know there are problems. Talking about it does not help!

Too bad that the political aspects have overshadowed the enjoyment of a great photo.
How so?

@@kevins8575 I don't see what's wrong with that. Why does it bother you?
@@tilikumtim5562 , because artistic or any other kind of achievement won't count unless it meets the standard policy message decreed by authorities.
