In this, Vengerov equates Kogan, who's thought to be previously unsurpassable... such luscious and golden tone, and that legato truly sings. A monumental feat in violin playing.
He doesn't just "play" the music he lives it, becomes it, makes it so beautiful.. every note is his hearts interpretation. He imo is the best violinist in the world, ever.
Vengerov is undoubtedly one of the greatest, however..... not so fast sir ^^. There is this Chinese guy who sadly might never perform again. Have any idea who I’m referring to?
I saw him play at the Dorothy Chandler pavilion in 1994, Sibelius in D minor opus 47, I had a meet and greet ticket that I got from Teldec, so I went backstage after the masterful performance, he was super nice, I ask him about the Reyner Stradivarius of 1727 that I read (in the Teldec announcement) he was touring with, his assistant pulled it out of the violin case and let me hold it, it was one of those surreal moments that I never thought it would be possible in my lifetime , totally unexpected, I got chills knowing this was an epic moment, meeting the master violinist and holding a real Stradivarius. what a glorious experience.
Someone mentioned it already. It's such a great performance that it's a shame it's not in the form of a video. While hairsplitting it would be nice to hear him stand out above the orchestra. Can't recall hearing a better performance
Carmen Fantasy es una composición de Pablo Sarasate, famoso violinista y compositor Español considerado a la altura de Paganini, basada es la obra de Bizet.
Who is it that said comparisons are odious? Emerson? To criticize Maxim Vengerov, even the suggestion of it; musician conductor, teacher who has given us so much feels ungrateful. Comparisons of truly great musicians imply not living in the moment. It starts with the incalculable genius of the great composers. Every musician I have been privileged to listen to from Perelman, Oistrach, Heifetz, Phil Setzer of the Emerson Quartet, Vengerov...I could list so many more including child prodigies whose outcome is not yet known...all of them have brought so much joy and in a very real way have saved me.

My school orchestra played this today for prize giving
No way...
hold up, your school has someone who can play this?
Bad sound mix! The orchestra sounds live definitely louder. Here you just can't hear it.
Vengerov great.
:D
violist = person who plays the viola
violinist = person who plays the violin [also called violonist; like my username]
Are you from Romania ?
Because in Romania to violonist we say violonist
