    I was at his college in 1993 and he actually watched me did two serves and told me what to correct. Thanks 🙏 Vic RIP.

    I started playing around 1976. And I read Vic's book Tennis For The Future after I had been playing a year or so. I took 6 months and modeled my game after the book. The book covered all these points about the serve. It also covered all the other strokes. The book used stop action photo sequences to show the strokes. I improved a lot during that time. I still have a low toss to this day. There are a few things that haven't aged well. Almost all pros are off the ground at impact today. And, almost all pros get a bit of shoulder tilt where the toss shoulder is several inches higher than the hitting shoulder. Vic's shoulders had a little tilt in the his demo serves but not as much as top pros today. Another key is the best pros get the chest upwards and Vic does this a little in his demo but doesn't mention it. All in all, Vic's approach is still very good and very insightful since his approach was published roughly 50 years ago.

    Thank you for some great instruction. I've always been a believer in a lower toss and your video showed why it works

    Yeah Kevin Kern was was the only guy that came out of Sacramento that made it on the pro tour and he had that same talk as you're showing right now low

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад +1

    Ryan when I threw up the Ball toss high like Linda I had more problems cuz the wind would blow or if I use the back scratch like labor I would lose power cuz I wouldn't be using the kinetic chain I'll be using too much of all arm

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад +1

    Yeah a lot of top pros think it's the wrist snap I read several books where they think it's the wrist snap that generates the power but no it's the arm pronation but they say that happens naturally without thinking about it and it's actually the wrist snap that gives you the power but you're right it's not it's actually if you stop that shoulder and let the arms snap it gives you like a it's kind of like fly fishing like throwing using the fishing pole

  • @arunjetli7909
    @arunjetli7909 Год назад +1

    Ic is correct on this as the back scratch is within the flow never as a stop point

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад +1

    Yeah you thought from the fingertips up like a flower that's the way I do it cuz if you let that ball sink into your palm that's a problem

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад +1

    See that forehand that was shoulder to Chin on the follow through now on his back and would be Ada but I mean by that is Eric to armpit air to armpit ATA

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад

    Yeah I have the front foot putting towards the right map post and the back is foot is parallel to the baseline

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад +1

    Will always my partner that I played on a regular basis his head would always go up and then come down and then he'd have to double thought or his serve would be inconsistent and I always tell him keep your head up you got to hit up and out like a midget you you have to be like six foot 11 in order to actually get down so it's not going to happen you hit up and out like a midget you let gravity take the ball down so it really helps because I've read the book so much and I've made so much money teaching tennis lessons out of it and continue to make money because everybody wants to know why my forehand is so good or this particular shot

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад +1

    Radicals up and out and not down and keep your head up and you shoulder stops because of the toss when you have the proper toss comes up from the palm and the rackets taken back with the Palm down you get that loot natural pronation and a fly caster like

  • @douglashagan65

    Kevin Kern with some Sacramento where I live and he went on the pro circuit and played Boris Becker Wimbledon can you believe that and he had a very low cost yeah

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад

    Yeah they keep the foot anchored the front foot and they keep that front toe down but Kevin turns front toe came up and you're not supposed to you're supposed to keep that foot flat anchored at a 45 to The net post then the back foot can come around

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад

    Yeah people they drop their head or turn their head around because they want to see if they're serve goes in but in your book your serve is in don't look cuz if you bring the head down it won't be in

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад +1

    What to do if you make a complete shoulder rotation and that racket doesn't go down it goes around more horizontal and then comes around and the shoulders stops like a fly caster the arm takes off that's what gives you the power you don't muscle the ball get the full shoulder rotation stop the front shoulder then get that whipper snapper effect like a fly caster

    He doesn't do the trophy position???

    • @CJZM7777
      @CJZM7777 Месяц назад

      He does but it isn't a position that he pauses in. If you stop his demo serves and step through the motion with the , (comma) and . (period) keys, you will see a trophy position but he advocates and uses a smooth continuous motion without any pause. It is more of a position he passes through without stopping. Many pros don't pause too. Pros with higher tosses do have a slower pace before they go into the loop to allow the ball to drop. Some very good pros do allow the ball to drop and they use a segment of the swing with slower motion to time the drop. Federer lets the ball drop 12-18 inches and he uses a continuous motion but with slower motion before the racket loop to allow the toss to drop. Many pros do not let the ball drop or at least not let it drop much such as Casper Rudd, Nick Krygios, Goran Ivanesivic, Kevin Curran, Roscoe Tanner and many others.

    Hey come across the ball hit it about 1:00 or 2:00 toss but out in front of your body

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад

    Yeah it goes forward through the ball not down it just goes forward

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад

    Interesting you have the ball out in front of you but to the left most spinners throw it behind their head that's other top but a lot of pros like you they have it in front of their body not behind their heads

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 3 года назад +1

    That's because people think they can hit down on the ball so what they do is they go up and then they try to hit down on the ball and you can't let your six foot 11 so you got to be like a midget and hit up and out keep your chin up keep you arm loose
