- So, we have finally reached the last episode in the Liquid Tinsel series. Today we are making Mulled or Spiced Ale. This is more of a traditional style that was originally used to extend the shelf life of spoiled or almost spoiled ale. Unlike the modern recipes that just use the same ingredients as Mulled win and cider, this is a lot more subtle and should be drunk chilled.
Ingredients:
3-4 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar or Honey (Adjust to Taste)
1 Litre of Ale (Amber, Mild or Brown is better)
1/2 Teaspoon of All Spice
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/4 to 1/2 Teaspoon of Ground Ginger (Adjust to Taste)
1/2 Teaspoon of Ground Nutmeg
3-4 Cardamon Pods
50-61ml of Whisky or Rum (Bloody Scales!)
