It is believed that pride was one of the first sin ever. Pride was committed by Lucifer when he rebelled against God. But in the story of Adam and Eve sin did not become a thing until they disobeyed God. He kept saying that church is not "a safe place" for this new generation. But here's the thing: church is not SUPPOSED to be a safe place for your sin. Of course people who are deep in their sin are not going to be comfortable in church. They are going to feel convicted about their sin and being convicted doesn't feel good. The church (disciples of Christ) is to point sinners in the direction of Jesus Christ. We are to let people know that they have to repent of their sin, accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and put our faith in Him to save us. We can not continue living a sinful life and work our way into heaven. Jesus Christ is way better than any temporary sinful pleasure.
Amen…. Church is not supposed to be about feeling “comfortable” with who we are, but rather examining ourselves and changing. Christ accepted those who were humble enough to recognize their sinful ways and he always preached to them to “go and sin no more” he never comforted anyone with “being like they were”.

Most churches? May I ask if you have you been to "most" churches to see and know that they are doing this? Don't forget about the wheat and the tares. The wheat, who are truly born of the Holy Spirit and faithful to the Lord and His Word, will be taken up with the Lord and rewarded and the tares, who have been planted in the "congregations" by the devil will be gathered together for damnation-- no matter which church they are in and whether they are leader or laity.
Most churches are 100 members or fewer. Mega churches get the attention but most churches never reach anywhere near those numbers. That doesn’t mean there’s no truth in your statement but I think we tend to only focus on the crazy outlandish stuff and we miss the pastor who is faithful over his congregation of 100 and preaching the gospel
The Gospel is not to make us feel comfortable. It's to change us to be more like Christ. We have to stop trying to change people by doing what we think will get them to love God more. We preach Jesus and God does the rest. Not us.

William Murphy wanted to know what he was supposed to do with the same-sex couple, wanting to dedicate their child to God! You are supposed to tell them the meaning of this dedication, and that is that they are to raise this child with the principles of God, they cannot do that if they are not saved themselves. Before any child is dedicated at our church, our Pastor makes sure the parents are saved, so they understand the meaning And responsibility of dedicating this child to God! This is not a cutesy thang! This is serious, and evidently William Murphy cannot handle the responsibility That it takes to be a Pastor with the fear of God! A safe haven…this is a place that a person goes to escape danger. Which means, when I step into the church I am looking for something different from what I am running away from. So if I walk into the door and you are trying to be relatable to the danger I was in…how will I feel safe? You make the message easy to digest by giving me the same garbage I am running from, how are you feeding me? The church is a safe haven by giving me Jesus. Teach me how to fix my life and change for the better. To get a different result. To gain victory over the enemy and the inner-me.

It’s the anointing that captures the heart of the people!! The anointing is what makes the difference. Not giving them something they’re familiar with (or relatable or palpable). All we need to do is introduce them to Christ, invite them to church, and the Holy Spirit can take it from there!

Carlton Pearson was once a highly respected and well known pastor in the charismatic movement. There’s a movie depicting his ministry. At some point he came into a new way of thinking. He began to believe that God was too loving to send people to hell and the worst hell we would experience was on earth. Many Christian leaders distanced themselves from his way of thinking and his ministry and he went from thousands in attendance to hundreds or less.
The .movie is on Netflix called "Come Sunday." I wrote that in a prior comment but it was deleted...probably because I said it was surprising and sad that he didn't know who Carlton Pearson was.
He also said since he was older than CHRIST since Christ died at 33 he has more revelation than Him, Pearson had became straight apostate and these two false prophets are following his footsteps
Some people confuse reaching the lost with appeasing the lost. Having a million persons flocking your church means nothing to God. Reaching even ONE person who is genuinely transformed by the message of Christ that comes through you means everything to God. William, remember, there's a reason why Jesus left that chilling message in Matthew 7:22-23.
I was not raised in church. I was invited by someone when I was 21 years old. I loved secular music. Grew up on it. But when I walked into the congregation, I heard worship music. Then I heard the Word of God. Then the Holy Spirit knocked on the door of my spirit and by His power I opened my heart and repented of my sinful state and received salvation. I have never looked back. Murphy is confused. I pray he comes to that realization and repent and get back in right standing. Jamal Bryant is not right either. Praying for them both. ❤

It should not be this way. If you have never ever in your life said something crazy or wrong, keep living. The point here is that the crazy and wrong things he's said have brought to light his pride and bad theology, and called into question the nature and motivation of his ministry. That's totally different from "cancelling" people because you disagree with one statement they make. Even in this situation, we need to pray that God opens his eyes, and not "damn" him to hell. Creating a church that is worldly will obviously result in massive church growth... Its attractive to most who want a church that doesn't disrupt their lifestyle. Let's give it time and see if they will bear meaningful fruit. Better to preach the Gospel to 5, than to dilute it to 5 million. It honestly sounds like excuses to justify using secular music within the church. I don't condemn him, but I believe there's a need to repent of that. Nadab and Abihu perished for offering strange fire. It doesn't matter how many people turn converts, let's make disciples....the parable of the sower says many will fall away. If I use a secular bait to gain secular people because they're not interested in what's Holy, then I suspect eventually they'll fall away potentially since the Word isn't what they were interested in the first place. Let's preach the undiluted Word in love and let God the Father woo them and draw them unto Him. Pray for the church to have wisdom in this. God bless.

William Murphy wanted to know what he was supposed to do with the same-sex couple, wanting to dedicate their child to God! You are supposed to tell them the meaning of this dedication, and that is that they are to raise this child with the principles of God, they cannot do that if they are not saved themselves. Before any child is dedicated at our church, our Pastor makes sure the parents are saved, so they understand the meaning

It is a statement that the parents intend to raise the child in the fear of the Lord and are welcoming the church body to hold them accountable and even take part in the child's understanding of the Lord. I appreciate the sentiment of not wanting to turn away people who are reaching out toward this Godly symbol, but this is a ritual with meaning. If the meaning does not apply, I'm not sure why you want the ritual.

A safe haven…this is a place that a person goes to escape danger. Which means, when I step into the church I am looking for something different from what I am running away from. So if I walk into the door and you are trying to be relatable to the danger I was in…how will I feel safe? You make the message easy to digest by giving me the same garbage I am running from, how are you feeding me?

When Jesus hung around ppl that the pharisees didn’t think he should be around, to bring those ppl to repentance. Not to conform to their culture. If we as a body can just do what scripture tells us to do without adding or taking away, we will be so much better as a body.

Can't knock everything simply because you don't like how it looks or think it has some sort of demonic origin. Carlton Pearson was once a highly respected and well known pastor in the charismatic movement. There’s a movie depicting his ministry. At some point he came into a new way of thinking. He began to believe that God was too loving to send people to hell and the worst hell we would experience was on earth. Many Christian leaders distanced themselves from his way of thinking and his ministry and he went from thousands in attendance to hundreds or less.
The .movie is on Netflix called "Come Sunday." I wrote that in a prior comment but it was deleted...probably because I said it was surprising and sad that he didn't know who Carlton Pearson was.

Some people confuse reaching the lost with appeasing the lost. Having a million persons flocking your church means nothing to God. Reaching even ONE person who is genuinely transformed by the message of Christ that comes through you means everything to God. William, remember, there's a reason why Jesus left that chilling message in Matthew 7:22-23.

I was not raised in church. I was invited by someone when I was 21 years old. I loved secular music. Grew up on it. But when I walked into the congregation, I heard worship music. Then I heard the Word of God. Then the Holy Spirit knocked on the door of my spirit and by His power I opened my heart and repented of my sinful state and received salvation. I have never looked back. Murphy is confused. I pray he comes to that realization and repent and get back in right standing. Jamal Bryant is not right either. Praying for them both. ❤

I agree with you. The world has heard secular music, when an unchurched lost person walks into church it needs to be holy spirit filled music. That's totally different from "cancelling" people because you disagree with one statement they make. Even in this situation, we need to pray that God opens his eyes, and not "damn" him to hell. My discernment never fails me, a few weeks ago I was listening to pandora and one of his songs came on and the Holy Spirit told me he was not of God and to turn him off.

It doesn't matter how many people turn converts, let's make disciples....the parable of the sower says many will fall away. If I use a secular bait to gain secular people because they're not interested in what's Holy, then I suspect eventually they'll fall away potentially since the Word isn't what they were interested in the first place.
